Help with stripplot
For the following code is there a way to make the jitter all line up horizontally, instead of them being just randomly spread around a value. So for ex if there are multiple values at 63 for genotype wt then all the values should be plotted on the same y value of 63 but spaced apart by a certain factor or noise.. library(lattice); dataFrame <- as.data.frame(t(structure(c( 64,'wt',

Incompatible Libraries
Fellow users, I'm running into some rather odd behavior trying to compile some software, and would like to know if there is maybe a fix or if I should revert back to a 32-bit version of Centos. I'm trying to compile NCAR Graphics, as well as some other weather related software on this machine which is running the Centos 4.1 x86-64 version. It's a dual Xeon processor.

How to eliminate for next loops in this script
I needed to compute a complicated cross tabulation to show weighted means and standard deviations and the only method I could get that worked uses a series of nested for next loops. I know that there must be a better way to do so, but could use some assistance pointing the way. Here is my working, but inefficient script: library(Hmisc) rm(list=ls()) load('NHTS.Rdata') day.wt <-

It also walks through a few examples, debugging with FireBug, and finishes off with some reference material. The book is 56 pages and is available in PDF format. Reciprocal Mill's Ratio
I believe that this may be more appropriate here in r-devel than in r-help. The normal hazard function, or reciprocal Mill's Ratio, may be obtained in R as dnorm(z)/(1 - pnorm(z)) or, better, as dnorm(z)/pnorm(-z) for small values of z. The latter formula breaks dowm numerically for me (running R 2.4.1 under Windows XP 5.1 SP 2) for values of z near 37.4 or greater. Looking at the pnorm

Hi I am trying to push populate /home & subdirectories from the puppet server to all the Linux clients. I managed this with cfengine using rsync. But I am not sure how do I achieve this in puppet, do we have any inbuilt function for this. Also, is there a function for userdel like for useradd (user) groupadd(group). Any suggestion is appreciated. -- Deepak

R vs. Stata
I have read some very good reviews comparing R (or Splus) to SAS. Does anyone know if there are any reviews comparing R (or Splus) to Stata? I am trying to get others to try R in my department, and I have never used Stata.
