SIP soft phones
Hello!
Can anyone recommend a good/handy/nice sip soft phone?
I have already done some testing with kphone and gnome meeting (which cant
do sip). Can you recommend a open source project?
It should mainly be practial and have a address book.
I found kphone quite unstable, the address book is designed quite poor,
and if you would like to transfer a call with the transfer button you cant

Trying to start Cakewalk Sonar (Music Production Program)
Good Morning
im trying to get a program to run which is called Cakewalk Sonar Producer x1.
Its a music production software by the way http://www.cakewalk.com/products/sonar/X1-Producer/.
The installation runs through but give me some errors at the point where the installer wanted to register some DLL files with the (wine)included RegSvr32.exe
The DLL files are programbased and not very typical.

Owtch, my ears. :( I find that 16 kHz beep most irritating, it hurts
even at low volumes. ;P
Anyways, the humming you hear is actually multiple tones,

MIDI
Hi!
If a soundcard lacks a Linux driver (like Yamaha's SW1000XG) is there any
chance WINE could use the Windows' driver and make a sequencer like Cakewalk
Pro Audio work with it? Or is that hoping too much?

Running Cubase with wine - HOW?
I am completely new to Linux and Wine. I've tried to make Wine work since some 1999, but never had patience with it. Tried reading guides, manuals and so on, but things did not work. All Linux versions I've tried have never run any windows-based programs after I installed Wine (and used to install a propper version of wine - that corresponds to Linux version) - what I did is what is said

SIP soft phone registration
Hello--
I've installed a few X-Lite softphones on windows machines, and am
playing with the settings. I've written before about this, and since
have discovered that the X-Lite has an option to turn off registration,
which I have set, because I bumped into a letter from Mark, saying that
Asterisk doesn't do registrations yet. And, without such on the X-Lite,
I can still dial out, and

Newbie question on soft phones with SIP and *
I am new to the Telephony world and am trying to get a basic idea of how
things work.
Can I use Asterisk to connect two soft phones on a LAN to communicate
with one another without any additional hardware (besides the
sound-card)?
If this is possible, I seem to be doing something wrong. I have
installed a version of X-Lite and can't seem to get it to ring on my Win
PC.
Any pointers to docs

Hard & soft phones
Hello All,
I'm about 1/2 way through building an * system for home office. I have
the server built, * installed, but I'm waiting for a Grandstream phone
to arrive to have a reliable client. In the mean time I have a few
short questions.
1. I have the X-Pro soft phone client. It's presently configured for
FWD. What settings would I need in it to get it to use the * server? I

Rederecting an incoming CAPI call to SIP soft phones
Hi everyone,
I have the following configuration:
Calls are coming in into the Asterisk system via an ISDN card
(AVM ISDN-Controller C4)
When a call is received, it's placed into a hold using the dial-plan:

exten => s,3,SetMusicOnHold,random
exten => s,4,MusicOnHold,random
An application is running in the background, using the

Asterisk calls without soft phones
Hi every one:

I have Asterisk running on Linux Redhat9 dstr. I
subscribed to a third party sip providers to make LD

Soft phones that _actually_ work under Linux?
Surely there has to be one soft phone that works under Linux.
I've tried:
kphone - it sometimes complains about the need to release the sound
device
linphone - sssssssslllllllllooooooooowwwwwww
iaxcomm - needs some strange widgets
various others - either only supplied as binaries, or just plain don't
work, or won't compile.
Is there just one out there that is guaranteed to work with

IAX2 ping confusion and unreachable soft phones
I've turned on debug in a (IAXComm based) soft phone. I see the
phone sending pings to *. I see * getting the pings. For some reason,
with iax2 show debug, I never see any response on the console from *.
However, the phone shows a response with INVAL. Seems like an odd
response to a ping request. I believed it should get an ACK. Is that
wrong? If I should get an ACK, what could I have messed

Suggestions for web based soft phones
For a while now I've been looking for a good web based soft phone solution,
but so far no luck. A few solutions which I've tried, both Java based and
Flash based, either don't work, or had bad sound quality. I need something
which I could put on my productions server for my clients.
Seems like good web based solutions are all paid ones, nobody is giving it
for free. Any ideas,

Audio Delay of 1-2 seconds, one way with Zoiper soft phones
Hi All
I will do a test call from a soft phone to my mobile. I can speak into my
headset and the audio is heard instantly. But if I speak into my mobile
there is a 1-2 second delay in the Audio. I am using SIP.
I am only finding it in the Zoiper Softphones that we are using. All other
phones don't seem to have it present. Sadly the customer is Quite attached
to the Zoiper.
I have set QOS =

chan_h323 - Segmentation fault (core dumped)
Hi all:
I've got some core dumps when I use chan_h323. I dial an extension using
h323, routed thru an E100P (like a H323-ISDN_PRI gateway). Sometimes *
hangs, sometimes not. The client used for test es SjPhone
(http://www.sjlabs.com/).
This is the data for one core dump:
