viewing fax tiffs?
Hello, I have spandsp setup to accept incoming faxes and receiving tif files via Email. Using tiff2pdf, or tiff2ps -a2 or even tiffsplit, the last page of the fax is cut off and the quality of the text looks "squished". I "figure" it's a tiff parsing thing, as opposed to a problem with my spandsp installation (heh). Has anyone experienced the same thing, or can

interlaced / fractal encoding
Can anyone tell me if it is possible to encode music in an "interlaced" format.. perhaps I should explain what I mean by this. Say I'm getting 1k/sec off some guy's modem on opennap. It would be sweet if I could listen to the song as it is downloading but obviously the quality is gunna suck. So suppose the song was encoded in this interlaced fashion, I would be able to

I need to count the number of probes cover every given

(no subject)
Hi, Not sure if this is the right place for general questions on BDD style, but here goes... I have a class which behaves almost like a big function - you always instantiate it with a bunch of args, and call one of a couple of methods to get the results back. BDD style seems to like a separate describe block for each instantiation of the class under test. In this case that would mean a

specing class methods
Here is an example from autotest: class Autotest def self.run new.run end def new ... end def run ... end ... end How would I spec out Autotest.run? Two complications come to my mind: 1. How do I spec out class methods? (please point me to docs, if any. I can only find class level specing on "partial mocks" (of rails class objects) 2. How can I tell

ActsAsList specs
Hi, How are people specifying models which act_as_list? I''m thinking that it would be possible to check that acts_as_list instance methods have been added to a class using something like this: describe Page, "acts_as_list" do it "should act as a list" do Page.ancestors.should be_include(ActiveRecord::Acts::List::InstanceMethods) end it "should use

strptime and non ISO date format
Dear all I have a character vector of dates something like: timevec<-c("15.5.2003 00:00", "15.5.2003 00:01", "15.5.2003 00:02", "15.5.2003 00:03","15.5.2003 00:04") and I would like to transform it to some more convenient date class. Is there a way how to do it directly without previous reformating to ISO like structure and adding a

How to spec a (Trollop-based) binary’s internal state?
I?m trying to spec a ?binary?, and as previously discussed on this list, I?m trying to do it ?from outside? ? i.e., by calling it with Kernel#` and observing the (side-)effects. Unfortunately, this doesn?t really let me spec expectations about its internals. Let?s assume I have a -d flag and I parse it with Trollop to set Conf.debug: opts = Trollop::options do opt :debug, ''Print debug

specing helpers fails on restful routes
Hi, I am trying to spec helper methods in a Rails project, but it seems the specs fail with the error: You might have expected an instance of Array. The error occurred while evaluating nil.<< if the restful routes helper are used either in spec files, or the helper file. What can I be doing wrong? Or how can I fix this. Thanks! -- Surendra Singhi http://ssinghi.kreeti.com,

Specing Rails Views
Hello - I''m currently trying to write some specs for my rails views. My views depend upon the restful authentication plugin method logged_in? Like so, <% if logged_in? %> <ul id="product-admin-nav"> <dd><%= link_to "create a new product", new_product_url %></dd> </ul> <% end %> However, when I have the following

[HELP]No :secret given to the #protect_from_forgery call
I am starting to BDD. When specing the controller I want to test for object creation: it "deberia crear una nueva persona en post create" do Usuario.should_receive(:create).with({:nombre => "camilo", :clave => "secreta", :tipo => "administrador"}).and_return(@usuario) post ''create'', {:usuario => {:nombre =>

Vorbis, ambisonics and 'Vorbis Tools'
All, Progress has been made on the proposed draft spec for integrating ambisonics into vorbis. We are not yet finished (should be soon), but you can see the progress here: http://docs.google.com/Doc?id=df4dtw69_3626qqq6st The issue we have hit now concerns how/who would implement the encoding and decoding in Vorbis Tools. Because ambisonics uses spherical harmonic components, an ambisonic file

long jumping out of code in specs
I wrote this abomination just now, and wonder if anyone else has had experience with the pattern behind it. In short, I''m specing an after_create hook on an ActiveRecord model, that calls a bunch of private methods. Instead of stubbing all those private methods (which is verboten anyway, as well as impossible because creating the object which owns those methods is what I''m

spec''ing helpers that use controller
Hi all, I''m in the process of creating rspecs for my helpers. One of the helpers in app/helpers/application_helper.rb looks like this: def page_name @page_name || "Define @page_name in #{controller.controller_name}::#{controller.action_name}" end The rspec is simply: it "should something" do page_name end

Errors on an SSD drive
what file system are you using?? ssd drives have different characteristics that need to be accomadated (including a relatively slow write process which is obvious as soon as the buffer is full), and never, never put a swap partition on it, the high activity will wear it out rather quickly.? might also check cables, often a problem particularly if they are older sata cables being run at a possibly
