Python/sqlite date time problems.
Bear with me, this is CentOS related. :)
I have a python CGI that's behaving weirldy on Whitebox systems
that've been switched over to CentOS 4 (ages ago, no other problems to
speak of aside from this one).
I've broken the problem down to a minimal test case...

WhiteBox 4 -> CentOS4.1 - Yum
Hi
Is it possible to swap the yum.conf from my centos box onto my whitebox
box and have the whitebox machine use centos updates through yum? CentOS
seems further ahead and far quicker at roll outs than whitebox?
thanks

Comming from WhiteBox Linux ...
Hello
several months ago I install WhiteBox Linux on several severs, I was
happy, not woriing about upgrading every 1,5 year as when I use RH 4.0,
6.0, 7.3, 9.0 ....
And then WhiteBox went black, WBEL updates release slowed down and
maintainer wont help form anybody. Just telling "If you want quick
updates, build it yourself.".

Poblem with Centos Logos on X bootup...conversion from whitebox to centos.
Hello all
I migrated my Centos installation from a whitebox install few months
ago. Only one minor issue...on booting up X, the login screen shows
whitebox logos. At that time, I did not tackle it because I assumed that
it will automatically be upgraded with yum...and again it was not
essential to running the OS.
What whitebox rpms do I need to substitute with centos ones to correct

Best way to add/update an installation
In an effort to prevent getting many minutes into an installation only
to have a CD read fail (I did verify the CD's first), I did a minimal
install. Can I use the minimal install to add the necessay packages for
a HTTP server and graphical interface?

R packages install problems linux - X not found (WhiteBox EL 3)
Good evening everyone,
I am used to using R under Windows, but have done an install of 1.9.1 under
WhiteBox linux 3 (based on RHEL 3). This all went without a hitch, along
with most of the additional package installs. However, while trying to
install car and rgl I hit a problem regarding the X environment not being
found. As I was doing the install from a console *within* the X environment,

Whitebox to CentOS upgrade
Hi everyone,
I have a home computer that I use to develop on, which it is running
Whitebox 3.0. I have copied all the required CentOS 3.4 RPMs to /RPM,
created a new yum repository and then updated, but when I try to
upgrade, it fails on a "recursive dependency on glibc".
Is there any way I can force that dependency?
Would it be easier to upgrade to 4.0 using Anaconda?
Thanks for all

Missing Dependency problem while upgraing a pure (?) whitebox 4 install to Centos 4.2
Hi all
I don't have the full Centos 4 CD distro, only the minimal server one
(single CD). I use whitebox 4 for desktop installs and then change the
necessary files whitebox-release, diskdumputils, yum etc. & change it
to centos...never had a problem.
This time however, I don't know why, but I chose the "Everything"
option in the package selection dialog during install. Post

Wherefore whitebox?
Well,
I'm a recent convert from WBEL. My biggest concern with CentOS is that the
community here seems to want to be more than a recompile of RHEL.
But WBEL is floundering, what with Katrina and Rita, and there really being
only 1 developer behind it, etc.
I offer an automated shell script to switch from WBEL4 to CentOS4 (easy, it's
hosted on my home DSL line!) It assumes that

adding copies of rows toa data frame based upon start and end dates
Hello All and thanks in advance for any advice.
I have a data frame with rows corresponding radio-collared animals (see
sample data below). There is a start date (DATESTART), and end date
(DATEEND), and the number of days on air (DAYSONAIR). What I would like to
do is add a column called DATE to so that each row ID has a row for every
day that the radio collar was on the air while copying all

Moving data between R and Matlab back and forth?
Hi to the list,
I am trying to find a way to painlessly move structured data back and
forth between R and Matlab (also Octave). For this purpose I found the
R.matlab package great help. I wish to use a Matlab -v6 MAT file as an
intermediary format, because it is well read by both Matlab and
Octave. It is also well read by 'readMat' function in R.matlab
package, but that is where I run

an RPM conundrum
I have an interesting chicken-and-egg problem that I hope someone can help me
out of.
I have a machine on which I originally loaded White Box. I subsequenty
converted to CentOS using the instructions found numerous times in the group
-- e.g. get the redhat-package RPM (thus changing /etc/redhat-release), then
configuring yum and then yum -y upgrade.
Everything has been going fine... that

Newbie Questions
Recent convert from WhiteBox, a few questions
What is the difference between CentOS 4.2 and "4"? Is this like the Whitebox
"respin"? Are updates/packages for 4.2 applicable across all the "4" series
of releases?

Multiple LUN support
Hi all...
I have a scsi Tape library. Centos only sees the tape drive portion of
the library. I need to enable Multiple LUN support to get the library
and tape drive recognized.
I am looking for some help enabling multiple lun support in Centos 4. I
had a procedure on how to do this in the 2.4 kernel but it doesn't seem
to work in the 2.6. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm attempting to build the inexpensive 10g RAC cluster as

I've got the hardware working and everything is looking

I'm using WhiteBox Linux v. 4, which

SunFire X2100 and X4100
Anyone seen either of these "in the wild" yet? RHEL3/RHEL4 are install
options so I'm assuming CentOS will just work out of the box, but I
thought I'd ask here. The 2100 seems like a viable alternative to
whitebox 1RU boxes that we currently use, especially with the new dual
core processors.

AMP with SUSE 9.2
Hi,
I have the newbie guide from AMP's website and (fair enough) it is all
about whitebox linux. Has anyone found any gotchas with the newbie guide
relating to SUSE 9.2 ?
Any help appreciated.
Cheers
