G.729A + Cisco AS5300
Hello,
I have 5 digium's g.729 codecs and succesfully register with asterisk, I have incomming call from my cisco AS5300 to Asterisk through IP. But Asterisk always use g711 ulaw instead of g.729. When I disable all other codecs other than g.729 in both cisco and asterisk, calls get dropped once connected.
The codec list show on my cisco AS5300 for g.729 are:
g729r8
g729br8
I suspect that

Re: Ring/Off-hook in strange state 6 on channel...
Hello Eric,
call progress detection is the problem. Asterisk mistakenly recognizes the call to be answered and then still "hears" the ringing that should not be there if the line was really up.
To solve the problem you would have to either implement a progress detection matching your country's indication tones or at least adjust the existing one for US or Costa Rica in dsp.c.

Asterisk handling of SIP info
We encouter a situation where we need to use SIP info to convey infomation
for one end point to another endpoint. I use asterisk to do the test and
find asterisk does not forward the SIP info to another endpoint, but act as
UAS and returns a 4xx error message. I think asterisk is not right to handle
this SIP info message.

How to delay dialing
Hi there,
I am trying to delay sending out DTMF from Voicetronix OpenLine4 to the CO
line. The reason being is that Voicetronix sends out the DTMF too fast even
before the line is fully established with the carrier. Usually when dialing
an 8 digit number, only 7 digits are actually successfully heard by the
carrier.
Currently, my dial plan is:
exten => _9.,1,Dial(vpb/1-1/${EXTEN:1})

Samba update to 4.2.14 (SERNET) breaks LDAP access
Last night we updated out Samba-4 AD server to version 4.2.14 usng the SERNEt packages, running on SLES 12. We have a number of services (mail services, MANTIS, etc) that access the server via the LDAP interface and in all cases we discovered that none of them where able to establish a successful LDAP connection after the upgrade.
Previously we used plain LDAP to access the server, i.e. we did

iptables port forwarding
I have a simple requirement/test I'm trying to perform, but having difficulty.
I have a system with 2 interfaces, BoxA:
eth0? 172.26.50.102
eth1? 192.101.77.62
My goal is to have a tcp port built on BoxA such that hosts on the 192.101.77.0/24 network can reach a port on a different box on the 172.26.0.0/16 network.
The target system is 172.26.10.120?? tcp/22
The port I wish to build is

Dovecot proxy: Too many open files
It appears that when running Dovecot as a proxy-only box with "login_process_per_connection = no", it ignores the value of login_max_logging_users. And in Linux, since each socket requires a file descriptor, if you don't increase the maximum number of open files that each process is allowed to have open, imap-login will reach the 1024 open file limit and start logging the following

R-beta: Corrections to documentation
Thanks to Peter Dalgaard's message, I learned a bit more about the 'par'
function and rewrote my HTML help file accordingly. Is it appropriate
to submit such changes somewhere to improve the documentation? I would
also be willing to write some missing documentation as well.

[LLVMdev] Iterator issue in BranchFolder::RemoveBlocksWithHash?
Hi all,
I updated from 2.2 to the latest SVN head and I now get a debug assert in
BranchFolder::RemoveBlocksWithHash: "vector iterators incompatible". I'm
using Visual C++ 2005. I think this is the culprit code:
MergePotentials.erase(CurMPIter);
if (CurMPIter==B)
break;
The erase clears the _Mycont field (i.e. the iterator's container), while

asterisk.org webpage
hi all
for new users, finding asterisk info is unneccesary troublesome. the
asterisk.org page has very little information about the product and
using google for 'asterisk' is like using google for 'linux'. you get
all too many hits that has nothing to do with the product. perhaps the
asterisk.org page at least should point to voip-info.org? or perhaps
it's time someone rewrote

Compiling xapian on Ubuntu Breezy
It's not hard to compile the normal xapian stuff but if you download
svn it can be tricky to compile the complete release.
1) Get swig 1.3.26 or higher from swig.org. The Breezy packages are too old.
The rest is only needed for cvssearch.
2) `apt-get install libdb4.1++-dev`
3) Download the recent pstream.h from pstreams.sf.net
Replace cvssearch/db/pstream.h and

How to best deal with undesirable Induction Variable Simplification?
Hello,
Recently I've come across two instances where Induction Variable Simplification lead to noticable performance regressions.
In one case, the removal of extra IV lead to the inability to reschedule instructions in a tight loop to reduce stalls. In that case, there were enough registers to spare, so using extra register for extra induction variable was preferable since it reduced
