"Asterisk for Small Office Setup"
Don't buy this book for its content. It's a waste of $40. However, it is useful to wave in front of my customer's faces to show them that Asterisk is real. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Pre-recorded first and last names audio database
Hi! My application needs to look up (by spelling) the first and last names of a person and then insert the corresponding pre-recorded audio file to personalize the message. E.g. "Hi, John Brown. Your book is due back at the library." So I need "John" and "Brown" in audio files along with LOTS of other names - Do such databases of sound files already exist or do I

Clients can find printer when "browsing" but not otherwise
I had a working Samba installation on my home network. Then I replaced one printer with another. The new printer is successfully installed on my RedHat 9.0 system on /dev/lp0. It is an Epson C82. From the RedHat system all is well. However, I am unable to print to this printer via Windows XP boxes on my network. Samba is working to the extent that Windows can find these printers via

*8 problem still there?
I upgraded to the latest stable version of 1.0 today and am still seeing the *8 problem where the phone that was originally dialed keeps on ringing even after another phone picks up. Are other people also seeing this? Has somebody figured out how to make this go away? Thanks! -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

Hangup not detected on X100P
I've configured my [*] to dial the pstn which is working like a charm. I've also configured an extension to ring when the PSTN line is ringing which is also working brilliantly, but, sometimes it doesn't detect that the call has been hungup. I've had a look on voip-info and checked the conf files but I can't see anything that I've missed. Cheers Matt

Some doc
I've posted a couple of docs that are intended to be helpful at http://www.rainiernetworks.com/29535/33701.html 1. A case study of one of our customers using a fairly straightforward T1 coming in to the Asterisk box 2. The installation steps we followed 3. The conf files Yes, yes, I know. Vorbis stream on-line
Greetings: Ouch, that's not good. I can tap into the stream just fine with 'xmms http://64.108.112.135:8000/shouter.ogg' but not by clicking on the same address as a link. More debugging ahead... ;) Btw, I've restarted the stream. Thanks for the report ! Best regards, == Dave Phillips The Book Of Linux Music & Sound at http://www.nostarch.com/lms.htm

How "expensive" are the different codecs? (Regarding CPU time)
Hi! The encoding, decoding and recoding cost cpu time, that's sure. But does this time differs much depending on the used codec? Is - for example - a G729 faster than a GSM codec? Bye! Michael

two y-axis using ggplot
Dear List Members As a relatively new R user I am extremely glad for there being a nice tool such as ggplot for producing easily nice graphs in R. Now I want to produce graphs with two y-axis. I know that this has been asked a hundred times with respect to standard plots in R. (The answer, to my knowledge, has always been "No" or "No, see the help archive".) But: Is there

Summary grouped by factor
### example:start v <- sample(rnorm(200), 100, replace=T) k <- rep.int(c("locA", "locB", "locC", "locD"), 25) tapply(v, k, summary) ### example:end ... (hopefully) produces 4 summaries of v according to k group membership. How can I transform the output into a nice table with the croups as columns and the interesting statistics as lines? Thx,
