Lost my menu options again - KDE messes with Gnome?
This was a problem I had a while back. I lost the "Preferences" menu
item in my "Applications" menu in Gnome. After much discussion, the
following commands got my "Preferences" menu item back, along with all
the applications inside of it:
rpm -e redhat-artwork redhat-menus --nodeps --allmatches
yum install redhat-artwork redhat-menus
But...

Shortcuts not appearing in gnome panel drawers
I'm trying to trace why launchers created by wine due to a program
installation are not appearing in the menus on my system.
The launchers appear to have the correct contents, but for some reason
gnome-panel is not adding them to my menus.
Does anyone know how to run the relavent gnome tools with options to see
what's happening when gnome reads these launchers.
Keep in mind that there

[BUG] No shadows on panel/menus unless shadow_radius is a multiple of 5
Greetings to everybody,
After erasing any previous compiz configuration, I recently installed
Compiz 0.5.0, compiling it from the official tarball and I must say the
whole experience is a bit smoother without the cruft of my past
experiments and (mis)configurations.
I had one problem though: no shadows on gnome-panel and menus, switching
back to 0.4 didn't help. Then I found this old thread

OT: GNOME Panel Menu - Notification Area 2.16.1- operator error
Apparently I clicked wrong this morning and now instead of the menu
(panel) with "Applications, Places, System", etc. being on the right
side of my screen, it is in the middle of the screen, vertically, from
the top. When I click in a vacant place in that menu, the "Properties"
option is no longer there, but I was able to get into "Properties"
(not sure how I was able

Hello,

Installing wine is fine both English and Japanese locale where wine
related soft
displays Japanese correctly even on menus.
But my dictionary viewing soft under wine has

How do I create a new menu category in GNOME ?
Hi,
The title says it all. My GNOME desktop is in French, so here's what my
standard Applications (same word in french) menu looks like :
Applications > Accessoires (Utilities)
> Bureautique (Office)
> Graphisme (Graphics)
> Internet (Internet)
> Son et vid?o (Sound and Video)

SOLUTION: How to use a custom icon for the Main Menu on the panel
After much head-scratching I finally figured out how to get a custom icon for
the Main Menu on the panel.
For the benefit of anyone else who wants a custom icon:
yum install gconf-editor
Run gconf-editor and go to apps - panel - objects
The main menu is one of the "object_0", "object_1" items. Just go through them
until you find the one that is the Main Menu.

Dreamweaver CS4 bugs
Hi all, I've been using Dreamweaver CS4 with WINE for the last couple of days, here are a couple of bugs that I noticed.
WINE buglist for Adobe Dreamweaver CS4 Version 10.0 Build 4117:
Shift doesn't work in the listbox but ctrl does (for example, when using the recordset window)
After opening some menus, the menus do not disappear, not even when minimizing, and stay there until the

How do I get two levels of grouping for in a lattice panel function?
Dear list,
I'm working on a panel function where I would like to be able to visualise
data grouped by the category of the data, and then also changes in summary
descriptives from one condition to another in the same scatter plot. Like
the figure attached, but with one polygon for each subset of the data set
given by a second variable (with colours still coming from the variable
