Visual ring notification
I have put a pbx into a resort with Polyycom phones, everythign works
great, except the kitchen staff cannot hear the phone ring. I know many
legacy systems employ a big red flashing light, any ideas on doing
something similar?

polycom custom ring tones (slightly OT)
Hi all,
Has anyone made up custom ring tones for the Polycom SIP phones? We use
different rings for different lines, but the ones it comes with are all very
similar. In the interesting of sharing, here's one I made up for paging:
<PAGE_BEEP se.pat.ringer.13.name="Page Beep"
se.pat.ringer.13.inst.1.type="chord" se.pat.ringer.13.inst.1.value="12"

High CPU usage
The below seems to give me several minutes of 15-60% cpu usage. As far as
I can tell there doesn''t seem to be anything really wrong with my
configuration.
Anyone have any idea why this might be the case? I also get about 6%
memory usage.
This is a 3.0 ghz Xeon with 2 gigs of memory.

HVM guest high CPU usage
I have couple of HVM guests on xen 3.2. When guests boot, qemu-dm uses alot
of cpu for approx 20 minutes post boot then load drops to average 0.50. I
did some debugging and see this is going on, I suspect display output is
using the CPU. Disabling VNC and SDL didn''t help with the CPU usage. any
ideas how to reduce the cpu or stop it all together?
My setup is as following:

find thread that is causing high cpu usage
Hello,
Using one of Brendan''s dtrace script prusage and prstat, I was able to find the process that is consuming high cpu. I also have a test case that can trigger this high cpu usage.
Questions are
a) how do I proceed from here?
b) how do I figure out which thread is using this high cpu?
c) how do I figure out which piece of code is causing this problem?
Thanks

high CPU usage with TAR files
I am trying to use rsync to backup our Linux server and when the rsync is running it uses 1-2% CPU for most operations until it reaches a tar file (or another file archive), then the CPU usage increases to 90%. I am assuming that rsync is looking at the individual files in the tar archive and seeing if any have changed instead of looking at the mod time and file size. I'm sure this is a

BUG (?) High CPU usage in samba-2.2-cvs
The setup:
Downloaded from samba-2.2 branch of
cvs as of 9 okt. (also tried 2.okt)
installed on a redhat 7.1 2.4.7 i386 system
The problem:
the smbd process serving a NT 4.0sp6
workstation uses 80+ % cpu
smbstatus reveals that the pid is attached as
"smbguest" to the IPC$ share.
The workstation has opened up another IPC
connection at this point.
The problem do not show up in

asterisk 1.6 - 511 Command not permitted causing high CPU usage
http://pastebin.com/vxGM2n5j
We are getting those errors 100x per second in console when AGI set debug is
on....
It is causing extremely high CPU usage, we've tried asterisk version
1.6.1.22 and 1.6.2.18
It seems the problem is worse in 1.6.2.18
Can someone advise how to fix this? Thank you.

Asterisk consuming high cpu usage
Hi,
I have been using asterisk 10.0.1 for 8 months and now I have updated it to
12.6.0. I have not made much changes in conf files.
I am seeing continues warnings saying
"Can't send 10 type frames with SIP/Gtalk write" on console. Which I had
never seen in the previous version.
I have seen compared chan_sip.c from both versions and It seems 12.6.0 is
also made to support all the

Temple of elemental evil - high CPU usage by X/ToEE
I installed ToEE under wine 0.9.42 and used ToEE noCD "patch" to make
it working but the problem is it's very slow. top says X is using 95%
of CPU and ToEE.exe 4,7% - 2 biggest processes.
Also in terminal wine throws a lot of:

did the test result changed in any way? Maybe the DRI2 run was vsynced and the
DRI3 not?
Nouveau has a pretty high cpu usage in general, because it usually busy waits on
fences (I think? not sure where it was exactly that nouveau is busy waiting)

Host CPU usage high on guest network load (macvtap).
Hello,
Is it reasonable for one CPU on the host to be loaded 20-30% on 100 mbps
download in a guest?
There is barely any (1-2%) load in the guest. The host is running ubuntu
18.04 on an Intel i7-7700K, virtualization etc is enabled. Everything
except host load on guest network activity is fine.
This is how i setup the network with virt-install:

High CPU usage when running a CentOS guest in VirtualBox
Hi,
I am running CentOS 5.3 32bit as a VirtualBox 3.0.0 guest running on Windows XP.
The Windows host CPU usage is constantly at 50% although the CentOS
guest is completely idle (i.e. 0.00 load average).
I know this is a common problem related to the 1000Hz frequency that
the CentOS kernel runs at. With previous versions of CentOS, I used
the kernel-vm package [1] and it solved my problem.

High CPU usage by lftp
Greetings,
I have written a script using lftp to mirror one directory from a ftp site.
I do not have access to the server except for being a humble user.
This is running on a fully updated Centos 5.3 box.
I am using whatever is provided by the repositories.
I noticed that lftp consumes almost all of cpu times
I found this while searching for a solution.
