Voice Modem + Soundcard Driver
The problem with using Voice Modems is that they fall into two categories: 1) Hardware Modems which only have half-duplex transmission of voice 2) Soft/Win/Lin modems which are proprietry and don't have asterisk drivers Please shoot down this recipe before I waste any time trying to acheive it: Rationalisation: ---------------- In Australia and I assume other places, there is no

Voice quality of Softphones vs. IP Phones an d Gateways.
In our experience, the total cost of softphones(money, reduced sound quality and lower reliability) in a large call center environment is actually greater over time than the cost of a channelbank and cheap analog headphones. We've tried 2 softphones, 2 kinds of SIP VOIP hardphones, 2 kinds of SIP analog adapters and we've tried channelbanks over the last 3 years. Right now we are half done

Voice quality of Softphones vs. IP Phones and Gateways.
I've tried almost any softphone available on the market with many different PC, soundcard, headphones combinations. None of them prooved production reliable in a call center environment. I've also tested many IP Phones and Gateways. Even the cheapest one supplies much better quality. Is this a fact or am I missing a point. I would certanly prefer a softphone because of cost and

Asterisk - Soundcard - Recording?
Greetings- I've got a curious project that I could use some input on. I'd like to use Asterisk to record some audio channels via USB 'soundcard'. When audio passes through the soundcard, Asterisk should grab that audio channel (CONSOLE?), and write it to a wav file. I'm perfectly competent with the dialplan portion of the recording, but I don't know about the following:

Isa Soundcard under CentOS 5
Hello, Under Fedora Core 6 I used to integrate the soundcard of my notebook with modprobe snd-opl3sa2. Now, after changing my system to CentOS 5, I could not find this module for my isa soundcard any more. # ls -al /lib/modules/2.6.18-8.1.1.el5/kernel/sound/isa/ insgesamt 24 drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 4096 27. Getting programs to detect my soundcard
I have a problem, that some programs don't detect my soundcard. Sound works fine in others, but they don't detect it, and refuse to start because of it. Usually the crash logs tell me to make sure that the sound card is enabled, and when listing the hardware, everything else is correctly listed, except the sound card , which shows like: Code: Sound : () How can I configure wine, so

wine 1.1.4 and 2nd soundcard (alsa)
Moin, I am using a kind of VoIP Software (Echolink) that run perfekt with the build in soundcard. But I want to use my headset, that appears as soundcard 1 (hw:1.0). I can choose the soundcard in Echolink (default, external and system default), but this goes to the build in card independent from this setting. Can I configure wine to use the 2nd card? Or can I configure wine to use the 2nd

Questions wrt system-config-soundcard
1) What exactly happens when I press the "reload audio drivers" button? I want a command-line analogue, so that I can do it remotely, via ssh (and no X forwarding). 2) How to manually set the order of sound cards and the default one, again using only command line, as I would do in the GUI of system-config-soundcard? 3) Why don't the settings made there stick? I have three to four

Sound with headphones on: Streamaudio perfect but youtube and system-config-soundcard silent
This afternoon, I bought a pair of ear plugs (the large flat kind that hook onto my ears). Plugged them in to test and they work perfectly. I'm listening to streamaudio.com as I type this. However, when I tried to watch a youtube.com video (my wife exercise dancing) just silence. She had the same video on to test and the sound was fine on her box. Then, I tried system-config-soundcard and

The output of all the Winamp's can be sent to the same soundcard. We will just keep the sound

Soundcard software...
Hi, I have an M-Audio soundcard. All of the software on the driver CD has .exe file extensions and I can't get any of it to load in Debian Lenny. Will WINE allow me to install my soundcard driver software? Cheers, JOn.

Strange soundcard problem w/4.2
Hi there, I'm trying to repurpose an unused machine (athlon XP 3000+) for my young daughter to use. It's on a motherboard with a VIA KT880 chipset and VIA integrated soundcard (VIA 8237). The card seems to be detected during boot time and shows up in the system log, but when I try to actually use the sound card within Gnome, there's no sound. The device is detected, but

It could be, is your listening client on the same network, or is it over the internet? How fast is the connection between the icecast server and the listening client? It also could be because of a known bug in shout. Don't use shout. Use ices. Shout hasn't been

Dummy soundcard driver for Windows (OT)
We want to setup multiple streams using multiple copies of Winamp/SQRSoft crossfader/OddCast. We are guessing that somewhere between 16 and 24 streams may be supported on one dual-processor PC. However, rather than sending the output of all the streams to a soundcard (which may cause problems?), I thought it should be possible to send the output to a dummy soundcard driver. I was sure one

Host IP address, Crash on startup, Console grabs soundcard - Newbie needs help
I'm an asterisk newbie, so initially tried to install it on a Mandrake 10.1 (see config below) and with a bit of messing about using sample config, have been able to make the test call to device 1000, and also through to the IAX test number at Digium. However, operation is extremely flaky - I cannot reliably startup and use the system on a regular basis. I have several problems listed below

I have two grandstream budtetone-100 and cisco 7960g phones. When I talk via speaker phone on either of the phones I get a lot of echo. Any suggestions? Also how do I turn on the mark echo canceller. -----Original Message----- From: asterisk-users-admin@lists.digium.com [mailto:asterisk-users-admin@lists.digium.com] On Behalf Of asterisk-users-request@lists.digium.com Sent: Tuesday, April 13,

RESOLVED - TE405P vs. SoundCard problem (in reality - TE405P No Voice Problem)
Forget the sound card. It isn't related. The subject above should have read 'TE405P No Voice Problem' or something similar. It appears to be a zaptel timing issue, but I have found a workaround. For those of you just tuning in, here is the story: I have a CentOS/Intel 865 box currently running Asterisk 1.2.7.1 and zap 1.2.5, both compiled from the source available off the main

USB SoundCard no longer recognized in 1.3.25
I just upgraded to wine-1.3.25 from the PPA repository and my USB soundcard is no longer recognized. (I have pulseaudio disabled, and the USB set as my "default" card.) I use Dragon NaturallySpeaking. The program's message says "The audio input device is not responding." and "The sound system does not support the requested waveform audio format." But alsamixer
