mpg123 versions ?
We find that mpg123 0.59r works best. mpg123 0.59s-mh4 = the devil. Why does * only work with an ancient mpg123?
Hi list! Just wondering, why is * sticking with an mpg123 version from the stoneage? Gentoo comes with 0.59s-r8 and this version doesn't even start. Ik know I could forcibly unmerge mpg123 and install the old version but I guess some day newer versions will have to be supported? Thanks!

Compiling mpg123 under 1.2.9.1 / Ubuntu 6.06
Hi, I made the mistake of upgrading both my Linux box (to Ubuntu 6.06) and Asterisk (to 1.2.9.1) at the same time. Now, when trying to compile mpg123 - using the tried and true "make mpg123" -, the build fails with an error make[3]: Entering directory `/usr/src/asterisk-1.2.9.1/mpg123-0.59r' make[3]: *** No rule to make target `\ ', needed by `mpg123'. mpg123 hangs on close, but plays fine.
I am running Asterisk CVS-04/16/03-18:57:13, and mpg123-0.59r It all sounds great and it plays at the correct pitch and speed. However at the end of the file it simply does nothing. It does not go on the the next step in the extension.conf nor does it hang up. It just sits there. During play I have two processes running for the mp3 stream: root 6300 6299 8 22:32 ?

A couple of newbie questoins
I have a couple of questions I have looked everywhere for the answer and cannot find. 1) Musiconhold. I have turned on moh in musiconhold.conf, I have musiconhold=default in zapata.conf, and I have a Wildcard X101P thats working fine. If I connect to the musiconhold, I hear the audio, but it's very distorted, like it's over-driven. I'm running gentoo, and I emerged mpg123

MP3Player
Hi all, Here another guy working with ztdummy and having problems with music. MP3Player does not work for me both from a telephone entering through a passive ISDN-adapter as well as a SIP-client in the LAN. Ztdummy works with conferences. Here are my messages. I have seen several discussion threads in the mail-archive regarding this subject, but could not find an answer. Is this something I

Music on Music on Hold Distorted
Hi there, I just tried today's CVS: 4/23/2004 version and found a strange loise with music on hold. Basically, when on hold you hear very distorted music as if it was very loud. This is the exact same problem described last year at: http://lists.digium.com/pipermail/asterisk-users/2003-April/009735.html http://lists.digium.com/pipermail/asterisk-users/2003-May/011688.html No answers on

MP3s in /var/lib/asterisk/mohmp3 causes Asterisk crash
Hi All, I have just compiled the newest version of mpg123 on a RedHat 9.0 system (mpg321 has not been installed) and I am using the newest CVS version of asterisk. Whenever I place any mp3 files in the /var/lib/asterisk/mohmp3/ directory, Asterisk crashes a horrible fiery death. If mp3s exist in that directory, then I can't even start Asterisk. If I start it without files then copy

MusicOnHold spawns everlasting mpg123 processes
Hullo :) I'm using CVS-04/23/04-23 from the stable 1.0 branch on kernel 2.6 - since I have no Digium h/w, I've just managed to get the zaprtc module to compile and run, so I thought the best way to test it would be via MoH. The MP3Player application works great .. exten => 6901,1,Answer exten => 6901,2,MP3Player(http://127.0.0.1:85/ES/28) This will play callers BBC Radio 4 from

Does everyone have two processes running for mpg123? I always have them when I'm running an idle Asterisk box. No calls going in or out and nothing off hook. Is this normal? Thanks! 5008 ? useless mpg123 processes hanging around
Running Asterisk 1.6.2.11 on debian 5.0.6 with mpg123 1.4.3 when i start asterisk, i immediately see two mpg123 processes spawned which sit there forever. I can't imagine it's normal behavior, but if it is, please explain :) # /etc/init.d/asterisk stop stopping asterisk. #[...] # /etc/init.d/asterisk start starting asterisk. # psg aster root 14573 1 0 16:29 pts/2 00:00:00

mpg123 alternative?
Been using mpg123 for moh for the last two years or so. However, when I have * config errors, often times get a endless stream of console messages and need to kill the two mpg123 processes. Is there an alternative to mpg123 that eliminates that issue? I see references in musiconhold.conf relative to madplay, native file format, asterisk-addons, etc. Not sure why the asterisk-addon approach

mpg123 removal
When I configured this server, I did not do the make mpg123 option. Months later, I read about it and did it, as the client was asking about MOH. About a week later the server crashed, which it never has before. I believe mpg123 have a memory leak. What's the best way to remove it, and is there an alternative that is stable? -- Chris Mason NetConcepts (264) 497-5670 Fax: (264) 497-8463

mpg123 with ogg decoder...
I'm building a car audio player based on Cajun projekt ( http://cajun.sourceforge.net ). It uses remote control interface of mpg123 for control play.. I'd prefer to use vorbis format for ripping my CD's but, I still have some music in mp3 format only.. Did anybody consider to put vorbis decoder in mpg123, so it can play al this 4 formats. Or it's better to switch to freeamp ?

MPG123 with Asterisk on debian (one of our interesting experiences)
This was just a recent personal experience.... Maybe I missed a thread on this: We recently installed asterisk (CVS-HEAD) on a debian system using 2.6 kernel and the enhanced RTC for all timing. Also a custom compiled kernel for the CPU on the box (P4). We had a strange thing happen in that with Debian's MPG123 package: Sound files played in asterisk/mpg123 were heard at literally 1/10th
