WINXP Messenger SIP Client (Good News, Bad News)
I found this information on how to make XP have a dialpad in Windows Messenger
which was awesome news
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MessengerService\CorpPC2PHone
(change it from 0 to 1 and a magic new choice to make phone calls appears)
only to be crushed hours later when I realized It doesnt seem to do dtmf right.
If i make an ext lead to AgentLogin for instance and press my

Weird DTMF issue
Can anyone explain why this is happening?
I have a server attached to a phone line that will play a .wav file, then play all the dtmf digits (after it answers the call). If I place a call from a SIP device (like a Cisco 7960 phone) through Asterisk and on to the test server, via PSTN, the .wav file sounds fine, but the DTMF digits are distorted

Messenger and DTMF
Hi all,
I managed to get most functions of Asterisk operational with Messenger. Accessing menu's have I done with DTMF generated tones by Windows Media Player, because this seems to be the only program without sound-card conflicts with Messenger. The tones are mixed with microphone-input. Does any of you know a nice dialer with a graphical keypad that does not grab the sound-card exclusively.

How to use * and # as part of number in dial command
Hi all,
I am struggling with the following and I can't get it work:
In the Netherlands where I live it is possible to use special codes
(aka vertical service codes) to set special 'behaviour' of phonecalls.
So e.g. when I want to dial out with a normal phone and I dial
*31*<phonenumber to dial> then it will turn off my numberindication
(CID) at the called party. They seem to

how to make sip uri work
Lets say I have an * at my business, with 7960 SIP phones. All the sip
phones are registered using their extension number (like 305), but I would
also like to put my SIP URI on my business card and in a name format, not an
extension number (like lee.goodman), so that the SIP URI would read
lee.goodman@asterisk.company.com.
How would I set this up in extensions.conf?
I got

Announcing another R search engine
Hello all,
I wanted to announce a new R search engine I made that covers all the major
R mailing lists, CRAN, r-project.org, and more. Results are tabbed, so you
can refine the search. Current refinements include searching just the
mailing lists, searching just introductions, and searching the web for
source files ending in .R.
Please send comments and suggestions. If you want to add sites to

DTMF SIP
Hello list,
my case is as follows:
SIP1--asterisk--SIP2. SIP2 is IVR type device. SIP1 and SIP2 both use g729.
When SIP1 calls SIP2, it hears the IVR, and prompt the SIP1 to punch the
keypad on the phone.
As suggested by you, I need to configure the SIP1 with out band dtmf mode ,
what is about the sip.conf, should I specify the SIP1 with demfmode=rfc2238
? do I also need to make same kind

Sipgate > DTMF not detected
I raised an issue with Sipgate because my Asterisk 1.6 plain refuses to
recognize digits pressed on a keypad coming in from a Sipgate trunk.
There answer was to set this:
dtmfmode=rfc2833
in the general section of sip.conf
This has made no difference. I've tried a range of settings (auto,
rfc2833,info) but no matter what, it plain refuses to pick up key
presses.
Locally, if I call from an

mISDN trouble with a HFC Cologne card, Asterisk Asterisk 1.2.4 on Linux 2.6.16.11 - incoming DTMF detection
Hello everyone. I've got this really annoying HFC Cologne card (or
however I should call it - a single channel ISDN card based on the HFC
chipset).
It wrongfully detects lots and lots and lots of incoming DTMFs, to the
point the card is not usable.
Here's a sample out of CLI:

Cell phones and DTMF
When my Asterisk box is called from my company's standard type of phone,
it does not detect normal button presses on the keypad. You can use the
phone's 'touch tones' feature to send data to the box, but that is a bit
cumbersome. My Norstar voicemail system (that is being replaced) does
not have this limitation.
Is there anything I can do on the Asterisk side?
Thanks,
Bob

PRINT$ Problems
I have been trying to setup point and print on a debian testing box. I have
a HP5550 printer and am trying to install the drivers through the add
printer wizard, the drivers appeared to install fine. Afterwards I right
clicked on the printer and clicked connect, per the SAMBA howto, this also
appeared to work. When I tried to enter the properties screen of the local
printer or on the share I

Extract time only from POSIXlt object
How can I extract only the time component from an POSIXlt object?
For example if I try the following it still returns both the date and
time...
>as.POSIXlt(tr.date[1])
[1] "2010-10-18 21:46:53"
>as.POSIXlt(tr.date[1],"%H:%M:%S")
[1] "2010-10-18 21:46:53"
round and trunc don't help... is there an "as.Time" equivalent to as.Date
?
Thanks,

Voicemail/dtmf not working?
Hi,
I am setting up an asterisk server for testing purposes and cannot get
voicemail to work at all.
My host OS is Linux From Scratch 6.3 and the asterisk software versions
I built are zaptel-1.4.5.1 and asterisk-1.4.12.
I am using the Ekiga softphone on my Ubuntu desktop machine. My asterisk
server and client phone are on different computers but are on the same
LAN, i.e. no NAT.

GNOME, numeric keypad & commas
Hi,
Our local school has a 100 % CentOS network on servers and desktops.
Until recently, we were using a highly customized Xfce desktop
environment. Last week I decided to migrate all desktops from Xfce to
GNOME, which went quite well. Now I have to sand down some rough edges.
The secretary complained that she can't use the numeric keypad as
before. She's using LibreOffice Calc a lot,

My Dataset consist of Abundance-Values (Braun-Blanquet ordinal scale; ranked) for each plant species and relev?.
I found a lot of r-packages dealing with cluster analysis, but none of them is able to calculate a distance measure for ranked data.

Need info on Gastman/Astman
Has anyone used Gastman/Astman successfully?
I have it up and running (Gastman win32), but have a problem with the
creation of end stations on the map. I'm not sure of the format of the
extension to use when creating a end station icon.
Services like Conference bridge and Musichonhold seem to work ok (I use
555@mainmenu and 666@mainmenu) for the Icon extensions.
IAX softphone seems to work

kvm & keypad on Centos 7.5
Everyone,
I have a lab computer I am using to test kvm. It was difficult to
install with NetworkManager running. After I turned nm off I got the
bridge to work and to stay in place. NetworkManager kept chaning
things.
I have several things I would like to learn and to tweak with KVM and
virtal machines.
The first small tweak is how to turn on the keypad on a keyboard. I
have tried two
