Asterisk to Email
How can this scenario be implemented please? THIS IS NOT A SEND TEXT application. A call arrives on the IVR. After hearing several vectors to guide the person through information I want to confirm a transaction via email to his cell phone. Specifically, I want to use his phone number and then append the SMTP suffix from his service provider. Press 1 if you use Verizon, 2 if you use ATT, 3 if

Strange Sip (FWD, SipGate and such) problem
Hi all I use sipgate and FWD but seem not to get it going. I do not have NAT on the asterisk box (static ip). The asterisk box has 2 network interfaces. One internal and one external. Now when I make an call to a FWD or SipGate number all I get is -- Executing NoOp("SIP/113-6d2e", "") in new stack -- Executing Goto("SIP/113-6d2e",

[cluster package question] What is the "sum of the dissimilarities" in the pam command ?
Hello Martin Maechler and All, A simple question (I hope): How can I compute the "sum of the dissimilarities" that appears in the pam command (from the cluster package) ? Is it the "manhattan" distance (such as the one implemented by "dist") ? I am asking since I am running clustering on a dataset. I found 7 medoids with the pam command, and from it I have the

netCDF to TIFF
Greetings R users! I am working with the ENSEMBLE climate data (10 min resolution daily temperatures images for all of Europe 1950-2006). The data comes packaged in a single netCDF file. I would like to read the data in and export a subset (2002-2006) as geotiffs (one image per day). So far, I can successfully read in the data and view the images within an R display window. However, I have yet to

Any functions to manipulate (merge, cut, remove) hclust objects? (maybe through phylo?)
Hello all, I'm now working with hclust objects and was hoping to perform some basic editing on them like: - Joining = the merging of two hclust objects (so they will share one root) - Splicing = So to cut/extract a branch out of an hclust object - that by itself will be an hclust object. I noticed I could extract one element of an hclust object by turning it into a dendrogram,

Grouped regression
Hi, I am a very occasional user of R, and will be grateful for some help in constructing a regression across groups. Here is an example: library(MASS) attach(cats) Sex[120:144]<-factor(TG) #Renaming some males to transgender, to create 3 groups, male, female and transgender out<-lm(Bwt~Sex/Hwt) #Gives me 3 separate linear regressions for groups M, F and TG What I now want to do

I need to create new variables based on two numeric variables and one dichotomize conditional category variables.
Just a minor point in the suggested solution: df$LAP <- with(df, ifelse(G=='male', (WC-65)*TG, (WC-58)*TG)) since WC and TG are not conditional, would this be a slight improvement? df$LAP <- with(df, TG*(WC - ifelse(G=='male', 65, 58))) -----Original Message----- From: R-help <r-help-bounces at r-project.org> On Behalf Of Jorgen Harmse via R-help Sent: Friday,

I need to create new variables based on two numeric variables and one dichotomize conditional category variables.
I might have factored the gender. I'm not sure it would in any way be quicker. But might be to some extent easier to develop variations of. And is sort of what factors should be doing... # make dummy data gender <- c("Male", "Female", "Male", "Female") WC <- c(70,60,75,65) TG <- c(0.9, 1.1, 1.2, 1.0) myDf <- data.frame( gender, WC, TG ) #

Challenging SQL for you...
Gents, My heads been out of the sql game for too long (or it''s simply too early). I''m trying to extend the acts_as_taggable plugin (note: not gem) so that you can specify a list of tags you''re interested in, and the plugin will return only those items that are tagged with *all* these tags. The plugin uses primarily two tables: tags, to keep all the various tag

annotating an axis in bwplot (lattice)
Hi, I'd like to add, say, the sample size for every group in a bwplot as a parenthetical annotation to the axis. Here's a sketch: --8<---------------cut here---------------start------------->8--- require(Hmisc) age <- sample(1:100, 1000, replace = TRUE) sex <- gl(2, 8, 1000, c("Male", "Female")) grp <- gl(4, 6, 1000, letters[1:4]) bwplot(grp ~ age |

[PATCH v2 0/3] common: Add a lightweight OCaml binding for PCRE.
v2: - Change the OCaml code in the daemon to use PCRE instead of Str. - Call pcre_compile2 so we can capture the error code on failure. - Extend the test suite. - Some other cleanups, but very minor. Rich.

I need to create new variables based on two numeric variables and one dichotomize conditional category variables.
df$LAP <- with(df, ifelse(G=='male', (WC-65)*TG, (WC-58)*TG)) That will do both calculations and merge the two vectors appropriately. It will use extra memory, but it should be much faster than a 'for' loop. Regards, Jorgen Harmse. ------------------------------ Message: 8 Date: Fri, 3 Nov 2023 11:10:49 +1030 From: "Md. a question about function eval()
Hi, I have a question about the usage of eval(). Wonder if any experienced user can help me out of it. I use eval() in the following function: semireg.pwl <- function(coef.s=rnorm(1),coef.a=rnorm(1),knots.pos=knots.x,knots.ini.val=knots.val){ knotn <- length(knots.pos) def.par.env <- sys.frame(1) print(def.par.env) print(environment(coef.s)) tg <- eval( (parse(text=

[EXTERNAL] RE: I need to create new variables based on two numeric variables and one dichotomize conditional category variables.
Yes, that will halve the number of multiplications. If you?re looking for such optimisations then you can also consider ifelse(G=='male', 65L, 58L). That will definitely use less time & memory if WC is integer, but the trade-offs are more complicated if WC is floating point. Regards, Jorgen Harmse. Re-order columns
Dear R'sians, Would really appreciate if you could suggest a more efficient way to order the columns of a dataset. The column names of the dataset contain indices separated by a period. Following are examples of my code and the dataset. oC <- function(tg=x2) { lth <- length(grep("T",names(tg))) thix <-

I need to create new variables based on two numeric variables and one dichotomize conditional category variables.
Hello Everyone, I have three variables: Waist circumference (WC), serum triglyceride (TG) level and gender. Waist circumference and serum triglyceride is numeric and gender (male and female) is categorical. From these three variables, I want to calculate the "Lipid Accumulation Product (LAP) Index". The equation to calculate LAP is different for male and females. I am giving both
