How can I make these command prompt settings into universal settings?
I've got it so that I can enable Japanese input into an application by typing the following at a command prompt (with FireFox, for example): [dave at localhost ~]$ kinput2 -canna & [1] 10631 [dave at localhost ~]$ XMODIFIERS='@im=kinput2' LC_CTYPE=ja_JP.utf8 firefox However, I would rather not have to type in all that craziness each time I want to start an application. Further,

Font Size for View()
Thanks for the feedback. At least on Windows, the font size for View() appears to be controlled by the font size specified under the Rgui preferences / Rconsole. I thought that under Linux, it might be controlled by some .Xresources/.Xdefaults setting. Ok, will wait for a bit but if nobody else has any suggestions, I'll ask on r-devel. R-alpha: Bugs in R-0.50-a1.
Problems in R but not in S: --------------------------- 1) 'unlist' seems to have several other problems than the ones reported up to now. For instance, 'unlist' can be used on almost any object in S without much trouble. Eg.: S> unlist(c(2)) [1] 2 S> --- R> unlist(c(2)) Segmentation fault (core dumped) This occurs in R-0.49 and in R-0.50-a1. 2) Problem with the

1600x900 not available
My laptop is a Dell XPS-13 running CentOS 7.? It has a 13" 1920x1080 screen and it's a bit difficult for my mid-40s eyesight.? Fedora and Debian, on this laptop, give me the option of choosing 1600x900 which is much easier for me to read but CentOS doesn't show this resolution as available. I followed the steps I found in a post on stackexchange using xrandr, substituting

Hi All, Is it possible to control the placement R's device windows, such as: > x() Or more generally, to passing X-resources? > x( geometry="500x200+0+0" ) Has anyone by chance worked out the possibilities for controlling R windows in .Xresources or .Xdefaults ? Font Size for View()
Hello, I am using Ubuntu 16.04, using the default (Unity) window manager. The font size using View() is way too small on a high dpi monitor. I already use scaling, but View() doesn't seem affected by that. Any suggestions for how I could tweak the font size here? Best, Wolfgang

Apps segfaulting, problem with X?
Hello, I'm having big trouble getting wine to work. What I basically want to do is get steam to work, now it even fails to launch at all. It updates to 99% and then it segfaults. Other games has done this too (rollercoaster tycoon 2, starcraft 2). I followed the instructions on winehq, removed oriya/samyak fonts and I don't think I've done anything wrong - I've installed steam

Can't get the gd library to work
I have a system with FC2, with php and gd. I just installed the php package and the gd package and it works fine. I also have a system with CentOS 4.1 and installed the php package and the gd package but when I use phpinfo() I do not see the gd extension. Am I missing something? I somehow feel it has something to do with the config flags Working FC2: '--with-gd'

Set font and size in xterm
I have a situation where gnome console does not handle vt102 escape sequences properly and therefor need to employ xterm instead. When I run xterm from a gnome terminal window I am presented with an extremely small terminal window employing an almost unreadably small font. I have attempted to set the font size using xrdb and a custom .Xresources file. I can change the colour scheme. I can
