can't get Ethernet SNMP information
Hi all, I hope someone can help me with this one. I'm trying to graph all traffic on the localhost's network card with Cacti. >From what I understand I should use SNMP to query the traffic, but I can't seem to get SNMP info for the network interface. I have installed all the necessary snmp tools, "yum install snmpd net-snmp net-snmp-utils net-snmp-devel net-snmpt-libs "

x86_64 snmp Centos 3.x
Does anyone know if the 3.8 update will fix the long-standing problem with snmp interface counters on 64 bit machines? I think it was mentioned in the RH notes, but they said that a year ago too... (The problem is that the 32 bit counters don't wrap correctly so mrtg/cacti graphs go crazy after 2 gigs of data have gone by). -- Les Mikesell lesmikesell at gmail.com

[OT] snmp not reporting traffic values for a network interface
Hi all! I know this is quite offtopic, but I found nothing in google nor in the net-snmp mailing list, and I know there''s a lot of people here graphing with snmp+rrdtool. I installed net-snmp 5.1.2-6.1 in Debian to produce graphs for some ethernet interfaces. It seems it''s not reporting correct values for them. Here''s my snmpd.conf (very simple) and the output from the

snmp interface values on x86_64?
I'm trying to graph the interface traffic from centos 3.5 x86_64 boxes using snmp and cacti (running on an x86 box). Everything starts out OK after a reboot, but it looks like after the total traffic out passes 2^32 bytes the values returned in snmp 5-minute rates go crazy. Is this a known bug, and if not, where should it be reported? -- Les Mikesell lesmikesell at gmail.com

snmp hang reading sensors?
I have one machine (out of many with similar hardware) where snmp requests frequently time out and killing the snmpd process may take several minutes. The logs are full of entries like: ipmi_si ipmi_si.0: Error reading sensor 0. so I assume it is hanging trying to read some hardware sensor. Is there some way to make it skip that check so it won't hang? -- Les Mikesell lesmikesell

[libvirt] Set MAC address for host virtual interface?
Daniel: This discussion used to be on the libvirt list, but seems more appropriate for the users list so I am replying here. > At some time in the past we did set the MAC address on the > host interface > too, but it caused networking problems in some configurations I see. Thanks for the background info. > I guess you have Cacti configured to pull stats directly from the TAP

Cacti/snmp question
Hi, Trying to follow the recipe at http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Cacti_on_CentOS_4.x Which has a bit of an update for 5.x, but no joy. Anyone know what this from Cacti should suggest? Data Query Debug Information + Running data query [9]. + Found type = '6 '[script query]. + Found data query XML file at '/var/www/cacti/resource/script_server/host_cpu.xml' + XML file parsed

SNMP and OID/MIB/MRTG
Hi all. I am having an issue and quite frankly would rather not spend the entire next two days learning the entire snmp program. I am hoping someone out there has used MRTG and SNMP to make it work. I have both installed. Single server, polling itself. Question 1- does snmpd have to run as a daemon, or only run once so I can get OID and MIBs from it? Question 2- does anyone know the command

SNMP issues since 5.6 upgrade
Hi there... I scanned the archives and did some Google'ing ... can find some references to these errors but didn't find a solution. This started when upgrading some servers from 5.5 to 5.6 release. It's net-snmp creating a lot of errors in the /var/log/messages suddenly. I do believe this is only happening on 64 bit installations but not 100% sure yet... [root at mail1

CentOS 6.6 - net-snmp process - Too many open files
Hi gents, I have a CentOS 6.6 install with net-snmp running. I'm using SNMPv3 Auth and Encryption with Observium polling devices every five minutes. On one of my Centos server, the net-snmp process will die after 24-36 hours of running. It seems to be hitting my system maximum file open limit which is set to 1024. > [root at mail net-snmp-5.7]# ulimit -n > 1024 That number will

Add general UPS SNMP agent as a nut client
Hi One idea I've had for some time, but unfortunately not had time to implement, is to add a general SNMP agent, which will work with all UPSes supported by nut. The idea is to have the SNMP agent use the "nut API" to fetch values from the UPS. So the SNMP agent will be similar to the "upsc" utility. Whenever the SNMP agent is queried for information, it will use the

Issues with SNMP
Hello, I'm wondering if anyone else is seeing the same issues I'm seeing here. I have recently upgraded one of my systems from 4.4 to 4.5 and ever since then I cannot get snmp to work. I am monitoring the interface traffic. Please keep in mind the firewall/router I do the same thing without any issues for 4 interfaces and it is still at 4.4 and doesn't have any issues. If I

snmp, cacti and shaping
Hi I''m trying to move the tracking of the shaping from MRTG to Cacti. My predecessor, who built all this stuff and was far more advanced than I, had a shell script that collected data by running tc -s qdisc show dev on both eth 0 and 1 and then pushing it out via snmp to another server running MRTG. I''m building a new server with cacti and having trouble with the custom
