console sound
Hi, I have a RH9 system with an onboard VIA sound chip. According to the archives, VIA won't work for asterisk. So, I disabled the VIA and I purchased a Creative Labs "Soundblaster PCI 128-Voice" soundcard ($13). This card is on the "approved" RedHat list. However, the documentation inside the package says "VIBRA 128". Anyhow, kudzu doesn't see then

I believe it is not fiber, but I am not sure. I am going to take one of them home tonight and hook it to my POTS line there, which for sure is not fiber. Gregory P. Woodpeckers Revisited
Just when I thought I couldn't be wrong, I was wrong. We have woodpeckers that drill into the arial telephone cables, and water seeps through the holes and partially grounds the tip and/or ring wires causing hum. I thought the hum/buz on my lines was a telco problem. The Qwest HQ noise team assures me that my lines are within spec. Sure enough, when I listen on the test set the lines

Hum/bux on line
Rich Hi, After Qwest pronounced my circuits as within spec. (yes, disconnected from the house) I listened on the lines with my butt set. Clear of all noise and hum. I then got my box of Cat3 and laid a circuit around the outside of the house and into my lab. Still clear of all noise and hum. I then connected the circuit to the Adtran and made a call. Lots of hum and buzzz. As I said,

MB soundcards and PCI soundcards
Here's a problem that I have uncovered on two entriely separate machines using the latest icecast2 and ices2 software. Even when the onboard soundcard is disabled, the PCI soundcard (which has been both a Creative Live! and an Ensoniq soundcard) is unable to accept input or stdin audio. If I enable the onboard soundcard everything works well and I can stream audio using icecast and ices. But

Adtran TA750 Noise
All, I need help. I have an (actually 2) Adtran TA750's with 8 FXO ports. I get a terrible buzz on every FXO port. If I unplug the Adtran and put an analog phone on each incoming line, I have no buzz. I also have 2 Carrier Access Access Bank I's with 12 FXO ports. When I plug the same analog lines into either one of those, no noise or buzz whatsoever. I went so far as to move the TA750

can't get oss console working.
I've been trying to get a console channel working without success. The sound card, which is built into the motherboard, is a VIA Technologies, Inc. VT82C686 AC97 Audio Controller. Using the oss drivers (vi82cxxx_audio) in kernel 2.4.23 and chan_oss, I just get beeps and screeches. Using alsa drivers (snd-via82cxx) and chan_oss (using the alsa oss emulation), playing sound works, but

Red Hat patch kills streaming
Has anyone else seen this? I patched my Red Hat box yesterday with the Red Hat 2.4.18-4 kernel patch. It was fine until I rebooted and then the new kernel failed. It still came up with the old kernel. No biggee, we were in a blackout time anyway since we are not allowed to stream certain national broadcasts, so I re-installed just to try out something new. I patched the kernel with all the

One-way audio with H.323 --> SIP call
Good day, I have a puzzling issue that people in the IRC channel recommended I post to the list so here goes :) I am trying to call a SIP softphone from an H.323 hardphone. The hardphone is connected to a Definity Prologix R12 PBX with a MedPro card and a CLAN. The Avaya is setup to send any call to extension 1609 down an H.323 trunk group that is destined for the Asterisk server. When I call

MB soundcards and PCI soundcards
this is almost certainly a driver or device mapping issue. the answer depends on whether you use alsa or oss. if you're using oss: use alsa :) if you're using alsa: are both cards correctly installed? what does aplay -l say? what does lsmod | grep snd say? have you specified the correct device to use? depending on your installation, the onboard sound chip might be set to be the default

Adtran TA750 Noise - Email found in subject
Rich, Thanks a bunch, totally understand now and that actually makes total sense. (no need for schematics). This also explains why I used an TA750 to go into a Nortel MICS system, using FXO and no buzz. Totally balanced load from the analog ports on the Nortel across the 5 feet of CAT5 to the FXO on the adtran. Now I need to get rid of some Adtrans --- Anyone lookin to buy? :) Thanks

COnfiguring an * system for a non-profit organization
Hi, Maybe someone has seen this before... I've installed a new T100P, but it doesn't seem to work. I've attached the T100P to an Adtran 750 using a crossover cable. The Adtran shows a red alarm on the T1 interface. The Adtran has been set to factory defaults with FXS cards in 1-3 and an FXO card in 5. The T100P shows no signs of life--the leds are not lit. Should I be seeing

Clicking noise using Speex built for TI C64+ DSP of DaVinci Processor
Hi, I've been trying to get Speex to compile and run on the DSP of TI's new DaVinci System-On-Chip processor, which has both an ARM (ARM926) and a DSP (C64+, based on the C6400). I used the latest code (1.2beta) and followed the example in the speex- 1.2beta1/ti/speex_C64_test trunk to build the Speex library for the DSP. Basically I have a loopback application on the ARM that samples

Re: Clicking noise using Speex built for TI C64+ DSP ofDaVinci Processor
Sorry everyone, but I figured it out; it's working now. The problem was in my monoToStereo and stereoToMono functions (the Linux OSS driver on the ARM side only supports stereo so I had to convert it to mono before feeding it to Speex); also I had an alignment issue with my buffers I was using on the DSP side. Thanks Jim/Jean-Marc for your help! Regards, Andy ----- Original Message ----

Re: Clicking noise using Speex built for TI C64+ DSP of DaVinci Processor
Hi Jean-Marc, I have tested Speex in fixed-point mode on my PC without clicking noise. As I mentioned below, I tested Speex in fixed-point mode running natively on the ARM side of the DaVinci without click noise. I only get the clicking noise when running Speex on the DSP side. For the TI C64+ DSP on the DaVinci processor, the TI-specific switches doesn't do much other than defining the

Adtran TA 750 FXO Groundstart Mode
I am having a problem using the Adtran 750 FXO quad card with a Groundstart trunk line. I am able to receive calls on the trunk line, however dialing out is not working. The Adtran does not seem to be doing the signaling. Has anyone used the 750 FXO card in Groundstart mode? Any special configuration issues that I should be aware of? User picks up phone, hears another call, not dialtone
First of all - Many, many thanks to Mark for his troubleshooting and fix of bug 1320 (FXO_KS signalled Zap Channels on Adtran 750 Channel Bank Stuck in Rsrvd State). I have heard complaints that once every couple weeks, when a user picks up their analog phone (t1 span off of a TE410P into an Adtran 750 with 6 FXS cards), they don't get dialtone, but instead, hear another conversation.

Jay, I have had a lot of trouble with the FXO ports on Adtran TA750. Unless the incoming POTS lines have a balance impedance, they will buzz very bad. Gregory P.
