Smallest server continued...
This thread got me thinking of other servers that would run asterisk. The
obvious question comes up if Xebian (the xbox version of Debian) would run
as a SIP only server? Asterisk on an XBox would be a small box! Cheap too.

RE: Asterisk-Users digest, Vol 1 #2719 - 10 msgs
How about a PCMCIA Zapata interface?? Asterisk and its strength kick
ass as a test unit. Can't do some of the things a T-byrd can do but the
Telco techs freak when you tell them its your PBX!!!

Problems with winbind cache
Hi guys!!
I'm facing problem with Samba 4 + winbind that I spent some days to solve that without success and I'll appreciate any help.
I self compile samba 4 and apparently everything is working fine. I installed samba on six distributed servers at remote branch offices and all users, groups, dns and other components are replicating with success.

Free g.729.1 implementation
1st. - I'm from Poland, we don't have (yet, and hopefully forever) software
patents.
Is there any free g.729.1 implementation for asterisk? I want to use it for my
private use (dialing into inet->PSTN gateway), and I don't want (now) to buy
codec, as I don't know if I will be using this service in future (now I just
want to test it). Any solutions? Maybe even

asterisk console mode
Hi folks,
I use safe asterisk to startup and run asterisk in the background. In
Safe_asterisk script, there is a parameter (right at the top ), CONSOLE
which I can set to no or something. If it is no asterisk startup as
asterisk -vvvg , if it is set to something the asterisk startup as
asterisk -vvvg -c.
Now I am running an agi script when calls get hung-up. That is in my
extensions.conf I call

now do.
net cache flush
restart winbind
wbinfo -u

getent passwd username

Try cleaning up your smb.conf also.

capacity testing
Hello all. I'm new to asterisk and have been using and testing it for about a week now. My initial hope has been to use it as a sip<->h323 gateway to tie SIP & H323 based ip phones together with my Cisco AS5300 and Lucent MaxTNT/MVAM networks.
I am currently running Asterisk 0.5.0 under Redhat 9 on a single PIII 800 with 256megs RAM. I have tried a couple CVS version from the past

agi exit problem
The way I worked around this is to log the "uniqueid" in a database when the
call is placed with the start time and then execute an agi script upon all
hangups:
exten => h,1,AGI(call_log.agi,${EXTEN})
That script queries the database for the "uniqueid" and if it exists in the
table it figures out the call length and updates the record
It's a little bit of perl

Perl-AGI process
Hi All,
i have created one prepaid PERL AGI script to integrate asterisk users in our current Oracle Billing System. I am using $AGI->exec('Dial', $dialstr); in script after getting the MAX time out for the priticular call.
But when the channels increase on my asterisk more than 50-60 asterisk get crashed and i am suspecting the cause is of AGI Script. because when i check ps on

multiple instances of asterisk spawning
Hello-
I have noticed that since i upgraded my kernel, asterisk spawns many
copies (usually approximately 18) when starting up. It then runs fine,
but there doesn't seem to be any reason for this behavior. I have tried
moving between different kernel versions, and all but the stock fedora
core 1 kernel exhibits the same behavior.
I have verified running this with both safe_asterisk (as I

Several asterisk processes starting with safe_asterisk
Hi,
I'm running asterisk 1.2.0 on a debian rel 2.6.13 and when I
start it with safe asterisk I got instantly more then 10 processes.
Until now I didn't detected any impact of this process proliferation in
the system, but it is strange and I'm not comfortable with this.
Is this a know problem? Any ideas what is the problem here, or where to
start searching?

Core dump?
Hello,
Just got a core dump, and thanks to somebody named Matt, I ran a gdb
