3Ware Escalade 9500S controller question
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Greetings folks, I'm currently redoing my home server as one of the hard drives in my RAID-1 array went down and I'm going to replace the lot of it with a 3Ware Escalade 9500S RAID capable card and four Seagate 200GB SATA drives. These drives are supposedly the coolest and quietest SATA drives available (better than the Maxtors I had anyway)

Offtopic: 3ware Raid Controllers
Hi! I know this is a little bit offtopic, but i couldn't think of any other place where i can get uninfluenced first hand information on these controllers :) I've read about and experienced data loss/system lockup with older 3ware controllers, but the 3ware Escalade 7xxx (i'm especially interested in the 7850) sounds too good to ignore it (8 channels, 8 drives, raid 0/1/5/10,

More info on 3Ware 9550SX from the field (in case anyone else is interested)
From a buddy of mine that has spent a little time with the new cards. This was in response to my email asking about his impressions of them: It just came out in mid-September. There are a couple reasons I'm not thrilled with it: 1) no 8-port multilane version (only 12) 2) the 8-port non-multilane version is a kludge, connector-wise (a row of 3 double-stacked connectors along the

3ware SATA RAID Card
I've a 3ware Escalade 8006-2 and run Centos 4.2 using the latest kernel 2.6.9-34.0.2.ELsmp. I see that the card comes with some disk management tools called 3DM2 Management Utility. Is this ok to install? Is it good for reporting failed drives? Thanks Jon ___________________________________________________________ All New Yahoo! Mail ? Tired of Vi at gr@! come-ons? Getting kernel panic when installer starts formatting partitions. Was: How to get 3Ware 9500S controller card working in CentOS 3.1?
In regard of the e-mail sent on Jul/16/04 about the 3Ware 9500S. Has anyone experienced/solved this issue ?? I'm having a similar problem, I already have the system installed on a separate disk, now I want to make the filesystem on the RAID partition (using 3Ware 9500S-8). First I had the problem that the card will keep resetting after continous timeouts whenever I tried loading the

Centos 3.4 3ware 9500S Floppy Boot Disk
We have created a Centos 9500S Floppy Boot Disk for installing Centos on a 3ware 9500S series controller that will allow installing and booting directly from this controller. This boot disk supports only AMD XP, MP and Opterons in 32 bit mode Centos 3.4 for the up and smp versions. We can also do a x86_64 version if required. Any interest???? If so we will post it to our web site. Thanks

Re: Hardware RAID Controller -- not a "bug"
From: Joshua Baker-LePain <jlb17 at duke.edu> > I'm in the midst of testing a dual 9500-12 based system, and I've got all > sorts of results (I posted tiobench numbers for XFS and ext3 recently). Until the Escalade 9500S series matures, I've been recommending the following: 3Ware Escalade 7506/8506 for RAID-10. 3Ware Escalade 7506/8506 for RAID-5 when it is largely a

[Hardware] Good Server I/O on-the-cheap: ASL Monarch 811x with CentOS 4.2 ...
Since good server designs have come up in the past, I wanted to point out a "low-cost" server option that has good I/O, and the vendor offers _your_choice_ of not only Fedora Core or Red Hat Enterprise Linux, but _also_ CentOS _shipped_ with it! IN-A-NUTSHELL ... Starting at just over $750, you can get a single Socket-939 Opteron 1xx (dual-core is an option) system with up to 4GiB of

Raid / dual Opteron power issues
Hi All, I've just started caring for a dual Opteron machine. It has a 3Ware 9500S-12 RAID controller, a Tyan S2882G3NR motherboard, 10 IBM 400GB disk drives, and a 650 watt power supply. It has been behaving itself quite nicely until recently. The poor behavior started when I upgraded the OS from CentOS 4.1 (32 bit) to Centos 4.1 (x86_64). When running in uniprocessor mode, the system
