Announcements via IAX phones
Hello--
What I'd like to do:
Use IAX softphones running on computers, in Auto-answer mode, with sound
going to speakers, as a sort of public announcement system.
What isn't working:
Well, my first experiment was to set up the MeetMe system described on
the Wiki...
This works fine for voice announcements. You pick up a phone, dial the
right extension, and an agi is fired up to put files

Bug, Feature, or Limitation?
Howdy--
I'm playing with different IAX softphones. I've got DIAX and IAXPHONE on
a windows (XP) machine on my network, and I'm running asterisk on a
newly loaded Fedora Core 3 machine.
I set up a separate IAX account for each phone. I was EXPECTING them
to each register seperately with asterisk....
But I am swiftly finding out, that ONLY one registers. The first one

Interesting new hack attack
In the past little while, we've seen
a wave of attacks on asterisk, via the
provisioning.
It goes something like this:
A. scan for IP phones on the internet,
either via spotting something on port 5060,
or via the port 80 web interface for the phone.
Or, use web sites that scan the internet, and
classify the machines, to make your work shorter.
B. Once you get into the web GUI,

Soft phone sound quality help
Anyone got any tips on improving sound quality on soft phones running
under Window XP SP2?
I have tried Xlite, SJPhone and Firefly.
They all seem to have significant sound quality problems. We have a
reasonable sized network of several hundred devices connected together
using Layer 2 switches, i.e. pretty dumb switches with no QoS.
I also have a Grandstream connected to the same switching gear.

Zultys Zip 2 Registration / Disabling SIP Authorization
I'm trying to get a Zultys Zip 2 phone working with Asterisk. The phone
seems to be failing registration (see sip debug output below). However, I
can place calls TO the Zip2 from other SIP phones (Grandstream BT-101, Xten
X-Lite, and eStara Softphone) and from Nortel PBX extensions coming in to
Asterisk over a PRI T1. The problem is that I cannot dial any extensions
from the Zip 2. Any

E65 fails registration, soft phone works
Hey folks,
I am trying to get an E65 to connect to asterisk, and I would really
appreciate a second set of eyes. The SIP dialog completes fine, but
the phone subsequently says "Registration failed".
I am in a network that has what seems to be a SIP-capable NAT
gateway, but the asterisk is configured nat=yes anyway. Using
a softphone (twinkle), I can connect just fine, SIP and RTP work.

CAPI/Dialing out
Hi,
after having read so much about Asterisk, I went on and tried out to
create a little sample-setup.
I'm using a Fritz Card USB with the AVM Capi Driver and two X-Lite
Softphones.
Dialing between the softphones makes no problem.
Calling the MSN fron an external phone also works. I'm getting to the
asterisk demo-voicebox which works flawlessly.
Now may next step has been to enable

registration at Voipbuster times out
Hi,
I am new here on this list, and have a problem of which I hope that somebody here can help me with it.
I have a Voipbuster account, with which I would like to make phone calls via my Asterisk PBX. If I let X-Lite register directly at voipbuster.com, everything is OK, but if I let Asterisk register there, it says "registration for XXXXXX@sip.voipbuster.com timed out, trying again",

How to restrict registrations by useragent?
Hi,
I have an extension which I want to use only for x-lite, and don't want
anybody to register IP phones on it. I can see that 'sip show peer 3547'
shows softphone's id. Is there a way to restrict registrations on this
extension by useragent id?
I googled but so far couldn't find any way to do it.

A working SIP Phone for Centos44?
I tried numerous but most of them just don't work. They fail on the
quality of the microphone. I tried two that support alsa. Kphone does,
but dtmf (the numbers) are not recognized by Asterisk :-(
I tried X-lite, but that has really terrible voice quality (mic).
I tried Sflphone (has alsa support) and that worked on FC4 (not on FC3)
and it does not work on Centos44 either:

asterisk knows best? softphones
Hi all,
I'm trying to set up a vpn so we can access our asterisk server from the
outside. We're using OpenVPN and the vpn portion seems to work
beautifully. The problem come in when trying to use a sip softphone
over the vpn. The softphones are able to register and the sip session
works fine for dialing in and out until the call is established. Then
-- no sound.

Registring soft phones in Asterisk
Can someone tell me where I can get information on how to configure the
sip.conf file to register a soft phone? I tried the following entry and
the phone will not register:
[xten1]
type=friend
username=xxx
secret=ppp
host=dynamic
I am using the X-Ten Lite soft phone, but I understood that I didn't
have the correct build. The next thing I did was download the SJLabs

Asterisk SIP cannot restrict call from softphone before registration
Hi all,
I have problem with my Asterisk.
I'm using the softphone Xten-Lite. I've removed the SIP client information in sip.conf. The softphone can't register to Asterisk, but it can make outgoing calls.
I've tried to add back the SIP client information into the sip.conf, but make a wrong password in the softphone. The registration and outgoing calls are failed as expected.
