Large partition problem
I really hope someone has a clue on this one.... :)
I've got a 2.2TB array mounted on a 3ware 9500 controller. I installed it
last week ensuring that LBA was enabled and using gpt with parted to get
the full size available on one array. I also think I chose reiserfs for
the array. We then moved ALOT of data to the array.
Problem now is that after a reboot LBA doesn't seem to be in

Can''t install Shorewall
I am running Red Hat Linux 8.0 and I want to install Shorewall. I have
downloaded it as LATEST.rpm. I downloaded it to
/root/downloads/shorewall. When I issue "rpm -qip LATEST.rpm" I get
"Name: shorewall; Version: 1.3.14".
The "Installation and Upgrade" page at shorewall.net says "* Install
the RPM (rpm -ivh <shorewall rpm>)." Obviously it

CentOS6: missing kernel module?
Testing out tipc for cluster development, and running into an immediate snag.
tipcutils was found in EPEL but despite having a "compatible" kernel, it
doesn't seem to actually work.
It's a completely updated system, Intel i5 with 16 GB of RAM, nothing
remarkable.
Any ideas?

Dovecot Oy merger with Open-Xchange AG
People, PLEASE do not engage Reindl on the list, it always results in
this kind of garbage that the adults on the list could do without.
If you feel compelled to 'call him out', then by all means do so, but do
it PRIVATELY.
Thanks.

Installation problems on old IBM server
I'm trying to install CentOS 4.2 on an old IBM x300 server, but it hangs
during the boot from cd. The last entries I can see before it dies are the
two "agpgart" lines. I've been playing around with bios settings (video
settings and serial settings since the serial driver is the next thing
going on in the kernel) and boot params (noapic, acpi=off etc) but I just

libmysqlclient.so.14(libmysqlclient_14)(64bit)
Hi,
I'm trying to update a c4 x86_64 system. This fails because off
Error: Missing Dependency: libmysqlclient.so.14(libmysqlclient_14)(64bit)
is needed by package php-mysql
The system has MySQL 5 rpms, build on monk.karan.org. I can't
remember/find where I found these packages. The thing is, mysqlclient14
(4.1.14 4.c4) only provides libmysqlclient.so.14()(64bit), which was fine

hi all
I've been reading this thread with interest. As a rather novice programmer.
I'm not being humble here, I really am not very good, I can do stuff, but
it takes a LONG time. My spaghetti code even has meatballs in it !
Not being a great programmer I'm not really able to code something up, but
it occurred to me something could be scripted, are the other posters

nsswitch groups confusion
Hello,
I just recently migrated our samba fileservers to be members of our
corporate AD domain, which seemed to work out so far. Now, I experience
problems with group membership of groups that are defined on our old ldap
server. To avoid recreating all these groups in the AD, i thought it'd be
nice to use the old groups with the new user accounts via nsswitch.
