G729 question
I am thinking about using the G729 codecs on my endpoint devices and purchasing some G729 licenses for Asterisk but I have several questions: 1. Which G729 codec is sold by Digium for Asterisk, G729, G729A, B...I? 2. If I have G729A on one end and G729B on the other, are they compatible? I have looked all over the place for question 2, but without buying the ITU docs I cannot seem to find this

g.729 licenses do not release when used in Voicemail
Upon testing the g.729 licenses in our lab we found the following issues in a plain SIP environment: 1. When g.729 licenses are used in leaving a Voicemail, they do not get released upon clearing the channel. 2. If the voicemail.conf has options for 2 format types (ie. wav49 and WAV), it consumes 2 g.729 licenses. I have reported this to the bugtracker. maui*CLI> show version Asterisk

Digium G.729 licenses
Hi all, We have already bought 30 Digium G.729 licenses to install in several machines, but Digium only has provided on key to use in registration. We suspect that the registration has assigned the whole 30 licenses to the same server. Do anyone know how to distribute the licenses among several servers? Thanks in advance. -- Arturo D?az Contact me on FWD: 870436 Skype: arturo.diaz.almagro

g.729 - licenses and opinions
I have a few SIP phones, Cisco 7960s, and was looking into implementing some compression, ala G.729. I'm looking into purchasing a g729 licenses just to get an idea of performance and voice quality, over lans, wireless and single channel isdn. Does anyone have positive/negative experience w/ getting licenses/support from Digium? Hows the sound quality compared w/ g.711? Is 729 better

G.729 Licenses from Digium
According to digium's site, "Note: Please do not attempt to use the G.729 code in a SCSI-only system. We are currently working with VoiceAge to correct this issue." (found at http://www.digium.com/index.php?menu=asterisk_g729). Does anyone know what these issues are? Can anyone define SCSI-only system? I know this sounds kinda dumb, but I have a server with SCSI and IDE interfaces,

G.729 licensing -- an opinion
Seeing that many people here hit problems with activating their G.729 licenses, I decided to post my opinion. I have purchased two G.729 licenses, for my private use. I did this even though VoiceAge makes G.729 free for private use, as Windows libraries. I guess a sufficiently motivated person could take the COFF libraries, run them through objcopy on cygwin (producing ELF .o files) and link them

G.729 codec doesn't seem to work *even* after installing the license
Hi, I am trying to post this again as I am getting no answers and the support@digium.com bounces... (I have searched the whole list and can't find the answer either) I have installed a 5 user license for G.729 and want to route calls through Asterisk from my G.729 phone to Cisco AS5300 also using G729. Both Cisco and the phone connect using this codec if I do not force the call to go

AsteriskNow install addons despite license conflict with FFA and G.729
Hello, We installed AsteriskNOW (Asterisk version 1.6.2.19) and purchased FFA and G.729 licenses and installed them successfully. When we tried to install asterisk addons (we need the CDRs), we get license conflict error messages. Searching google, we see that there's a way to force install the addons, but that "way" isn't properly detailed, so we didn't manage to do it.

Digium G.729 codec binaries updated
As of a few minutes ago, the Digium FTP servers at ftp.digium.com contain a new set of Linux X86-32 and X86-64 G.729 codec binaries, along with a new registration utility. The new codec binaries were produced using GCC 4.1, and are more highly optimized than the previous versions. In addition, there are now versions for both Asterisk 1.2 (and previous releases) and the soon-to-be-released

Copy protection issues with G.729 codec in Solaris
Hello, I have trouble activating the G.729 codec in Solaris. It seems the module doesn't try to read the license file at all. Although the module loads (it's listed in show modules), "show g729" gives "No such command" error and this is posted in the messages log: Oct 27 18:09:40 NOTICE[19336] codec_g729.c: G.729 transcoding module version 32, Copyright (C) 1999-2007

Transcoding g.711 -> g.729
Hello, I have an asterisk server running with 23 g.729 licenses. I have also purchased a sound file from thevoice.digium.com. I need to covert this file (uLaw, PCM I think) to g.711, g.729 & g.723 for use with an IVR system. Is there a way I can convert the files using the g.729 digium codec? sox? Thanks -Matt -- Matthew S. G.729 licensing - Hardware Devices rather than software
I have been reading a number of the past threads about G.729 licensing., about how the registration keys are linked to the network configurations, limited number of registrations etc, etc. Is there no reason why the decoding can't be done in with some Asterisk compatible hardware, so that once the adapter is bought, all licensing issues go away. In that way the owner could fiddle with the

G.729 <-> ZAP ?
Hi, I am trying to replace my Cisco 5300 gateway with my new Zap TE405P card. Incoming calls and outgoing calls between my cisco and my SIP phone works fine on G.729. Recording messages in the asterisk voice-mailbox also works fine from both my SIP phone as well as PSTN -> Cisco -> Asterisk. I have licensed the digium G.729A codec. When I connect my ISDN PRI to my Zap card and I call
