Hi all,
i have a problem with centos's up2date tool. I have setup a central
update server with yam (http://dag.wieers.com/home-made/yam/) under

yum vs up2date
Which is better? Why?
I know yum is the official update mechanism here and in Fedora Core, but
that doesn't make yum better than up2date any more than Windows NT was
better than OS/2.
Let's try to keep the discussion objective:-)
I'm asking, hoping for some insights into why RH might (apparently) be
moving to yum in preference to up2date (yum is now used within Anaconda).

Unable to get software using Yum
Hi
I am new to CentOS and been into Linux for about 3 months now. I first
started off with fedora and also trying my hands on CentOS now.
Basically i used yum to download softwares on the fedora box. I mainly
require the snmp agent for my linux boxes so as to test my network
management product. On some of the CentOS boxes the following command
worked for me :
yum install net-snmp

Dag mirror, yum and repomd.xml!
Hi:
I have a mirror of dag repository
(http://apt.sw.be/redhat/el4/en/i386/dag/) in my intranet which is used
by other servers to install/update rpms. I installed on every remote
server the rpmforge rpm, edit the /etc/yum.repos.d/rpmforge.repo to fit
with my intranet mirror, but when I run yum, I get this error:
#yum -c rpmforge.repo search nagios

Yum Mirror Errors
While attempting to grab some packages from the repos I've been getting
a lot of mirror errors. Anyone have any idea why?
I've recently updated from CentOS 5 Beta2 to the final version and it
went flawlessly. The first thing I did though was to update the
centos-release packages per a previous post. I was under the impression
this would take care of repo problems. Was I incorrect?

I need to reconfigure yum on one of our centos 5.3 systems in order for the
