mouse issues in centos 4
Hi all, I am the IT department here at my office, I take care of everything pretty much. I chose Centos4 to deploy to my 50 workstations as it was the most compatible with the RHEL. We need the RHEL compatibility for support contract for different tools we use. So far it has been great. I have noticed a few issues since having 50 machines all exactly the same installed with centos 4. I have

Multiple LUN support
Hi all... I have a scsi Tape library. Centos only sees the tape drive portion of the library. I need to enable Multiple LUN support to get the library and tape drive recognized. I am looking for some help enabling multiple lun support in Centos 4. I had a procedure on how to do this in the 2.4 kernel but it doesn't seem to work in the 2.6. Any help would be appreciated. Kernel Panic!
Hey all, Long time user of Centos, I really love what you guys are doing here. I have a farm of 50 Centos 4.1 machines. (originally 4.0 updated with yum up to current 4.1). Ever since I updated to the 2.6.9-11 kernel I am getting a lot of kernel panics. 7 machines suffered kernel panics over the weekend. Funny that they were the only ones that are booted into the new kernel! The rest

Centos kernel c headers [dnk]
Good day -- I am having a go at installing VMware on my centos 4.2 machine. I am going through the configuration script and I am getting to the part where I need the c headers for my kernel. What package do I need to install to make these available, and where are they installed to? I have been searching for this with little luck. Thanks in advance. Dustin

iptables command to view just nat/forward info by ip
Hi there... does anyone know of a handy iptables command to look at existing nat rules? I tried: iptables -t nat -L Which was close, but the problem is that the DNAT and SNAT list the reverse DNS for the IP's, when I would rather see just pure IP's. I have been reading the man pages and google looking for an answer as well. Thanks!

VNC Remote Install Disk
Hey there - I have a tutorial i wrote for my own docs - not sure if you guys want it on the centos wiki. It is a custom centos server 4X disk in which the install connects to a remote listening VNC viewer. The purpose of this disk is simple - to be able to install a second system with centos without having to hook up a keyboard/mouse/monitor. This second machine is my test machine, and I

Good day, I have a centos 4.4 box (all yumed up). Now i have a program that has a sub shell - meaning something like the mysql command line, where once started it takes it's own commands, etc and keeps running until a "quit" command is issued. Centos firewall/router issue
Good day everyone. Today has been "one of those..." days. So I have a feeling this is just a brain lapse here. At any rate, I am setting up a firewall/router using centos 4.4 (minimal install, yummed up to date). I have in fact enables V4 ip forwarding (by editing /etc/sysctl.conf) and rebooted the system. I use fwbuilder for my rules, and at this point have a next to nothing set of

how beta is ppc centos 4?
Hi there, I am looking for a rhel close to run on a PPC. I have used centos for a while and want to stick with what I know. I know there is a V4.0 PPC beta version. How safe is it to use? I have a server that will be going into production, and am hesitant to use a beta product (as one should never use anyways). What is the status of the PPC version? Is it going to be continued to be developed? Is

pptp server tutorial
Hi there.... Has anyone seen a tutorial around for a pptp server (on the same server as the firewall) for centos/rhel 4? I have been following a few general tutorials for POPTOP, but nothing seems to really work as of yet. Thanks! -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

cloning drives
Good day everyone - This maybe somewhat OT, but I was wondering if anyone can recommend a good tool for cloning *nix drives. The one thing though is that I will be cloning a smaller drive than the destination drive and would like to distribute the free space accordingly on the new drive. Can anyone recommend anything? Thanks in advance. :::::::::::::::::::::: Dustin

Files missing (not hidden)
Hi there, I have a samba install on centos 5 with the latest version of samba (samba-3.0.33-3.28). There were two files that just disappeared. The users description is as below: I had worked on them ? both were excel files that linked to each other. I saved it as a different name than the original I worked from (which I found to be very ?buggy?) ? the originals are still in their respective

Push install printers from a samba server
Hi there. I was wondering if anyone had a link to a good tutorial (or docs) in regards to setting up a push install of printers (HP 4200N) from a samba server (CentOS 4) to a mixed windows (98,2k,xp) enviorment. Now I have been investigating using a BAT file in a logon script, but the results seem to be unpredictable (maybe i am usign them wrong?). Then permissions on the target machine seem to be

FIML with missing data in sem package
Is there a way to use full information maximum likelihood (FIML) to estimate missing data in the sem package? For example, suppose I have a dataset with complete information on X1-X3, but missing data (MAR) on X4. Is there a way to use FIML in this case? I know lavaan and openmx allow you to do it, but I couldn't find anything in the documentation for the sem package. Thanks! -- Dustin Fife
