Modems compatible with NTL caller id
I'm looking at using a modem to provide caller ID info on my NTL line
following the steps in the article posted by Darren Poulson:
http://www.22balmoralroad.net/modules.php?name=Sections&op=viewarticle&artid=1
I was wondering if anybody had experience of using any modems (can be
pci/isa/external) with an ntl line (in an ex. Cable & Wireless area if
it makes a difference) and

I'm using a macro such that if a call is forwarded to my mobile, I can
choose to accept it or not. This is done with the following Dial command:
Dial(IAX2/voiptalk/44${ARG1:1},15,trM(screen)ow)
and the following macro:
[macro-screen] ; Allow called user to accept/reject the call

PSTN Call drops randomly
Dear List members,
After succesfully installing the * on a couple of systems, and putting
them on test, I observed that there is an intermittent call drop on
PSTN line.
The systems are

- Built-in ethernet
- 1 X100P (Motorolla chip) card on PCI
- 10G HDD etc.
- Asterisk April 17 CVS.
- 2 Mediatrix FXS ATA (4 phones)
- 2 Grandstream phones.
- sip.conf, zaptel.comnf

AgentCalled event
Hi,
I'm writing a Java client/server application that talks to the Asterisk
manager interface via the asterisk-java stuff. The idea being it will
give you an app to run on your desktop that monitors your phone
essentially. Once I've got something vaguely working it will be released
under the GPL and hopefully people will contribute to it etc...
As part of this, I'm currently

Problem with x-ten lite
Dear Group,
At the moment I use SJPhone as my soft phone with Asterisk.
I prefer the look and feel of the x-ten lite. However, when ever I use my
x-ten lite I get a lot of breakup in my communication.
E.g. I will play some hold music, and every 5-6 seconds I drop some packets.
I don't have the same issue with SJPhone.
I'm sure this is a configuration issues, but I can work

Calling CHRIS BARNET (PRI / E100P / ntl)
Chris you might know the answer to my HUUUUUUGE problem
A few weeks ago you posted this message:

is currently working happily with an SDX Index phone system. I have to
replace this phone system shortly and I've been trying to get a * system

NTL Hangup
Hi all,
I'm currently on an NTL PSTN line, using Asterisk 1.2 and a X101P cheapo
card.
The problem lies with detecting when the far end has hung up. It fails
to detect it, and will only cleardown when the silence timeout has been
reached. Now, I've seen the thread at
http://www.mail-archive.com/asterisk-users@lists.digium.com/msg32337.html,
to which nothing has come of it. That was

Re: [2] X100p problem
When I enable callprogress I get this error message...
(when I call, it will ring forever but asterisk is acting as if it DID pick up the line ... but it never did... )
I'm beginning to think that asterisk can't hangup the line when in voice mail and this, whatever action I'll take...
Actually, callprogress doesn't seem to work at all... (in my case)

Call parking query
Hi everybody,
I would like to set asterisk up such that to use the call parking
feature, instead of transferring a call to the extension set up in
features.conf, you just dial a code (e.g. *3) and this then parks the
call. The main reason for this is that a number of the phones I use have
transfer buttons that I can't reprogram to use Asterisk's own transfer
functions, therefore you

New busydetect routines for analog channels (FXO mostly)
Hello,
I've commited the new busydetect routine to CVS.
You need to cvs update asterisk of course and then choose it
in asterisk/Makefile and recompile asterisk.
All you X100P users that had the problems
with false hangups or the card not being able to detect the busy tone
please check that.
In the asterisk/Makefile you need to find a line
BUSYDETECT =
and uncomment what you want/ comment

Echo on Zaptel FXO :(
Hi All,
I've got an MD3200 modem which is working as a Zaptel FXO interface for
Asterisk (X100P clone I believe). It seems to work, but on incoming or
outgoing calls I can hear the other party ok but when I speak, I hear
my voice echo back at me (quite quietly but it's distracting!) on
everything I say. The other party doesn't seem to hear the echo - they
just say I sound a bit quiet.

Anyone know about callerid format used by NTL in Cambridge?
Hi,
Does anyone know anything about the callerid format that NTL uses here
in Cambridge, UK. This is the former Cambridge Cable, who is
sometimes different from the rest of NTL.
They did say that only some equipment works with their switch. I
hoped that they might use US-style CID, which would work with the
X100P, but it doesn't seem to come through.
I do notice that my DECT phone bought

I've today received an E100P.
Can anyone help me out with the config of this card please. We have an

Also what do the LEDs on the back of the card mean ?
Many thanks

busydetect and X100P hangups
FYI to anyone else who may be experiencing random hangups; I removed the
busydetect=yes lines from the conf files on my asterisk servers, and
haven't had a hangup since.
I had done that once before and it didn't seem to have much of an
effect, so I'm not breaking out the champagne yet. But so far over
dozens of calls both made and received since I took that line out, I

Voicemail / Dial command issue
Hi,
I have a load of IAX extensions, which I'm trying to set up a standard
macro to dial them, which gives unavailable or busy voicemail if there
is no answer or the phone is in use respectively.
The macro I have at the moment is:
; std-exten macro, ${ARG1} = Device to call, ${ARG2} = voicemail box
[macro-std-exten]
; Call the user for 20 seconds
exten => s,1,Dial(${ARG1},20,tr)

X100P random hangups.
I have a couple of X100P's in my system and while on calls they just randomly hang up for no reason.
I have tried messing with the busydetect and callprogress setting them to yes and no same and still random hangups. Is there another setting I should be looking at?
My zap config looks like.

UK install
Well I'm slowly learning my way around asterisk although as yet I
haven't had the chance to actually hook the system up to an ISDN line.
I am going to migrate from an Argent Office setup. My only problem is
keeping costs down on the phones.
The Argent system is running about 30 POTS phones. Can someone suggest
the cheapest option? Should I get some kind of large scale FXS box or

FXO recommendation
Hi all,
With the gamut of FXO cards out there, I'm looking for a recommendation for
home use. I have a nicely working Asterisk 1.4 system that just requires an
FXO card to connect my NTL PSTN to it. My previous X101P clone seems to have
kicked the bucket.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Regards
Kyle
