console sound
Hi, I have a RH9 system with an onboard VIA sound chip. According to the archives, VIA won't work for asterisk. So, I disabled the VIA and I purchased a Creative Labs "Soundblaster PCI 128-Voice" soundcard ($13). This card is on the "approved" RedHat list. However, the documentation inside the package says "VIBRA 128". Anyhow, kudzu doesn't see then

Red Hat patch kills streaming
Has anyone else seen this? I patched my Red Hat box yesterday with the Red Hat 2.4.18-4 kernel patch. It was fine until I rebooted and then the new kernel failed. It still came up with the old kernel. No biggee, we were in a blackout time anyway since we are not allowed to stream certain national broadcasts, so I re-installed just to try out something new. I patched the kernel with all the

One-way audio with H.323 --> SIP call
Good day, I have a puzzling issue that people in the IRC channel recommended I post to the list so here goes :) I am trying to call a SIP softphone from an H.323 hardphone. The hardphone is connected to a Definity Prologix R12 PBX with a MedPro card and a CLAN. The Avaya is setup to send any call to extension 1609 down an H.323 trunk group that is destined for the Asterisk server. When I call

DevKit TDM400P module won't load
Hi all, I have just purchased the DevKit from Digium and received a X100P and a TDM400P (it has one FXS module). The problem is that I can't get the kernel module (wcfxs) to load and run. I have searched the archives and can't find anything about this. Do the messages below ring any bells with anyone ? There is no interrupt clash (see pci list below). I am running on a AMD 1.2G

Clicking until DSP called
I've set up a new * system as a test and development system. When I start asterisk, I get a fast clicking on all FXS ports (about 4 or 5 clicks per second.) Otherwise the system works great! When I make a call to another extension or to the console the clicking stops and the sound quality is great from then on. However, when I restart * the clicking resumes. I'm using an Adtran

Bug in ext3=journal ?
Hi all! While I was having some fun, testing different filesystems at home and making some benchmarks, I hit a bug when running Postmark in an ext3 partition mounted with data=journal. I repeated this test twice and got the same results under Linux 2.5, also it was not found while mounting with data=writeback or data=ordered or under Linux 2.4. I don't know if it's a know problem or

Problem with overhead paging with Alsa and OSS
I recently upgraded a server to Asterisk 1.4.22 with OpenR2. Previously I was using 1.4.18. It seems that 1.4.22 has a big bug using chan_alsa.so for overhead paging. After rebooting the server it would work once or twice and then I just got an error on the CLI: [Jan 7 10:35:14] ERROR[26164]: chan_alsa.c:693 alsa_read: Read error: Resource temporarily unavailable I had to switch to chan_oss

xen 2.0/2.0.1 reboots silently on via C3-cpu
On my lex mainboard with a Via C3 cpu, xen 2.0(.1) reboots (nearly) immediately without any outputs. The same setup/version boots without problems on a via epia M board with a Via C3-2 cpu (Nehemia), having a rather different chipset. Starting with option noreboot, nobiostables doesn''t change anything visible. Is this a known problem? Or just a knowingly unsupported chipset? Have you

Gnophone no sound
Hello all, I'am trying to use 2 gnophones on my LAN. But I can't get any sound. Here is my configuration: 1. on PC1, I have: - Asterisk compiled from CVS (CVS-05/15/03) and it runs. - Gnophone binary version from Debian: 0.2.4+cvs.20020624-3 - a sound card working ( module es1371 for /dev/dsp) - I registered it as "alice" in extensions.conf 2. on PC2, I

Anybody a patch for oss/alsa to not constantly hog the sound card?
The subject says it all. After digging through latency and other issues with all kinds of linux softphones, I've found that only * works alright for me as a VoIP client. Problem now is that, unlike other apps, chan_oss resp. chan_alsa grab the card once and won't release it until shutdown, while other clients are friendly enough to grab the card only on calls. So, before getting lost in

soundblaster live noise
I had a similar problem... I updated our radio server to a new box and a SB Live and ran into all sorts of audio problems. I took the sound card (es1371) from the old box and swapped out the SB Live and the problems went away. I think the problem is with fbsd's sb live driver. <p>> -----Original Message----- > From: jim [mailto:bikepunx@impop.bellatlantic.net] > Sent: Thursday,

KMIDI problem
Hi gang! Running 5.1 with Gnome as the default desktop, but have installed KDE too so I can run kde apps. Kmidi is the default midi player, so if I click on a midi file in firefox it brings up KMIDI. KMIDI goes merrily along playing the file, but I get NO SOUND. My motherboard has built in audio but it's disabled and I"m using an old Audiopci 128 card which seems to work fine for
