binary RPMs
Hi everybody.
I know that we can normally install source rpms designed for RH9 and FC1,
but can we also install the binary RPMs for RH9 and/or FC1 on a CentOS 3
system ?

Moved samba doesn't work
Moved samba (acting as a standalone system) from a RH9 system to a FC1
system. It wont authenticate the users. Here is more of the specifics:
1. Users log into a Samba PDC.
2. Login scripts setup their mappings
3. Some mappings are on the PDC (these still work)
4. Some mappings are on the standalone server.
5. The version of samba on RH9 is 2.2.7
6. The version of samba on FC1 is 3.0.4

What is vuid?
I'm getting the following errors in my error logs:
ERROR! vuid 100 did not map to a valid vuser struct!
At the time this error was being created I was trying to add a domain user as
a local admin. I was trying to get the browse list of domain users up, but
being denied.

aio_pthread on Debian?
Hello list,
I am looking to enable samba aio on my Wheezy test box (I have version 4.1.17 from back ports).
The output of smbd -b shows that the stable packages for my distro are not compiled using --with-aio-support. It appears that without recompiling I can use vfs objects = aio_pthread to achieve a similar effect?
I'm aware that this somewhat dips into Debian specifics, but I figured

logon path question
This link:
http://us3.samba.org/samba/docs/man/smb.conf.5.html#LOGONPATH
States that:
"Windows clients can sometimes maintain a connection to the [homes] share,
even though there is no user logged in. Therefore, it is vital that the logon
path does not include a reference to the homes share (i.e. setting this
parameter to \%N\%U\profile_path will cause problems)."

[LLVMdev] Machine Code for different architectures
Hi Johnny,
Thanks for this - particularly the tip about cfe-dev. I'm currently
trying to coerce lldb to debug these type of architectures (our
current toolchain already outputs good dwarf info). However, I'm
struggling since lldb has just assumes that the size of a byte is
universally 8-bits. At some stage, I *think* at some stage we'd like to
derive a compiler, from the "same

residual plots for lmer in lme4 package
Hi,
I was wondering if I might be able to ask some advice about doing residual
plots for the lmer function in the lme4 package.
Our group's aim is to find if the expression staining of a particular gene
in a sample (or "core") is related to the pathology of the core.
To do this, we used the lmer function to perform a logistic mixed model
below. I apologise in advance

Samba PDC - Solaris 8 or 9??
If anyone has Samba setup to run as a PDC with Solaris 8 or 9 could you
drop me a line? I have a few questions I would like ask. Our shop is
looking at trying to implement this option with our SMB master. I didnt
want to clutter up the list with more than one request.

[LLVMdev] Machine Code for different architectures
Hi Patrik,
Thanks for this note. It's encouraging to read there has been some
provision made for non-8-bit bytes. I'm not a compiler/backend expert,
(although maybe I'll need to be soon!), so I won't look at the patches
right now, however may at some stage in the future myself or colleague
may request these patches from yourself.
Yes, our 24-bit architectures have non-power-of-2

UNIX paths vs UNC names in [profile]
Alright, I can be a bit thick sometimes, but by RTFM or other documentation
I've solved a problem.

aio_pthread on Debian?
Hello Volker,
Thank you for the reply.
I've seen your name mentioned several times against this topic :-)

This is the thing... it looks like the Debian packages (stable + back port) are built without the --with-aio-support (at least

Point&print problem: printer names show the ip, not the server name.
Hello,
i have this strange problem with printing and server naming after upgrading a server from
RH9 (running Samba 3.0.3 ) to Fedora Core 1 (3.0.7-2.FC1). Everything was working before
the upgrade, but i immediately started noticing some peculiarities after restoring the samba
files (/etc/samba, /var/cache/samba) and starting samba. The problem manifests by the
following:

lmer error:flist must be a non-empty list
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone could give me advice regarding using the lmer
command in lme4 package to do logistic regression (mixed effects model).
I use the following command
lmer(ISH ~ArrayPathology2, random=~1|PatientID, data=HSDB4.noNA,
family="binomial")
where ISH is outcome(0 or 1), ArrayPathology2 is the variable of
interest(factor), PatientID is random effect(factor), and

HTB stalling
Hi
Couple months ago I started to have a strange problem with HTB.
My setup is Fedora Core 2 + Pentium 2 233 + 128 MB of ram and its serving as
a router.
For some time since going to kernel 2.6 my HTB QoS Stalls for couple
seconds, every couple minutes. If the connection load is bigger the stalling
is more frequent and takes longer.
I isolated the problem to be with HTB (CBQ works fine).

Dovecot stop accepting command When reading disk quota (soft)
Hello all,
I've face some problem here and I think it should be the way.
1) I'm running Dovecot version 0.99.10.4 (fc1 release) on RH9
2) One of the users have reach the soft disk quota limits
3) Dovecot stop the users from deleting email.
What I think was, dovecot should let the user continue to use the
services until it reach the hard limits, but pop up message each and
every time ;).

Profile Funniness on a Solaris 9 PDC
I'm running Samba 3 as a PDC on a Solaris 9 box. I am able to create profiles
and add stuff to the profile (by logging in for the first time), however
nothing ever seems to get deleted from the profile.
For example, if I remove both the local profile and the profile as it exists
on the PDC, and then login the new profile gets created perfectly. If I then
add a "Temporary

Hi Chris,
Where to get the 'double ##' transfer patch? We are having the same
problem and I was thinking of a similar patch.
Thanks,

Logging into WIndows 2000 ADS from Linux Clients
Hi everyone,
I want to convert some 50 new machines that an organization is getting into Fedora Linux workstations.
This is the current setup:
The organization currently has one Primary Windows 2000 ADS and 2 numbers of Windows 2000 servers acting as Backup domain servers.
There are currently some 50 workstations already in the network and these are all Windows 2000 professional machines.
