Newer GnuPG (S)RPMS?
Hi,
Has anyone newer GnuPG (S)RPMs than the one coming with CentOS
(gnupg-1.2.1-10). That one obviously has problems (for example: it
doesn't recognize new signatures on keys when doing 'gpg --import keysfile').
I tried to build new packages from various SRPMs from the Fedora distros.
The builds went oke, however, after installing them (no complaining debs)

Nautilus / Desktop Icons
Hi,
I've a nautilus problem with CentOS 4. It doesn't show the desktop
items any more (also after dropping all gnome files/dirs from a users
homedir) en the right mouse button menu also doesn't work.
Googling around I've found various items about the problem but until now
not a clear solution. Some people mention some 'browser mode in nautilus
preferences'. But I

xmms-mp3
Hi,
I have a (stupid?) problem getting xmms-mp3 added to a CentOS 3.1 desktop:
'xmms' is the distro one, and 'xmms-mp3' comes from Dag Wieers (I used to
use freshrpms on redhat 9, but for some reason freshrpms doesn't do rhel3).
Any ideas?

Using snmp for APC smarts
Hi,
I'm new to nut. I have some 100 APC Smart-UPS 2200 & 3000's and
I'm trying to do some calibration test on them. I've installed nut,
with
driver = snmp-ups
mibs = apcc
in ups.conf. I can read the variables using upsc. However it seems,
I can't actually execute commands on the UPSses this way.
( upscmd some-ups calibrate.start )
Do I miss something, or are those

auctex-11.82 el4 RPMs
Hi,
Has someone managed to build auctex-11.82 RPMs for el4/i386?
A rpmbuild -ta on the tarball from gnu.org gives me:
RPM build errors:
File not found: /var/tmp/auctex-root/usr/share/emacs/site-lisp/preview

*very* raw script for a new email server
All,
I'm putting up a new email server, but I can't afford downtime when I
switch servers. So, I've been writing a script that will take a CentOS
install and turn it into a secure email server with Spam Assassin,
Amavis-new, ClamAV and external relay using SASL authentication.
The script is still *very* raw, and I'm relatively new to bash script
writing. I still have some

Announce list filters
Hi,
(sorry, new thread, already dropped the previous postings)
Johnny H. just posted a surprising feature: filtering options for the
announce list.
But they don't seem to be right or there is no announce standard. Pasi
is posting storms of non i386 things. He uses:
"CentOS 3 s390"
the filter has:
"CentOS-3 s390"

SATA controller Dell Optiplex 745
Hi,
The CentOS 4.4 installation doesn't work on a Optiplex 745 because
it doesn't support the sata controller. Is there a known work-around?
(smaller prob: dvi video doesn't work at install time, vga only)
If only we had CentOS 5 :-)
Cheers,

Squirrel 1.4.8-8.el3.centos.1
Hi,
Last tuesday I upgraded squirrelmail on two centos-3 mailservers.
squirrelmail-1.4.8-8.el3.centos.1, 2.4.21-58.ELsmp, CentOS release 3.9,
httpd 2.0.46
Since then I have some users who have problems with their sessions.
They are logout out every now and them, and some sent mails have another
user address in the From header. It looks like squirrel is mixing up
sessions? Those users have used

libmysqlclient.so.14(libmysqlclient_14)(64bit)
Hi,
I'm trying to update a c4 x86_64 system. This fails because off
Error: Missing Dependency: libmysqlclient.so.14(libmysqlclient_14)(64bit)
is needed by package php-mysql
The system has MySQL 5 rpms, build on monk.karan.org. I can't
remember/find where I found these packages. The thing is, mysqlclient14
(4.1.14 4.c4) only provides libmysqlclient.so.14()(64bit), which was fine

Disabling shutdown and suspend for normal users
Hi,
[CentOS 5]
What is the best way to remove the shutdown and suspend options
from menu's for normal users?
After googling around, I added "SystemMenu=false" to the greeter
section in /etc/gdm/custom.conf. After that the GDM login screen
still shows the options, but 'restart' indeed doesn't work anymore.
However, the gnome menu's when logged in, still have the

4.4 on Dell D620: widescreenresolution?
Hi,
Did anyone manage to get 4.4 working on a Dell D620 laptop? The thing
has a 1440x900 LCD screen, but I don't get X the work with that
resolution. (lspci: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS/940GML Express
Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03))
Google suggested to use '915resolution', which I installed
(915resolution-0.5.2-1.el4.rf), but that doesn't help.

Two small issues after upgrade to 4.2
I made a yum update to 4.2 yesterday. The first "major" update I did on
CentOS, I'm only using it for a few weeks now, starting with 4.1. Mainly
for evaluation for a prospected migration from Suse to CentOS. Basically
the update went very well, fast (only 180 MB needed to be installed) and
smooth. But there were two small issues where I don't know why they
happened:
1.
