mongrel_cluster: selective restarts
Hi list,
I have tried to reach Bradley (author of mongrel_cluster) by mail, but
have not gotten a response. So I''ll try trough this channel:
I have ''developed''[1] a small extension to mongrel_cluster that allows
selective restart of any one listener in a configuration that contains
more than one listener by using a command like

rsync-2.5.5 memory eater problem
Hi,
we ran into a little problem with rsync-2.5.5.
Setup: you run rsync-2.5.5 as normal rsync over ssh
(ie. not connecting to a rsync server). If you start
such a rsync but interrupt the pulling process with Ctrl-C,
the process on the other side may start to allocate all
memory on the remote machine.
As fa as we have analyzed the problem, the remote rsync
process wants to issue a error message

[Ferret] QueryParser memory leak bug (Joyent/OpenSolaris)
QueryParser fails badly allocating enormous amount of memory when
processing query strings with special/accented characters. See:

Find last row (observation) for each combination of variables
Let's say I have a data.frame like
A B C TS other columns
1 1 1 12345
1 1 1 56789
1 2 1 23456
1 2 2 23457
2 4 7 23458
2 4 7 34567
2 4 7 45678
and I want the last row for each unique combination of A/B/C, where by "last" I mean greatest TS.
A B C TS other columns
1 1 1 56789
1 2 1 23456
1 2 2 23457
2 4 7 45678
I did this simply in SAS:
proc sort data=DF;
by A B C descending TS

Ejemplo:
ID
FECHA
VALOR
1
01/04/1965
25578
2

High Availability with Samba and Heartbeat
Since I get so much from this list I thought I would share a project
I've been working on and how it works with samba (3.0.1). It is Samba
related so I hope it's not off topic.
I've set up a HA solution with redundant Samba Domain Controllers
throuth the "Heartbeat" package at:

[osol-help] ZFS two way replication
Sorry for double-post. This thread was posted separately to

Based on all the description you gave, I wouldn''t call this two-way
replication. Because two-way replication implies changes are happening at

Sweeping a zoo series
Given a long zoo matrix, the goal is to "sweep" out a statistic from the
entire length of the
sequences.
longzoomatrix<-zoo(matrix(rnorm(720),ncol=6),as.yearmon(outer(1900,seq(0,length=120)/12,"+")))
cnames<-c(12345,23456,34567,45678,56789,67890)
