RSpec, RESTful nested routes and :path_prefix
Dear list, In the app we are making we have a rout something like this: map.resources :projects do |projects| projects.resources :pages, :controller =>"Wiki::Pages", :path_prefix => "/projects/:project_id/ wiki", :name_prefix => "project_wiki_" end But I can''t get RSpec(I''m very new to it) to accept this. It keeps throwing errors:

Inheriting from AdminController intstead from ApplicationController
Hi I would like to do the following: I have created an admin namespace and the required folders app/admin views/admin etc. And then I wanted all controllers under app/admin to inherit from a controller named AdminController which resists under app/admin/admin.rb instead of inhereting from ApplicationController, so I could better separate between admin and public section. The AdminController

Route generation and clash prevention
Let''s say you''re building a movie rental website. You have customers, movies, and rentals to manage. REST style urls might look like this: /customers/4 /movies/15 /rentals You''d probably also want administrators to be able to view all of the rentals done by a particular customer, and other similar details: /customers/4/rentals /movies/15/rentals /rentals/529/customers

1.05 to 1.08
Hi We are looking at moving a project over from 1.05 to 1.08 but have a problem with some of our helper specs They work fine in 1.05 but error in 1.08 and it is the calls to route helper methods that seems to be the problem. I did some playing around .. because the code being tested is reasonably large etc ... but this sample (using the peepcode app) seems to boil down the problem

Shared Nested Resources
The skinny is that I''m attempting to add "Discussions" as resources under different resources ("Groups", "Projects", for example) and I''ve simply hit a roadblock (or two). Discussions are an association between the "discussable" (Group, Project, etc.) and a "Topic" so: class Discussion < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :topic

Unable to figure out why a photo attribute of the paperclip plugin is not being passed in as a param
Hello all, I am trying to implement a feature in my app where a user posts a message along with an image. This is something similar to what is there in `www.diasp.org` . I dealing with a pretty much outdated configuration of Rails 2.0.2 and Ruby 1.8.7 , both running on Ubuntu 10.04 OS for project specific purposes. Initially, I found a problem in finding an appropriate plugin for paperclip

Urls generated by nested map.resources
Hi, Apologies if this has been answered before. I have just started to try out the new RESTful routes. For resources that aren''t related to anything else, everything makes sense - for resources with relationships, I am less certain of what the "right" thing to do - especially in relation to the urls produced, and how to modify those urls. For example, if I have teams and

rSpec / Nested Routes / Mocks
I''m having a terrible time trying to test a nested route with rSpec. I can''t seem to tell rSpec to expect the call @item.user. Does a mock model have to satisfy contraints
I am a little confused to the what happens with the following: before do @site = mock_model(Site, :to_param => "1") Site.stub!(:new).and_return(@site) end def post_with_successful_save @site.should_receive(:save).and_return(true) post :create, :site => {} end I understand that the "@site.should_receive(:save)..." places a check to whether the

Don't make cookie-stored sessions a default
Hi! Before Rails 2.0 is coming, I suggest not to make CookieStore the default session storage. It stores clear-text values on the client-side and the integrity check hash can be brute-force attacked. I understand that this has been set due to speed advantages, but I believe it''s better to make better security a default. I''ve written a blog post about this
