3-4 port FXO card recommendations
*This message was transferred with a trial version of CommuniGate(tm) Pro*
In setting up Asterisk, I'm looking to dump my current phone system (Nortel
Venture). I presently have three POTS lines.
I would use a VOIP provider, but now are presently available in the Toronto, ON,
CANADA area that support user owned hardware/software. I need a 416/647 area
code number.

Help with file descriptor
Hi all!
I have a problem with CentOS 4.4 and Communigate Pro 5.0.9. As our
user number grows, we are seeing "too many files open" error messages in
Communigate logs.
I spoke with Communigate tech support and they asked me to increase
the number of file descriptors which i did. I put 128000 as a script i
made to check Communigate open files reported as high as 99000.

Call between G.711 and GSM
*This message was transferred with a trial version of CommuniGate(tm) Pro*
Will asterisk actually convert between two different codecs?????
ie, a SIP endpoint running GSM and another running G.711?
Wouldn't that add quite some latency? I was always under the impression
Asterisk did not recompress and was smart enough to negotiate the right
codec at each end and just pass through the RTP

OT: Cisco ATA 186
Hi all,
do you know any firmware release which fixes that issue for cisco ATA186?
ATA 186 3.x.x Cisco ATA 186 v3.* CANCEL requests can be sent
with a completely bogus URI, making it impossible to cancel a call. bug
no workarounds
This is from: http://www.communigate.com/SIP/SIPProblems.html. In other
words, you make a call, other side doesn't pickup, then you hang up,

Asterisk 11, hangup-handlers, Local channels and channel originate
Hello,
I'm giving hangup-handlers a try on a new Asterisk 11.2.1 setup.
My plan is to use this handler to update my CDRs with values such as
Asterish and Tech cause (see function HANGUP_CAUSE).
I want to have my custom hangup-handler be run only once and when "the
second channel" hangs up.
At the moment, I'm issuing a couple of "channel originate

samba's characters encoding differs when guest and when by security = user ????
hello everyone
first to say that I'd greatly appreciate any help (smbd v.3.0.25b-2.fc7)
I'm trying to run CommuniGate ver. 4.1.8 on winXP and --Base to
\\some\uncpath
when:
guest ok = yes
guest account = cgpro
security = share
it works fine, but when I change a second later to:
security = user; valid users = cgpro, writeable = yes
it fails giving these errors:

Sip Trunk config
incominglimit is already implemented for SIP. Just specify under the
endpoint how many incoming connections are allowed.
For example,
[cisco]
type=friend
username=cisco
secret=blah
nat=yes ; This phone may be natted
host=dynamic
canreinvite=no ; Cisco poops on reinvite sometimes
qualify=200 ; Qualify peer is no more than 200ms away

optimize function with integral form ?
Hi all,
Does anybody have the experience of using optim to estimate variables with integral forms?
here the code:
trun.mean<- function(x) # t is the threshold
{
mu=x[1];
sigma=x[2];
t=x[3];
f <- function(x) (1/(sigma*sqrt(2*pi)))*exp(-(x-mu)^2/(2*sigma^2));
pdf.fun <- function(x) x*f(x);
integrate(f,thre,upper=Inf)$value/integrate(pdf.fun,thre,upper=Inf)$value ;
}

Just to understand what you'd call "free":
Is the client that you use free as well? =)
Imho not, and it's quite annoying to see this trial-reminder...

Help sought: Asterisk H.323, Cisco IOS Gatekeeper(s) intra-zone call routing and TETRA
All,
I'm haveing a bit of trouble getting my head around H.323 and call routing with Gatekeepers, Zones and intra-zone calls - hopefully someone who is more informed in things H.323 will be able to point me in the right direction...?
I already have a mature network of Asterisk boxes dotted around the UK and overseas with hundreds of extensions and our own number-plan/dial-plan in the form

Samba 4.3. - Problem with roaming profiles
This problem has several elements but it did not evidence itself until
we moved from a MicroSoft AD-DC to a Samba AD-DC.
The environment is is a FreeBSD-10.3 Bhyve VM hosted on a 16 core host
also running FreeBSD-10.3. The version of Samba is 4.3.11 obtained
through FreeBSD ports. The AD clients are all running MSWin7pro
patched up-to-date. Roaming profiles are in use.

parameter estimation -- Censored mean to real mean
Hi List,
Is there anyway to estimate the parameters with integral forms?
Here is the function. The idea is to calculate the real mean from the censored mean given normal distribution.
I have the function as
trun.mean<- function(mu,sigma,t) # t is the threshold
{
f <- function(x) (1/(sigma*sqrt(2*pi)))*exp(-(x-mu)^2/(2*sigma^2));
pdf.fun <- function(x) x*f(x);

aggregate: with 2 by variables in the result the 2nd by-variable is wrong (PR#14213)
Full_Name: Franz Quehenberger
Version: 2.10.1
OS: Windows XP
Submission from: (NULL) (145.244.10.3)
aggregate is supposed to produce a data.frame that contains a line for each
combination of levels of the variables in the by list. The first columns of the
result contain these combinations of levels. With two by variables the second
by-variable takes always only one value. However, it works fine

What is exit code 5888?
It is an exit 0 (success) that is being multiplied by 23 for some reason
and whatever (shell?) is running rsync doesn't recognize that.

Real Networks offers a free streamer called Real Server. I'm not sure of the
exact link, but here's a starting point
