logrotate. Bug or am I blind?
Hello!
I having a problem with the permissions of some of my logfiles.
It seems that when the files are rotated, the user/group is root root and the permissions are rw for root only.
more info hereunder:
The strange thing is that sometimes it works for one file...

[NU-BQ+CentOS] Special Chars not showing up in browsers
Greetings,
I am in the process of moving several large sites to a Tyan+BQ+CentOS box
(built from the Nuonce ISO) and I see that special characters are not
showing up in the browser properly but do show up in the source "view
source" properly. -- very strange.
Example:
on the web page --> Heizungsbau M?ller
in the source --> Heizungsbau M?ller
When I view this on the existing

read permission on rotated logs
When logs (e.g. /var/log/maillog) are rotated (e.g. to
/var/log/maillog-YYYYMDD) is there a way via systemd or whatever to
assign read permission to a specific group?
Right now, for example -
ls -l maillog*
-rw------- 1 root root 3105240 Mar 13 22:04 maillog
-rw------- 1 root root 1079031 Feb 24 04:39 maillog-20190224

trigger for pre and post rsync
Hello:
Please be patient, its hard to me to explain this even in my native
language.
I think it may be useful to add an option like lograte's prerotate and
postrotate, that triggers server side scripts before and after rsync. It
would help the administrator work.
Escenary 1:

client -> rsync server -> 2nd stage rsync server

Relaying of spam
Hi, sorry if this isn't the right place to post, but I'm having some
trouble figuring out a spamming issue. If anyone here can help, that'd
be amazing.
I'm running Brian's CentOS/BlueQuartz CD, version 3.5 from Nuonce.net.
Everything seemed to be running fine for several days until this
morning, when I received a zillion "returned mail" notices from the

xferlog not rotating.
I am not sure how to correctly troubleshoot this. I just noticed that my
/var/log/xferlog file is huge. There are no files in /etc/logrotate.d/
for xferlog. This is what leads me to believe that it isnot rotating. Or
perhaps I do not have it set to rotate. I am not sure.
I am running CentOS release 5 (Final).
Can someone tell me what I, apparently, do not have configured correctly.

Can someone please tell me how I can add quota to users accounts. I'm
only new so please keep it simple for me. What I need to do is just

NetPBM
Greetings,
I am setting up a CentOS+BlueQuartz server, replacing my Cobalt machine.
On my Cobalt I had installed a set of pre-made binary's for netpbm.
Using "yum search", I found and installed "netpbm.i386" but I am at a loss
as to how to use the resulting libraries from my php scripts etc.?
Do I need to install the netpbm-progs.i386 and netpbm-devel.i386 also??

vsftpd log issues
I have an up-to-date CentOS 6 with reasonable amount of ftp activity (a
dozen of network cameras uploading images every second 24x7).
The first issue was that the whole /var filesystem was about to get full,
because of huge ftp daemon log.
vsftpd.conf says:
# You may override where the log file goes if you like. The default is shown
# below.
xferlog_file=/var/log/vsftpd.log

CentOS 6: Logrotate / selinux problem
Ever since a recent power failure I have been getting a Logrotate error. My
machine is on a UPS -- it shutdown cleanly, but I suspect that its BIOS/RTC
battery is dead, since the machine came up thinking it was 1982 :-(. I reset
the clock and everything is fine, *except* I had to delete Logrotate's state
files (which had bad dates). But now Logrotate is raising the error:

logrotate script error
Hey guys,
I'm trying to rotate a logstash log that can grow pretty large. 3.4GB last
I saw!
And that's because the logrotate script I came up with didn't work.
The error I get on a syntax check is this:
#logrotate -f logstash
size: '100M': No such file
size: '100M': No such file
size: '100M': No such file

I've closed that bug now.
Extensive work has been done to add this feature to Samba 4.7, due out
this week:

logrotate.d - reload vs restart
Looking at some of the stuff in /etc/logrotate.d, I see entries like this in
some of the configuration files:
postrotate
/sbin/service privoxy reload 2> /dev/null || true
>From the commandline, that doesn't work:
# /sbin/service privoxy reload 2> /dev/null || true
Usage: /etc/init.d/privoxy {start|stop|restart}
Changing reload to restart does work:
