Policy based routing support for IPv6 in Linux
Hi all, I have a dual stacked (IPv4/IPv6) Linux host (S) with two interfaces that can both be used to reach a destination (D) and are both up. In order to make sure a packet is transmitted over the correct interface I use policy based routing to choose the correct routing table based on the IP source address. The network setup is shown below: |---| | D | |---| | | |---|

policy based routing
Hello, I''m running a home-made Debian 2.4.18 kernel with iproute2-ss010824. I have 2 cable-modems to 2 different providers. One with a transparant proxy and one with a regular. I would like to load-balance all traffic over the 2 modems and to do this with http traffic I have to run 2 squid processes: squid1 to act as a proxy for the provider with the transparant proxy and squid2 that

LARTC Howto Section 4.1 doesn''t work (source policy routing)
Hi, I''ve tried to reproduce the example from section 4.1 (simple source policy routing) but without success. The setup is the same as in the example, with only two differences: there is additionally a gre tunnel which doesn''t seem to disturb here, and one interface does not masquerade at all, as it''s thought to be used from the router only. Besides that, and the

routing policy question
I''m attempting to perform some class based routing using Linux in combination with quagga/zebra. My current experience is with FreeBSD/ipfw/quagga. I''ve read most of the LARTC documentation as well Martin Brown''s Guide to IP Layer Network Admin. Here''s the basics of my set up: |- R1 <-> ISP1 R0-| |- R2 <-> ISP2 | |- R3

Source policy routing in the HOWTO
Hello, [I hope i''m on the lartc mailing list - i''m posting using gmane] I used the "Linux Advanced Routing & Traffic Control HOWTO" for doing source routing using iproute2. The documentation would be perfect if the source routing page <url:http://lartc.org/howto/lartc.rpdb.html> mentionned you may have to turn off spoofing protection on ppp2:

Wrong behaviour in policy routing
Hi! I get this strange behaviour... I don''t know how some packets get into wrong rules. My rules are those: 0: from all lookup local 50: from all lookup main 201: from 192.168.17.0/28 lookup 201 202: from 192.168.16.0/28 lookup 202 222: from all lookup 222 32766: from all lookup main 32767: from all lookup default Table main has: 192.168.17.0/28 dev eth2

Newbie question - RPDB, policy routing etc...
Hello all, I am going through the LARTC howto to understand how the iproute2 works. But some concepts like Policy Routing, RPDB etc are not clear to me. I am pretty new to iproute, beeing using route command for long... From what I understand 1. rules (ip rule) tell how to select packets for routing and route (ip route) tell where to route the selected packets. 2. A collection of rules is

conditional routing based on tos/fwmark not working with ipsec
Hello all, I am working with kernel 2.2.20 with the necessary options configured into the kernel to support all of the wonderfully fancy routing features: - routing based on ToS - routing based on fwmark - multiple routing tables This same kernel is in use elsewhere, and is routing based on fwmark with success. This leads me to believe that my kernel is OK and that I have another

source policy routing and SNAT - wrong hardware adress
Hi, when using diffrent routing tables, outgoing packets after SNAT always have hw-adresses as if the packed was coming from my machine. So a forwarded packet to default gw x on eth0 gets hw-adresses as if the same packet with origin loopback was routed to default gw y on network wlan0 which is diffrent. I do "ip rule add iif lo table mine" and some "ip route add ... table

--set-mark policy routing problem
In its current configuration one of our Linux boxes has 2 DSL modems that connect to the same service provider. On the router packets coming in from the network destined for the internet are marked alternating using nth match those packets are supposed to be picked up by iproute2 and routed out the physical connections based on that mark, thereby doubling the outbound bandwidth. The problem is

NAT and policy routing?
I''m confused about what might be going on here, and hope someone will be able to suggest a way of the thicket for me. I am using a rule to route a private network to the outside world: # ip rule show from 192.168.1.0/24 lookup bc-routes On the router box I have this rule (public IP obfuscated): SNAT all -- 192.168.1.0/24 0.0.0.0/0 to:111.11.11.1111 I can ssh out of any of the

routing via uplink based on source lan?
I''ve got a rather complex beast of a network that I''ve beeing trying to get properly routed for some time now. I''ve come really close, in that inbound traffic gets where it''s supposed to, and outbound traffic goes where it''s supposed to, but outbound packets are all apparently going over the wrong link. The system is currently configured as a

Advanced Policy Routing not working properly
Hi list, I''m trying to setup a Linux box with a complicated source routing and could use a hand from you. The box has 4 NICs and lots of VLANs attached. It is a firewall and router in the following scenario: (obs: IP addresses have being changed for security purposes) - eth0 holds the default route (GW: 200.1.0.1, Firewall: 200.1.0.2); - The box is routing and sometimes source
