Registering Softphones to Asterisk
Hi,
We have set up our Asterisk server, our extension.conf and sip.conf
according to
http://www.onlamp.com/pub/a/onlamp/2003/07/03/asterisk.html?page=4
It's quite basic, and extension.conf is set up properly. The difficulty we
are now encountering is in sip.conf, in trying to get any softphone to
register at our own Asterisk server.
We have searched the mailing list, and find bits and

Softphone for Linux recommendation
Can anyone _recommend_ a downloadable OSS softphone that _works_ under
Linux and is compatible with Asterisk.
So far I have tried kphone and linphone and had problems with both, and
I am still waiting to hear back from the X-Lite beta folks.

Strange softphone problem
Now here is strange problem i experience. Setup is easy, IAX line out
with SIP softphone registered to Asterisk. All work fine except for one
client. When using Sjphone the other end can not hear a thing. When
using X-pro the opposite happens, local user can not hear a thing. These
softphones work fine on other clients on same network. I've also tested
several headsets but same outcome. Also

"403 Forbidden" between two softphones on same Asterisk
Hi,
I have two softphones connected to an Asterisk "stable". I have two
extensions, say 1000 and 2000. When 1000 calls 2000, the call cannot be
completed; the softphone (either Diax97a , SJphone, Firefly 1.8) on
extension 2000 will ring, but as soon as the call is picked up, extension
2000 will hang up the call.
The softphone on 1000 (SIP, SJphone, e.g.) will give a "403

Offtopic: improving softphone latency on Linux?
Hi folks
last weekend, I tried Windows Messenger first time and was stunned by
the little latency it gives. Until now, I've been using softphones on
Linux exclusively, like iaxcomm, linphone and sjphone, and they all give
me about 1, at times even 2 secs delay. Whereas Messenger really seems
to be in the millisec range.
Of course, I'm now curious why there is that difference. Clearly,

Working softphone for poket PC
Googling arround I found a number of pocket pc softphones. Of those I was only able to install SJ-something (removed it).
Is there one (pocket pc softphone) that works?
Thanks,

soft phones -- voice quality tuning
I've got the XTEN Lite soft phone mostly working with * but it's
dropping out like a very bad cell phone call.
The GSM codec is worst (unusable), G711u and G711a are best but
not good enough to use.
I don't think it's a lack of bandwidth.
What tuning options or approaches should I be investigating to
make this work.
Also, what's the best soft phone(s) for Windows XP?

Really Wierd softphone problem ... must read
Hey guys,
I have just developed this problem with my Windows XP box. I think it
started since I installed XP SP2. Both SJPhone and Xlite does some
kind of bridging with the speaker out port. When ever I make a sip call to
where ever, the other party hears a lot of echoing. Well I noticed just
now when I was playing mp3's via Winamp, the music was being played
through my sip calls that I

Today's Message from linphone; update on Khpone and SJPhone and X-Lite
Today's "frustrated programmer" award goes to Linphone, which has the
following debug output:
> (linphone:28655): LinphoneCore-WARNING **: this fucking remote sip phone did not answered properly to my sdp offer!
I get this message when I connect to linphone using a softphone, or when
I try to use linphone to connect to asterisk and listen to an
announcement. I suspect that

SJPhone, asterisk and DTMF
I'm currently using the SJPhone softphone with asterisk for remote SIP.
When I dial into the voicemail, and attempt to pass the extension, I
"hear" the sounds, but asterisk is not receiving any DTMF signals. If I
use the Estera softphone, asterisk does receive the DTMF signals.
Normally, I'd just say "Use the Estera" softphone to myself, but that's
not an option,

Asterisk & SIP
Good morning all,
I'm setting up Asterisk for the first time with no prior PBX experience.
I'm following Andy Powell's 'Getting Started with Asterisk'
(http://www.automated.it/guidetoasterisk.htm). This is my second time
through that document - as I did something weird the first time and really
upset it somehow - and I wanted to ask a few general questions of the list.

2 minutes pause before ring on H323 channel
I have build asterisk from latest CVS HEAD-05/09/05 with H323 support as described in README file.
Open H.323 version v1.17.1 and PWLib v1.9.0 on Mandrake Linux 10.2 kernel-2.6.11
I tested it with following phones:
-- XLite (SIP softphone)
-- QMix SIP IP phone (PA168F)
-- SJPhone (H323 softphone)
-- QMix H323 IP phone (PA168F)
-- FireFly (IAX2 softphone)
Everything works fine except a problem

Re: [Asterisk-Dev] Softphone for PocketPC or iPaq
I have tried sjphone - worked well, although I think my 3 year old IPAQ
had a bit of a hard time keeping up with the pace as there was quite a
delay in the speech. Probably says more about my ancient IPAQ than
SJPhone.

Softphone lag
Hi,
IF i use a sip softphone or a iax softphone with asterisk, i get a lag of about 1 second.
The two phones were on 2 different pc's near me. When I speak on one, i hear it on the other after about 1 second.
I tried using iaxComm, Xten Xlite, etc. Same.
FYI: The codec used was GSM.
Using the fxo and fxs interfaces on the digium cards with POTS have no such issues.
Any clue where the
