Newbie Issue
Hi All,
I recently purchased the Asterisk Developer's Kit (TDM) to try out
Asterisk. After following the directions in the Digium's FAQ topic entitled
"Q. How do I configure my TDM40B and X100P?", I'm receiving the following
error:

Gastman crashes on Win32
Hi,
The Win32 binary of Gastman crashes on Windows 2000 SP4. Same case on all my machines, no error, no log.
Although, the CVS version works great on Linux.
Is it anybody who knows how to compile it with mingw32 ? Or better, could anyone, who already has mingw32 installed, make a binary snapshot ?
Thanks in advance,
Jean-Christophe

I have developed a full featured Windows IAX phone based on LIBIAX library .
It is now in a prerelease version (0.9.0) and you can download it for free

Some of the features are:
- registering with Asterisk PBX;
- can use any audio device as ring device (including PC speaker),
independent of the play device;

Experiences with Fedora 1
Hi all-
Over the past week or two, I've been trying out asterisk under Fedora 1
Linux (RedHat). In my setup (single and dual Xeon motherboards), I have so
far had a very good experience in terms of performance. In doing E1 load
testing, I've found that Fedora handles heavy load much better than RedHat9,
probably because of its better use of the multi-threading capabilities of
the Xeon.

ProPolice/SSP in 7.0
Hi there,
I'm still running 6.2 on various servers without any tweaks (GENERIC
kernel, binary updates via freebsd-update etc.) but lots of ports
(apache, postgresql, diablo-jdk etc.) and would like to use stack
smashing protection in order to harden my boxes and avoid many potential
exploits.
I've known about ProPolice/SSP for a while now (from the Gentoo world)
and am aware that

newbie question: Meetme
Yes, I am a newbie too. I am having a problem with meetme. From what I
have seen it will work without a Digium card but with audio problems. My
goal is just to see how it works not the quality of the audio.
When I dial into the conference room the following message is played:
"That is not a valid conference number."
On the console I get: "unable to open pseudo channel".

rsync as a backup solution
I would like to get some opinions on a backup method using rsync. I already
have a script written to mirror the data over to a backup script from a cron
that is run every night. I've also been tempted to use the "--delete"
option to keep everything up to date on the backup server. However, this is
probably a bad idea in the event my data is deleted from the "/home"

What is the best way to have "R" output tables in an MS Word format?
Dear "R" list,
Our statisticians usually give us results back in a PDF format. I would like
to be able to copy and past tables from "R" output directly into a Microsoft
Word table since this will save us tons of time, be more accurate to
minimize human copying errors and help us update data in our papers more
easily.
Do people have suggestions for the best way to do this?

match rows of data frame
Hi R-experts,
I have a data frame (A) , and a subset (B) of this data frame. I am trying
to create a new data frame which gives me all the rows of B, plus the 5th
next row(occuring in A). I have used the below code, but it gives me all 5
rows after the matching row. I only want the 5th.
FiveDaysLater <- A[c(sapply(match(rownames(B),rownames(A)), seq,
length=6))),]
Any guidance much

POLL: Does anyone actually use multiple passdb backends on the same server?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Folks,
We are discussing removing the capability to chaining passdb
backends. It's a decent idea but overly complicates things
IMO and unless it has wide spread use, we'll probably axe it
soon (voting is starting up on the samba-tecnnical ml now).
To give you an example of what I mean, is anyone using
something like:

Charset
I have upgraded on my debian server from samba 2.2.3 (stable ) to samba
3.0rc4 (unstable).
The only problem that I have on my PDC is that italian character as ? (a') ?
(u') etc. are non treated as they should and this can cause profiles non to
load correctly.
What should I do?

Calculate x-values from a spline
Hello,
I calculate splines from messured points(x,y) of an unknown function f(x).
e.g.
x <- c(0.004115, 0.012345, 0.037037, 0.111110, 0.333330, 1.000000)
y <- c(37, 50, 45, 60, 50, 66)
w <- c(0.8540541, 0.8320000, 0.8822222, 0.7983333, 0.8220000, 0.8151515) as
weights
f <- smooth.spline(x,y,w)
Now I have y-values and want to calculate the x-value(s) from this spline.
