Incoming IAXTel/IAX2 issue
Hi all,
I spent most of the last weekend testing and trying to diagnose some
mostly incoming call issues. I'll start with the easy one in the hopes
it might have a positive impact on the others. First- I have an account
with IAXTel. I can place calls to other IAXTel subscribers and also
through IAXTel to landline toll free numbers and all works great. iax2
show registry shows I am

IAX2 calls through IAXTEL.com
I created an account at IAXTEL.com to route 1-700-XXX-XXXX calls
through. IAXTEL.com gave me a number (example) of 700-555-6226. I have
made the following changes to my:
/etc/asterisk/extensions.conf:
[iaxtel700]
exten =>
_81700XXXXXXX,1,Dial(IAX2/myusername:mypassword@iaxtel.com/${EXTEN:1})
exten =>
_81800NXXXXXX,1,Dial(IAX2/myusername:mypassword@iaxtel.com/${EXTEN:1})

IAX1 vs IAX2 for IAXtel
G'day list,
I am getting a lot[1] of traffic on my Internet link, ICMP messages from
69.73.19.178 telling me UDP port 5036 is unreachable (this IP address
belongs to iaxtel.org).
I see from the wiki that IAXtel supports only IAX2 from December 2003.
Fine, however it looks like my * still wants to try and register using
IAX1, and I can't find how to turn this off.
This situation is

iax vs iax2 connections
Been meaning to ask this for some time... no big deal, but curious.
I have a single register statement in my iax.conf for iaxtel like:
[general]
port=5036
register => npi:mypassword@iaxtel.com
<snip>
However, when I restart *, I see:
Registered to '69.73.19.178', who sees us as 205.221.193.101:5036
Registered to '69.73.19.178', who sees us as 205.221.193.101:4569

RC1 problem? (Conversation over two IAX2 streams = nasty, gappy audio)
I've been having 'gappy' audio problems with nufone for about a week now but I
think I've nailed it down.
Setup:
office* - iax2 - colo* - iax2 - nufone
office* and colo* are identical physical hardware (Xeon 2.8, dual ethernet,
solely used for Asterisk) -- they are joined together through their second
ethernet ports over a dedicated 2meg SDSL link. One hop between office* and

Using IAXTEL with RSA authentication. MD5 works, RSA not. [2]
[ Sorry, I incorrectly copied some Reference headers into this post
and tacked it onto the wrong thread. -Steve ]
So far, I have been able to receive incoming iaxtel calls via my
assigned 1-700-xxx-xxxx number, but only when using md5
authentication in iax.conf:
[iaxtel]
type=user ; Incoming calls only
context=incoming
auth=md5

iax vs iax2 question
I've asked this before but I don't recall seeing anyone respond. Maybe
the answer is so simple that it should jump right out, but its not.
I've got three iax connections defined, two working fine (including one
to iaxtel), and one that is somewhat intermitant. If I do a cli
'iax show registry' and 'iax2 show registry' I see "both" iax and iax2

IAX problems using CVS HEAD, but not CVS STABLE
Hi All,
Sorry if this has been covered in the past; I've tried searching the
archives, but haven't had any luck finding a similar problem.
Basically I have problems when using IAX2 (which I now understand is just
IAX). I have three IAX connections setup - VoicePulse, IAXtel, and an
Asterisk IAX<->PSTN termination provider here in Sydney (ATP)
If I try to use the CVS STABLE version

Asterisk to IAXTel help
I'm trying to make a call from an IAXPhone client - through the * PBX
to an 888 number using the IAXTel link. I'm using the basic conf files
for extensions and iax. I get successfully connected (at the
"Attempting native bridge" line of the output) and am then able to talk
both ways for 20 to 30 seconds and then the IAX phone appears off line.
If I wait on the PSTN line for

MeetMe over IAX2 Test
We want to test capacity of our MeetMe room. The thing that is distinct
about this is that the incoming line is being delivered IAX2 to our server
across the net - so Telephone -> VoIP Gateway -> MeetMe. We want to test
both the VoIP Gateway and the MeetMe room performance.
You can reach our MeetMe room directly at 1-301-561-9229
If you want to test with us we're thinking maybe 9pm

What's up with IAXTEL?
I finally got around to signing up with Iaxtel and Free World Dialup...
the price was right, as far as that goes!
I've gotten and placed calls via FWD just fine. But I can't seem to get
registered, or stay registered, with Iaxtel.
My logs show the story; at startup I see:
Jan 20 07:14:44 VERBOSE[14121]: -- Registered to '65.39.205.121',

Problem with IAX trunking
Hi all,
I'm trying to get IAX2 trunking between two * boxes and am having
extreme difficulty :) What happens is when the sending * server (the one
initiating the call) receives the ACCEPT back from the receiving server
it immediately replies with INVAL. I've checked the code and it seems to
be not matching the accept packet with the relevant item in the iaxs
array due to the following

StanaPhone and Asterisks
I am trying to get Asterisks to connect to our StanaPhone so that I can use it to route my outgoing PSTN calls to. We have a free account and if I can get this working are willing to pay for an actual minutes with them.
Here is what I have in my sip.conf:
[stanaphone]
type=friend
secret=pAsSwOrD ; skewed for this message.

IAX2/GSM VOIP troubleshooting
Last week I was able to do some debugging of the problem I'm having with
IAX2/GSM, residential-grade broadband, and VOIP.
To summarize, I am having a great learning experience with * and Zap cards,
SIP and IAX2. I hit a wall though, when I registered with iaxtel and tried
doing VOIP.
I spend the better part of a workday with the jitterbuffer and all sorts of
settings and finally started to

Comparision of IAX2, FWD, iaxtel etc etc.
Hi,
I've been setting up * recently and slowly getting to grips with it, however
I'm getting rather confused with all the different configs for IAX
calls, FWD calls
iaxtel etc etc. What I think I need it a basic understanding or even a
comparison of
these different voip systems (if thats what they are?)
I'd like to be able to make calls to other voip users, both in the UK and abroad

turning off IAX registration attempts
I have, in iax.conf the register statement:
register => username:password@iaxtel.com
This causes registration attempts to iaxtel.com for both IAX and IAX2.
Every once in a while there is a packet for port 4569 keeping the IAX2
registration alive. This is fine.
But, I have a barrage of registration attempts to iaxtel on port 5036 for
IAX. Every UDP packet is answered with an ICMP packet

IAXTEL is dead/dying?
I didn't get any response at all to my last "request for status" on
IAXTEL.
So, when this happens, I attribute it to one of a number of things:
1. No-one knows.
2. No-one cares.
3. Everyone knows, but are too busy to reply.
At any rate, my investigative side kicks in and I began searching thru
the digest's I've gotten, looking for references to IAXTEL. Mostly it is
