Meridian Option 11 and asterisk
Has anyone ever interfaced a merdian option 11 and asterisk. Just
wondering how you went about, it's for a small setup me only need
between 4/6 channels, I was thinking about using some spare ISDN
channels between the two. Has anyone seen an SIP option for the
meridian?

integration with Meridian/Norstar ATA2
I'm attempting to use an asterisk box with a Digium TDM01B as voicemail
for an existing Meridian/Norstar PBX with an ATA-2 adapter. We're
having problems where hangup is not always (but sometimes) detected.
It's not detected probably 70% of the time or more. (The users transfer
callers to an extension--caller then has to navigate a menu to get to
the appropriate user).

use of Asterisk and T100P as Nortel DSX-1?
Hi all,
I've seen a couple of posts recently from people who are doing
something with Asterisk and a T100P and a Nortel PBX. However it's
not clear exactly what they are doing.
Does anyone know if it's possible to use a T100P or T400P as a DSX-1
interface to connect to a T1/PRI CO module in a Nortel PBX? We have
a Nortel Norstar Modular ICS PBX and I'd like to plug its CO

I need to connect Asterisk to a Nortel Meridian phone plant
Hi. I had successful confiured my Asterix PBX, but now I need to connect it
to a Nortel Meridian phone plant, I got a Digium T100P on the machine I got
the Asterisk and I already connect it with the phone plant, I need to know
what configuration do I have to do so the ip extensions can make calls to
the extensions of my plant Nortel. And extensions from the Nortel plant can

Experiences with Fedora 1
Hi all-
Over the past week or two, I've been trying out asterisk under Fedora 1
Linux (RedHat). In my setup (single and dual Xeon motherboards), I have so
far had a very good experience in terms of performance. In doing E1 load
testing, I've found that Fedora handles heavy load much better than RedHat9,
probably because of its better use of the multi-threading capabilities of
the Xeon.

Nortel SL1 protocol and *?
I have been investigating more tight integration between * and the Nortel
MICS... it appears that it is at least theoretically possible to have *
store voicemail and log which stations call where.
Both require a T1 card. The T1 card requires either a clocking module or the
6-port fiber module to provide T1 timing. Naturally a T100P or TE405P is
required on the * side.
To log which

TE410P on Redhat 9
I am the proud new owner of a TE410P, and installed it on a RedHat 9 box.
After compiling just fine, running like a champ in tests, and having my
extensions.conf configured to taste, I went ahead and did a live beta test
this past weekend.
The phone system stopped responding 3 times. The first time, I got into the
asterisk console, vi -rvvvvv. I didn't see anything too out of the
ordinary,

PRI dead in USA?
Hi-
Because a majority of my customers are in Europe, I've gotten quite used to
working with ISDN (PRI) and BRI on a regular basis. Recently one of my
customers asked me if I could terminate a few lines locally here in the USA
(California), so I called up SBC to enquire as to how much it would cost to
install a BRI here.
Although the rates were reasonable (except the installation), I got

"Glare" condition - How well does asterisk handle?
Hi-
I have an upcoming application that requires use of PRI channels that are
primarily used for high-volume incoming traffic, but that are to be used for
outbound calling as well. Of course, one option is to have dedicated
outbound channels reserved, but this is an inefficient use of channel
resources.
Normally PBX's are designed to have the CPE yield to an incoming call if a

Question about cdr_sql fields
Hello-
Is it possible to set the CDR record field called "accountcode" from within
the dialplan? Or is there another way to cause this field to be set,
preferably without using AGI code.
Thanks

Newbie - setup help
Hi,
I'm trying to setup Asterisk on a Linux (redhat 8) machine.
There are no analogue phones to be used & use is purely for internet traffic
(SIPs).
I've followed the setup guide from :
http://www.automated.it/guidetoasterisk.htm
But cannot get asterisk to run.
If I type asterisk at the command prompt I get invalid instruction
If I type ./asterisk start I get [FAILED]

Nortel M Series phones support
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
I've searched the mailing list quite extensively, but didn't come up
with anything promising (some things wer helpful, though). Does anyone
know if Nortel M Series (specifically the 2008, 2616, 7208, and 7310)
phones can be made to work with the TDM400P card or if they are ADSI
compatible at all? I kind of doubt they will work if they are

cdr_mysql question: accountcode
Hello-
I'm using the "accountcode" field in cdr table to store some temporary
information used by my perl scripts. I'm finding that the field seems to be
truncated to 19 characters, even though the allocated field in the table is
larger (varchar(45)).
Anyone familiar with the asterisk sources know where I can make a change to
keep this from happening? ie: to allow more

IP Phone recommendations?
Hey gang,
I'm looking at escaping from a Nortel Meridian CISC system to
Asterisk/Digium/SIP phones. I'm currently in the testing and proof of
concept phase. I'm going to need a SIP phone and don't want to
re-purchase and have "orphans" around.
We currently run Nortel 7310 phones and they work great.
I'm sort of overwhelmed by all of the different IP phones. I

Offering an Asterisk Documentation and FAQ Portal
Hi,
I have resources available to host a portal specifically for the Asterisk system, to help correlate documentation, FAQ's and How To
I am new to Asterisk, and my hardest work is in locating information on using or configuring the software.
Would Mark, John or any of you feel this would be of benefit to host?
I am offering a PHP-NUKE portal for this, (Unless you know of a better

line battery check
I know in the x100p hardware the driver can sense whether there is battery
voltage on the line or not. Is this possible in the zap drivers using t1/e1
interfaces ?
I believe the signalling bits are only ring and hook, not loop presence, so
not sure if it is possible.
I had a situation last night where a main cable was cut in the area and
lines were down overnight. My burglar alarm knew right

Fix for Redhat 9 zombie AGI processes
Hi all-
Thanks to Mark Spencer for finding this patch:
If you are experiencing leftover zombie processes from your AGI scripts that
have terminated, this is apparently due to a RedHat 9 threading issue
introduced in a recent update....
To get rid of this, try entering the following line before you start
asterisk:
export LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.1
It works for me - I'm still checking to

CPU power required - Asterisk
Hi-
I'm almost embarrassed to ask the following simple question, following John's
excellent and rigorous bandwidth analysis (see earlier thread):
I have a straightforward Asterisk application, IVR-only (no connections
between channels). It will simply decode DTMF's and speak prompts (probably
A-Law encoded) on a number of E1 circuits simultaneously.
Realistically, how many

Billing Telephone Number (BTN)
I have Asterisk setup with two PRI's one going to my telco and the
other going to a Norstar Meridian system. The Norstar Meridian is
sending a BTN number that needs to be passed to the Telco. Is there a
way to pass the BTN as a variable in the dial plan? Like
CallerID(num)? What is the variable for BTN if so?
Many Thanks.
