OT: Quad-band cellphones with wifi & stablesipsupport
Its not quad band and in my opinion doesn't perform well enough to be
used for anything but basic email and phone calls. This phone, even on
the newest version of firmware (Sprint) hangs when syncing with exchange
to the point where you miss calls even though you tried to answer them.
If you turn on wifi or Bluetooth, it simply compounds the problems. It
will also require (literally) a

OT: Do You Know What the Problem With CDMA is?
It's OT but I thought it was funny enough to point out seeing this is a
telephony list...... world wide data.....like the 'world series' of
baseball if you ask me :-)

Can anybody recommend a good T1/PRI provider ?
Are you looking for local or Long distance? What will these T1s primarily be
used for(inbound/outbound, domestic, local, long distance, international)
How important are per minute rates to you? how many minutes do you expect to
use per month?
We are in Tampa Florida and have 15 T1s from several different providers so
I may be able to refer you to one if it's a match to what you're

User access to /dev/ttyUSB0
I have been trying to get an EVDO modem to work with Centos 5. I can make it
dial out with wvdial only when I'm the root user. Otherwise I get this error:
Cannot open /dev/ttyUSB0: Device or resource busy
I added the user to the uucp group.

Problem with trafic shapping and openvpn
I''m using shorewall with openvpn and traffic shaping at all of our offices.
I have noticed for a while that occasionally ping times are excessive. Usually
this is during overnight off site backups but some times during the day.
I have assumed the is was an ISP issue but now I''m suspecting it''s problem
with openvpn and traffic shaping.
In the test case have 2 sites

Traffic prioritization and 'class of service' for SIP
We're got a T1 from Sprint that we use for internet. During VIOP calls,
if you download something, the VOIP calls break up.
I found some info at Sprint for adding 'class of service', and I also
have some information on configuring our Cisco routers.
I've read the relevent pages on the wiki, but it seems vauge what's
required and what's required by the NSP (Sprint).

hey,
Adam here from FLOSS Manuals (http://www.flossmanuals.net). We write
free manuals about free software and in August (10-15) we will hold Book

Large number of prefixes in a route to a trunk
We're beginning to test MultiTech's CallFinder CDMA Units, one for Sprint
PCS and one for Alltel. They sell both. Our intent is to use them as a
backup line for our main office (which has a PRI) and a backup/911 line for
our remote offices which are all connected via * over a VPN with no local
trunks at any of them.
In the interest of maximizing use of the lines, I'm putting

[LLVMdev] PyPy sprint announcement: PyCon 2006, Texas, Feb 27st - March 2nd
Hello LLVM-ers,
The next sprint of PyPy will be held in Dallas, Texas, at the PyCon
conference. Most of you know about the LLVM back-end of PyPy. So far,
we use mostly the static compilation features of LLVM, but as we are
progressing on the JIT side we are considering starting sometime soon
working on just-in-time machine code generation backends. Clearly, LLVM
might prove to be a good target

Sprint Vision Phones ReadyLink=SIP?
I was playing with a Sprint Vision phone recently and noticed when viewing
the low level ReadyLink configuration screens that there are references to
SIP registrars and the like. Does anyone happen to know if Sprint's
implementation of ReadyLink truly is SIP based, and if so, managed to get it
to interoperate with Asterisk. If so, it would prove to be an interesting
paging mechanism and

Practical limit on dial prefixes for a route
Colleagues,
We're in the process of standardizing on Sprint PCS and Cingular phones on a
national basis (~ 50 properties, 1000's of lines). I manage an Asterisk
install at one location.
I've been looking at the Multitech CellFinder CDMA for Sprint as a dial
backup solution. Basically, it's a CDMA to POTS gateway, tied to a PCS
account. We would see it as a trunk line and I

Way to dump PRI settings?
Hello,
I am having odd issues with a new PRI based installation. Outbound
calls work for all numbers except those that terminate at Sprint! The
telco is new to PRI (this is in the Caribbean) and say that Sprint is
rejecting the calls, and asked for our PRI settings so they can work
with their switch manufacturer. We are using the bare minimum default
settings, but I can imagine that a

Sprint Nextel sueing over VoIP patents
Sprint Nextel is sueing vonage, voiceglo and theglobe.com for infringing
on VoIP patents. Sprint Nextel claims to have about 100 patents on VoIP
technologies. Does anyone know which ones this article is talking
about, and if so does asterisk have any of those features?
The reason I am asking is that the article is vague, Vonage uses a
fairly standard codec set, I dont know about the others.

CallerID not passed to Sprint & Verizon Cellphones via XO PRI
Hi,
I have an odd problem where when a call is made to any landline phone the
callerid number shows up on the caller id device with no problems. However
when I call a cell phone from Sprint or Verizon it always shows up as
unavaliable. I've tried multiple cell phones from each carrier. Though
today I called a t-mobile phone and the callerid came through fine.
Is this an * level problem
