Same username on SIP & IAX?
Hello, In setting up * for my company's office and remote employees, I have a question about how to log one username into * as either a SIP account, or IAX account. For example, we will be using SIP phones in the office locally to the * server, however some employees travel, and want to use IAX (as it's much friendlier with firewall/proxy setups than SIP) clients on their notebooks.

Feedback needed! FindMe/FollowMe FeatureSpec.
Hi Adam, I appreciate your feedback, and understand totally where you're coming from as far as the database perspective goes. For the first "draft" of the app, I think I'm going to let it default to using a conf file for two reasons. First, my setup currently does not utilize a database. I would like to move to that type of a setup in the future however. Secondly, seeing as

Feedback needed! FindMe/FollowMe Feature Spec.
Hello all, I'm going to tackle learning C this week, and start writing my first * add-on/contribution; assuming it's actually worthy of contributing once it's done.. I think I've chosen a hefty project for my first go round here... I'd like to get some feedback from everyone on a FindMe/FollowMe spec I've put together. Before you read on, let me say, I don't want

Cisco 7960 XML/Configs
I ordered 10 7960's with SIP today (YAY!), I should have them on Monday! So, to be better prepared come Monday morning, I was wondering if anyone knew of any * compatible screen configs for things such as browsing VM, etc, yadda, yadda. I checked out the wiki about ADSI but from what I see, that's not really applicable in a SIP setup? I'm guessing it's going to be a more XML

Cisco 7960 NAT question
I've got 4 Cisco 7960's and they're behind a firewall (sonic wall). The asterisk box is on a WAN connection on the other end of a DS3, the phones connect fine to the Asterisk server as you can see from the output of show sip peers below. tp3/tp3 <firewall-ip> D N 255.255.255.255 60665 Unmonitored tp2/tp2 <firewall-ip> D N

spandsp hylafax asterisk and confusion
I have been attempting to download, compile and configure spandsp to function with * without much luck. I am guessing that some assumptions were made regarding the users knowledge level of Linux. Sadly, I must not live up to those assumptions. My problem begins when after compiling spandsp I look for the app_rxfax.c, app_txfax.c, app_dtmftotext.c and makefile.patch files to place in the

Sonicwall potentially causing long ping times to SIP phones
Hi, I'm having an issue where some phones behind a sonicwall are auto-congesting. The status on "sip show peer" shows ping times anywhere from 80ms all the way up to 1100ms. PCs behind the same firewall have a ping time of about 30ms to the PBX itself. Does anyone know if the sonicwall is inserting delay into the SIP signaling path and lagging the OPTIONS messages for qualify?

Polycom IP600 - no ring?
Have a strange problem... When a C7960 calls the Polycom ip600, the ip600's first line button blinks, the ip600 display shows the proper callerid, but the phone does not ring at all. If I call the same ip600 from a bt102, the ip600 rings properly. If I call the same ip600 from another C7960, the ip600 rings properly. All phones and asterisk are on the same lan within a few feet. Polycom dhcp boot
Hi all I have a few Polycom 331's but after following allot of advice I can't get them to provision from a dhcp boot server. We have a sonicwall router in place. I can press setup and set the FTP boot server to my * box. From there th phones boot fine. But I cannot get them to autoprovision. I have tried dhcp option 66=ipaddres. 66=FTP://PlcmSpIp:PlcmSpIp at 192.168.1.1/ u ahve also

Samba WINS issues over VPN
I am running Samba 3.4.8 as a PDC on Solaris 10. I recently made this the WINS master- previously the BDC (Samba 3.0.37 on another Solaris 10 server.) I also use Sonicwall ipsec VPN for remote access (Windows XP clients.) The sonicwall client creates a virtual NIC on the client so that the client can have an IP address directly on the company LAN (ie. the same LAN as the samba

Node behind SonicWall Router
Recently the small business I work at replaced an aging linksys wrt style router with a SonicWall one. Ever since this change I have issues with this node falling back to TCP constantly. TCP for me ends up performing very sub-par, and most of the time unworkable. For some reason too the connection usually ends up being routed through another node. I created a new tinc instance using TAP

Dovecot pop3 and SonicWall?
Hello Has anyone else run into a problem with dovecot pop3 and sonicwall? A week after switching to dovecot we had two local customers call and report they could no longer download emails with attachments. It turned out to be the email macro filter on the router. After the first report I thought maybe the customer had just changed something or it was a fluke, but then a day later we had the

IAX2 + Sonicwall
Hi all, I currently have an Asterisk test server behind a TZ170 Sonicwall firewall / NAT box, with several DIDs. I've found that inbound IAX2 calls don't work reliably (i.e., I get a busy tone) unless I enable "Use Consistent NAT" in the Sonicwall. This feature is poorly documented by Sonicwall, so I thought I'd pass it along. Has anyone else run into this, or figured

best MTU?
Hi all, I have several locations, each connected by a Sonicwall VPN through PPPOE DSL, with Snom 360 phones. I've found that I have to tweak the Asterisk server MTU (inside one of the firewalls) to get everything to work "just right". Set the server MTU too low, and the Snom phones don't communicate correctly anymore. Too high and the phones work, but the server can't
