Festival Problems
I am trying to use festival (latest version 1.4.3) I have downloaded all the files needed and patched it with the provided diff. festival does work and does tts fine. but when I call Festival either from an extention or an AGI script, I get this in my asterisk messages log, but no sound on the channels (H323 or SIP) - they (the clients) just say "trying" and then hangup... RE: 5, 000 concurrent calls system rollout question
Isn't it ridiculous that Hammer charges an arm and a leg for any work they do. For systems as large as that one, we just setup a seperate one, connect them back to back and run automated script to burn it in. -----Original Message----- From: asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com [mailto:asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com]On Behalf Of William Boehlke Sent: Thursday, February 02, 2006

Production-environment AD rollout?
Hey, all. I've used Samba a lot, but took a job about four years ago during which time I've only used it for one-off projects. Looks like I might take a new job, though, and I'll get to call the shots. I'd *love* to have Samba with AD running things, and just have Windows in-place as clients (possibly with Exchange... can't win 'em all). Is this feasible in this day and

So sorry! was: Re: EL 6 rollout strategies? (Scientific Linux)
As the OP for this thread, it saddens me to see that the thread I started has now been used as a forum for behavior of the worst kind seen in professional circles. I'm a longtime user of CentOS and merely wanted to know of users' past experiences transitioning between SL and CentOS. My first experience with CentOS was as a transition from Whitebox to CentOS, and the process was as

Which distribution to rollout
we are running an older version of RH (7.3) - and I am getting concerned that I may need to migrate off of it - but I dont know what I should move to. Trying to formulate ideas before it becomes a 'got to do it now' scenario. I have some reservations about fedora - I just dont know how stable it is for a production server (our services are mainly samba/ldap/ntp/ssh/rsync/clamav) - we

Newbie 2 PBX VOIP, protocol ?'s using Cisco 827 7910
I am replacing a dead pbx with *. There are four lines I will be using. There is a Cisco 827-4v already in place so I will move the lines from the pbx to it. I am working with Cisco 7910 phones and I understand they use the Skinny/SCCP protocol. I am not sure if I should use chan_skinny or chan_sccp? However my main question is with communication. Do I need to use the same protocol between the

Re: 5, 000 concurrent calls system rollout question
Why is using ulaw or alaw an unlikely scenario? I wouldn't use anything but ulaw\alaw. The Bells can compete on price and will if they have to. Where they CAN'T compete is quality. If there were something better than 711, I'd offer that. Well, there is 722, but not many things support it. ---- Mike Hammett Intelligent Computing Solutions http://www.ics-il.com ----- Original

Advice sought: Virtual Win7 on Centos 6.2
Folks I have a new laptop running Centos 6.2 64-bit. I'd like to put a virtual machine running Windows 7 (licensed), with full audio/video functions, and good response. Which virtual system would you recommend? I can think of KVM, or VirtualBox, or ...? The "good response" requirement pretty much excludes a web-style video presentation. Opinions solicited. Git: help sought
I have a project using Git on machine A. I'm running a Centos server on machine B. I'd like to "publish" the project on machine B (mainly for my own use, so I can access it from various sites). I've asked about this on a Git mailing list, but haven't understood the replies. In particular, a couple of people suggested gitolite, but when I examined this I couldn't make

[OT] Lexmark T632 info sought
We have a bunch of old Lexmark T63x printers connected to our LAN. These are accessed via IPP from our CentOS hosts and via TCP for our MicroSoft work stations. Both connections have worked without problems for years. This past week one of the T632s was replaced and since that time we cannot get either IPP or TCP to work with it from our CentOS hosts. It continues to work for the Windows

Re-booting into CentOS-7.2 - advice sought
I have a remote home server updated to CentOS-7.2.1511 (as stated in /etc/redhat-release) but I have not re-booted since the update. The machine is currently running kernel 3.10.0-229.11.1.el7.x86_64. I'm wondering if anyone has advice on any safety steps I can take before re-booting, so that in the event of failure I can give simple instructions to my daughter at the other end on how to get
