RTP session traversing Asterisk server ...
I've been reading up on the SIP and related (SDP/RTP) RFC's and as I would expect the RTP session should ideally be between the two end points of the call, in my case the AS5300 and the 7940 which are connected on the same VLAN as the Asterisk server. When I sniff the packets on the VLAN I find that all RTP packets are being relayed by the Asterisk server causing increased load on the

PJSIP reInvite
Hi All, We are using asterisk 16.5 and having an issue with the first re-invite after the call has been established. We can see the call gets up and you see in the logs the bridge type has changed and after that a re-invite is triggered. Is there any possibility to deactivate this kind of reInvite? We have some race conditions while have multiple asterisk in the call flow and the different

best low-bandwidth strategy
Hi, To push voice through a long thin wan (dsl) there are two choices: (1) have the cisco's (7912G) talk g729a to each other (reinvite=yes), or (2) have the cisco's talk to their local * in ulaw (reinvite=no), which talk to each other through a more advanced low-bandwidth codec (ilbc or speex) which is best? (2) would have more latency, wouldn't it? Did I miss a third option?

conditional canreinvite
Hi, I have asterisk on public IP and phones in two locations behind firewall/nat, - when I have nat=yes and canreinvite=no, this is working fine, but rtp stream must go _always_ through asterisk, even if phones talk inside their locations - when I have nat=yes and canreinvite=yes, phones can speak only inside their location and rtp stream is connected directly between phones (this is, imho,

functional difference: canreinvite=yes, no, or update
Can anyone give an example of the difference between the following: canreinvite=no canreinvite=yes canreinvite=update Here is the problem: I have an 800 number sent to me via SIP from a national carrier. Asterisk gets the number and rings my desk phone. Asterisk has 2 NICs, one with public IP and private IP. My phone is on private IP, the inbound call is on public. My phone rings and I answer

SIP Asterisk Polycom Reinvite
Wondering if anyone has experienced an intermittent one way audio (called party can not hear) problem in these conditions; Several IP501 phones local, same subnet. Remote asterisk No NAT anywhere Polycom IP501 ulaw only, canreinvite=yes Asterisk Call termination path is to a sonus GSX operated by the upstream carrier, ulaw only, canreinvite=no The idea is that if the Polycoms are

Changing REINVITE status of the channel dynamically
I've an Asterisk server running in my office, which forwards all long distance calls to a third party SIP service using an extension rule: exten => _1XX0.,1,Dial(SIP/{EXTEN:4}@external_sip_server.com) (1XX0 is the international calls rule for Chile) Also, in my sip.conf, I've defined canreinvite=yes to decrease the network load to the server caused by the RTP. However, the external

Asterisk & Vitelity Invite issues
Hi All, We have asterisk 11.23 running sip to vitelity and from there IAX trunks split off to where they need to go. We are having a problem getting chan_sip to quit ignoring re-invites from Vitelity. Our side ends up sending a reinvite which their side & they do not support us sending a reinvite. Ive tried: canreinvite=no which was supposedly replaced by: directmedia=no Can anyone shed

canreinvite always =no * no matter what we try :-(
been testing with a rather simple setup. The mission is to actually get a reinvite to work on the lan. I am trying with two sipura phones G.711 codec forced on both both on the lan no nat no fancy options suchs as tT or H No matter what we do asterisk hangs on to the media path, how in the world do I get a reinvite to work where the media path is actually handled by the two phones on the lan?

Cisco Message Waiting Indicator
Hi, I have just upgraded my Cisco 7960 phone to SIP firmware today and I have to say it's working great with Asterisk. At work (which uses Cisco Call Manager), when a voicemail is recieved the read light remains lit until the voicemail is retrieved. Is there any way to achieve the same effect with Asterisk ? Thanks, Paul. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was

Selective canreinvite in multi-tenant environment
Hello, all. In our multi-tenant environment, we would like to be able to use the reinvite media redirection within Asterisk for calls within a tenant but not between tenants. We would like inter-tenant calls to be fully proxied by the Asterisk server. I think the answer is, "we can't," but I thought I'd ask anyway. I'd dearly like to remove the substantial traffic

Cisco Call Manager 4.0 to Asterisk, Anyone have SIP Reinvite working?
Hi All, I haven't started sip traces or debug yet, but was wondering what the deal is with the CCM and reinvite, why it doesn't work with Asterisk (using 1.2.9.1). I can make calls back and forth all day with canreinvite=no, when I try to reinvite an inbound sip call from the CCM with Asterisk server 1 to Asterisk Server 2, I get one-way audio issues. All the RTP ports are configured

canreinvite question
Is it possible to allow reinvites to/from specific devices? For example; exten 2001 and 2002 can reinvite to each other, but not 2003 and 2004 exten 2003 and 2004 can reinvite to each other, but not 2001 and 2002 Can that be done? Devices 2001 & 2002 are behind one firewall, and 2003 & 2004 are behind another. Tim

Configuring Bandwidth.com SIP trunks to prevent one-way audio
Hello, We have 2 SIP trunks from Bandwidth.com and if both are in use and someone tries to dial out, they cause another call to get one-way audio (the caller hears us, we cannot hear them). This happens 100% of the time and Bandwidth.com doesn't offer any support. I don't see any setting that tells Asterisk that there are 2 channels available from Bandwidth.com's IP. I'm

Get asterisk out of the RTP stream?
Here is the setup: Phone A (in NYC) on own bandwidth. Phone B (in LA) on own bandwidth. Asterisk box in Houston,TX on own bandwidth. Both phones contact asterisk to register. Not much bandwidth used for this as it is a few packets every hour or so. Phone A calls Phone B. Phone A sends a call request to asterisk and asterisk calls phone B. Both phones are connected and both people are talking.

asterisk tries reinvite when incompatible codecs on call legs
Hi, I just ran into what seems to be an issue on re-invites. I'm not sure if it's a bug or as designed, so I thought I'd ask the question. Here's my setup: - Asterisk 1.8.13.0 - Phone A: Polycom ip331, only allowed to use ulaw, canreinvite=yes - Phone B: Polycom ip330, only allowed to use alaw, canreinvite=yes Phone A calls the extension of phone B. After the normal call setup

SIP, Sipura SPA-2000, and Voicemail2
I figured out what was going on with the lack of/stuck on stuttered dial tone. Apparently, there are two voicemail directories being referenced: /var/spool/asterisk/voicemail/default, and /var/spool/asterisk/voicemail/local. The sip phones were using /var/spool/asterisk/voicemail/local to dump VM messages into, yet the MWI looks at /var/spool/asterisk/voicemail/default. Does anyone know why
