I then got the tarball files, unzipped them on Linux and compiled and everything installed fine. My next goal is to setup 1 SIP channel, and be able to call the Asterisk PBX from a

Delays while playing a message
Hello, 1-2 sec pauses happen while * plays (streams) messages/prompts. We get reports about that from users and experience it ourselves randomly. Cannot reproduce it for debugging though, so need to figure out some other ways to fix it. 1. It's not silence recorded within or pauses between audio files 2. It's not load related - can happen with no load at all 3. We use decent boxes - dual

Problem installing Asterisk with Mandrake 9.1
Hi All, I am trying to get Asterisk up and running on my new Mandrake 9.1 install. I've installed Linux in the "standard" mandrake security mode, and "su" to do my attempts at install. I managed to obtain the source from CVS, and have been able to compile Zaptel. I then ran insmod zaptel, and also make config. I think I have compiled and loaded Zaptel successfully as

Today I released rssh v2.1.0 with that last peice of functionality to be added, bringing active development of rssh to a close. Additionally, I spent several hours testing and debugging this release as thoroughly as I could think to, and I'm pleased to report (tongue in cheek)

Stable versions of Asterisk (Was: Re: Fair comparison (John Todd))
Hi, It's really a problem for new Asterisk users. I am new to Asterisk and do not know * history, which applications are stable, which are in development, and who do what? It's really hard for new users to keep the pace with CVS. So can you recommend more stable Asterisk versions, which are suitable for production environments? My needs is simple: standard switch (Call transfer,
