Originate and bridge Can it be done? Best Way?
Hi,
Im new, but trying real hard! I just need general direction, not
details yet..i'll try to figure those...just looking to avoid brick
walls...bottlenecks...inefficiencies etc upfront.
Hardware:
motorola vt2442 - trixbox
Apps:
Dot Net application that operates the Manager API and the FASTAGI
interfaces.
I have the 2442 set as a PLAR so as soon as the ext is off-hook, it

Rotary phones? (No, I'm serious)
Will the FXS cards that work with asterisk handle rotary? Are there any
channel banks that can convert rotary to touch tone (like some sorta
bridge)?
The goal is to be able to log input from rotary phones. Full PBX
functionality would be nice but...
(It's for a project, not for serious production).

Key Rotary Lines ?
Looking to install asterisk for a client and was shopping around for prices
for 6 POTS lines with or an integrated T1 with voice and data. I called up
Sprint and I told the sales rep that there was going to be a Phone system
she said that they would have to install "key" rotary lines and then I told
the rep that I needed two more lines with hunt group and she told me that

1950's UK rotary dial phone
Folks,
I've got one of those GPO 1950's rotary dial phones that I'm trying to
get working in the UK. I've got pretty much everything working with my
TDM400, the phone rings and I can receive calls but I cannot dial with
the rotary dialer. I have set pulsedial=true or whatever the exact
setting is and I can dial from the phone by lifting the receiver and
tapping out the number on

Rotary phone on Asterisk
I'm trying to use a couple of old Western Electric type 500 phones (desk
model, rotary dial). These phones work fine, as tested with telco lines
(they dial, receiver/transmitter works fine, etc).
I'm running Asterisk 1.6.2.11.
I can't get them to dial through Asterisk. They are connected to a Rhino
channel bank which is connected to Asterisk via a Sangnoma card (T1 with

Really Old Rotary Phone
Ok... I am not a telephone guy... I was born after rotary phones, so
forgive my ignorance in this matter. I am trying to get a really old
rotary phone up and running with an ATA. Why? Who knows... just
thought it would be cool. The problem is that it does not have an RJ11
connector, instead it has three wires (green, yellow, red). Does anyone
know what that type of connector is called? Or

Bug, Feature, or Limitation?
Howdy--
I'm playing with different IAX softphones. I've got DIAX and IAXPHONE on
a windows (XP) machine on my network, and I'm running asterisk on a
newly loaded Fedora Core 3 machine.
I set up a separate IAX account for each phone. I was EXPECTING them
to each register seperately with asterisk....
But I am swiftly finding out, that ONLY one registers. The first one

Losing CDR(accountcode)
Hi,
I`m occassionally seeing CDR(accountcode)'s value empty at a place in my
diaplan where it was filled with some value a few lines before, with nothing
else having changed it.
It`s giving me headaches (as I rely on it for MySQL queries). Anything I
can do?

AEL2 on Asterisk 1.2.4
Hey all,
I am very interested in using AEL2 (don't want to upgrade to 1.4 to get
it though), but am having some problems upgrading/patching my asterisk
system. I am following the instructions on the wiki:
http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/view/Asterisk+AEL2#AEL2AnnouncementsandNews
But get the following error:

Announcements via IAX phones
Hello--
What I'd like to do:
Use IAX softphones running on computers, in Auto-answer mode, with sound
going to speakers, as a sort of public announcement system.
What isn't working:
Well, my first experiment was to set up the MeetMe system described on
the Wiki...
This works fine for voice announcements. You pick up a phone, dial the
right extension, and an agi is fired up to put files

Warning: CDRfix branches about to be merged into 1.4, 1.6.0, trunk!
This is just a note that the fixes in the CDRfix4 and CDRfix6 branches
are getting closer to being merged into 1.4, trunk, and 1.6.x.
If CDR's are important to you, and you ignore this notice, then
you deserve what you get!
These branches address various long-standing bugs, most of which are
regressions from 1.2. It is hoped that these fixes will solve most of
the
problems introduced by the

Tormenta 2 Card number rotary switch
Hello,
I had two quad-E1 Tormenta2 cards in my system and yesterday i had to
replace the CPU. I noticed the rotary switch on each card that sets the
card number or ID...
Both switches were set up on 0 and everything worked fine. Should i set
one card to 0 and the other one to 1, or... "if it works, don't fix
it!" ?
I had some nightmares with IDs on Dialogic hardware with Bayonne

No MOH on SIP hold nor on park
Hi,
when I put a call on hold from my Nokia E51 (SIP client), the other side
does NOT hear music on hold although sip debug / wireshark shows that
the E51 tells the asterisk that it now holds the call. Canreinvite is
set to "no".
Also, when parking a call (features.conf), the parked caller does not
hear music on hold.
In queues, when using "#" and when using the hold

Experiment: Dialplan size vs. Speed
I was encouraged to post this notice on both asterisk-users and
asterisk-dev;
sorry if this is overkill, but it **is** applicable to both communities.
Since the report is fairly large, has a pretty graph, and the whole bit,
it was thought that posting on it a website, and letting you browse it
would be better than sending hundreds a 50K message.

Any reason to *not* use AEL? (Also, MixMonitor q)
I am building a new Asterisk server here at the office, and I'm
wondering if there are any downsides to creating my dialplan with AEL.
It seems more intuitive (to me), but I'm not sure if there are any
pitfalls I need to be aware of first.
We use this for internal extensions, 8 pots lines, and our answering
service which gets about 500 incoming calls a day down our T1.
Also, one more

CDR Design
I've taken the liberty of starting a new thread to discuss the design
of the Asterisk CDR mechanism. The discussion has been kindly
initiated by murf putting together a proposal:
http://svn.digium.com/svn/asterisk/team/murf/RFCs.
After reading the proposal I still don't think it's the right way to
go. To my mind adding more channel variables increases the complexity

PJSIP Weirdness, or just my weirdness?
Hello!
Oh, wise ones, ponder with me over two of the surprises that
populate the universe!
I have a phone, that I sometimes cannot reach, connected via pjsip.
It can call other extensions just fine, it can call out over a
trunk to my cell, all is well, but getting a call? Forget it most of the
time.
Here is all the config relevant to that phone:
