Would like to run PC Study Bible
Would like to run PC Study Bible ver. 2 from BibleSoft on Linux. Research has led me to WINE. I am new to Linux, have Mandriva 2009 installed. I just DL'ed WINE for Mandriva 2009, and got it going. I tried to install PC Study bible from CD, no dice. I then copied the entire contents of PC Study Bible folder from a windows computer to flash drive and copied it to Linux computer. Still

/etc/network/interfaces
If I''m using eth1 as my lan zone on my router box, it needs a static
ip... what do I set the gateway option to in /etc/network/interfaces
since this computer is actually the gateway for the rest of the lan?
Itself? My "net" NIC''s address? Something else?

Asterisk Bible?
Hi Folks,
Is there a generally accepted Asterisk bible for current versions? I
poked around the forums and there didn't seem to be a real consensus,
and there are lots of options out there. I need something that focuses
on Asterisk dialplans and config files, not a linux primer. I'm looking
for dead-tree rather than online documentation.
Thanks,
Tim

Can not install my bible program
I am very new to Linux but am enjoying it and liking it very much. I am up and running on debian sarge. Everything has been smooth except for one problem.
I am invested in the Logos Bible Program and am trying to get it to run with wine. It gives me a textbox that says it must run on windows 98 ver or higher. I do not know what else to do.
I am a minister and must use this program. What do

I personally use gnomesword2. I have not idea about any other WINE ports... but I find gnomesword2 to be effective.

PC Study Bible
PC Study Bible 4.2B and 4.2C have problems with the menus which are
severely vertically compressed.
Screenshot of problem:

I am using Fedora Core 3. I tried all the winehq WINE RPMs between
December and March. I think I used sidenet (not winetools) to
install IE. IE and other programs work OK.

How to disable or fix Inertial/Momentum Scrolling?
We have an app (Online Bible) that works under WINE except you have to disable inertial/momentum scrolling on the Mac; otherwise when you scroll in the app's window, scrolling never stops until it reaches the end of all text in the window. Surely others have run into this behavior? Is there a way to disable inertial scrolling within the WINE app window, without having to disable it

Black text background in TheWord Bible program and wine
I run The Word Bible study program in Ubuntu 10.10 32 bit with ASUS K50IJ. The problem is, that the text shows black (the background is black, and the text is unreadable because of that), but only the longer verses.
May be, that the video driver couses this problem? Intel GMA X4500M?
Thanks, Attila [/img]

Can someone spot the error in the following snippet of link text? It
doesn't work through php-markdown in wordpress and I just wanted to
know if there's something obvious I'm missing.
Thanks in advance!

updating to 6.4 broke olvwm/openwin
This morning a handful of workstations got upgraded from 6.3 to 6.4 and
things seemed to be functional, until we tried to log in to one of our
instrument accounts that for various reasons uses olvwm/openwin as the
desktop (and no, I don't have the option of changing that at this time).
The desktop appears to load correctly, and mouse-focus and clicking
appears to work, but the

Documentation for namespaces
Brian Ripley recently replied to a comment of mine by referring to
a function 'assignInNamespace', which I had not heard of.
Is there a good write up on name spaces in R? There are little tidbits
in the manuals on the R site, but I found nothing substative. I'd like
to understand these better.

Logging of attribute changes when no data is transferred?
How can I get rsync to write a log record (like --log-format does for data
transfer) when no content needs to be transferred but attributes (owner, group,
mode, ...) are changed?

--backup leaves window where file doesn't exist.
When using --backup, the sequence (as monitored by strace) is:
rename("/path/to/<file>", "<backup-dir>/<file><backup-suffix>")
rename("/path/to/.<file>.xxxxxx", "/path/to/<file>")
This, of course, leaves a momentary window wherein <file> can't be found. Might
it be possible to replace the first rename()

DateTimes get converted to Dates in XML-RPC????
Hi all -
I have written an XML-RPC app using action-web-service. Mostly works
well. Except I just noticed that my :datetime types are coming back as
:date types.
That is, when in the console I query the record via Foo.find_by_id(123) I
get back actual datetimes. If I then do it via XML-RPC, fetching that
same record I get back dates (ie. hour/minute/second are set to 00:00:00)
Any ideas?

Wine Config File
I just installed SuSe 10.1 and am having problems with "Wine." I only
have one program I run under it, but it is a vital program. The error
message when I try to run "Bible Illustrator" (BI) is that it cannot
find the CD. Under older versions of wine, I could go in and change a
setting or two in the "Config" file and be up and running. Though, in

the difference between "x1" and x1
Hello,
I am not sure what to write in the subject line, but I would like to take
a character string that is a variable in a data frame and apply a function
that takes a numeric argument to this character string.
Here is a simplified example that would solve my problem.
Imagine I have my data stored in a data frame.
