RE:mandrake linux install of zaptel
Extreme N00b, I am getting the error message "a target does not exist" when
running the make install inside the zap directory, probably pretty common,
possibly a package I didn't install, just need some insight on it. The same
occurs with the libpri and asterisk.

More on the IAD connection
As a follow-up to my previous post where I stated the IAD would be a
Vina model, after some more prodding to XO, they have told me it will
either be an Adtran TA-600 or a CAC Adit 600. These products are covered
pretty well on the web and I have manuals on both. So, if those
knowledgeable folks had to use one of these to attach to an Asterisk
box, what interface would be best or at least

Re: Adding an app (Steven Critchfield)
Thanks for the help. I was able to get my application to load with
Asterisk, now I just need to get it to work. After reading your comment, I
don't know that I fully understand what's going on as far as the channels
and extensions. Are you saying that the MWI is tied to the channel? If
that is the case, then for my SIP phones, would the channel be (SIP/XXXX)?
If it should be, then

Copying CentOS AMIs for EBS encryption
I,
Just wondering if anyone was able to look at this option with the current images or could share some tips on copying the image to another AWS account so we can use EBS encryption on the volume without tainting the image too much?
Thanks.
Andrew.

Amazon EC2 - building a minimal centOS ebs bootable image
Hello
Looking to build CentOS based micro EC2 instance bootable from Amazon
EBS. Want that the image be minimal, so that I can add only the rpms I
want.
Despite looking could not find a way to import a CentOS image from
scratch or an existing minimal CentOS image that is bootable from EBS.
My server must must persist, as I cannot handle issues with a dynamic
server, so I want to use a server

How could I install the asterisk with embede d system?
Just change the install prefix directory in asterisk makefile to something
like /usr/local/asterisk, and then you will see all the files needed for
asterisk to run.

RE: +AFs-Asterisk-Users+AF0- Multi-line, multi-registration phones
Okay, so like this?
PHONE1+AD0-SIP/2000
PHONE2+AD0-SIP/3000
PHONE3+AD0-SIP/4000
ALL+AD0AJAB7-PHONE1+AH0AJgAkAHs-PHONE2+AH0AJgAkAHs-PHONE3+AH0-
Then you would have
Exten +AD0APg- s,1,Dial(+ACQAew-ALL+AH0-,20)
Is that right?
I have read about the Macros but don't understand their use. Could
someone provide an example?
Sorry about the newby questions... This will hopefully be my

Feedback request: AGI GET DATA change termination digits
Hi, this is my 1.st response to this list, i hope this will work.
I tend to agree with Steven since just allowing other termination digits probaly wont solve your upcoming the issues anyway. I use a wrapper around the 'get digit' which allows me to specify that the * digit repeats the menu but maxium 3 times and if the * star digit is used twice in sequence (without other digits inbetween

Power Over Ethernet for *any* ethernet switch(or hub); product idea
PoE, or 802.3af, uses a device detection routine to determine if the
connected device needs power.
The process, in greatly simplified terms, is as follows:
1. Detect link state
2. Send a pulse of a known frequency and intensity over the
TX/RX pairs
3. Listen for reflection.
3a. No reflection- provide power
3b. Reflection- no power
Devices that comply with 802.3af have filters designed

[CentOS] Copying CentOS AMIs for EBS encryption
Hi,
I am trying to copy the latest CentOS image to my own AWS account so that I can enable EBS volume encryption. It currently looks like the option when sharing the image is not enabled to allow direct copying of the snapshots, and I am wondering if this could be looked at? I can start an instance with this AMI, then create a new snapshot for the purpose of enabling EBS volume encryption, but

Dialogic channel pricing
Speaking as former Dialogic/Bayonne user who was frustrated for months with
Dialogic's complexity and months of initial testing with GlobalCall only to
use their many-years-old and very complex base Dialogic drivers(and
eventually scrapping it all for Digium/Asterisk and being up one week
later), I can tell you that Digium/Asterisk is definately the way to go.
It is 1000 times easier to

Re-attaching zpools after machine termination [amazon ebs & ec2]
I''m trying to provide some "disaster-proofing" on Amazon EC2 by using a ZFS-based EBS volume for primary data storage with Amazon S3-backed snapshots. My aim is to ensure that, should the instance terminate, a new instance can spin-up, attach the EBS volume and auto-/re-configure the zpool.
I''ve created an OpenSolaris 2009.06 x86_64 image with the zpool structure

Adit 600 - Getting Dial Tone
Hello, I have an Adit 600 (3 FXS cards) hooked up to a digium T1 card in my
asterisk box. I 'connected' the slots to the a:1 T1 interfaces via the
command line. The slots (3 fxs) are configured with 'ls' signaling. I
configured the T1 card with the same line settings as the T1 interfaces on
the adit and I get green lights on both the T1 card and the T1 interface on
the adit (so

Re: Applications of TDMoE "critch"
Juan,
I dont see people here with "attitude" or any need to shut down this
list as you suggested. Contrary to your experience, I find people to be
quite helpful here.
Steven's comment "Start here and then ask a real question" is definitely
not arrogant IMHO. He is just trying to knock some etiquette on Luan.
Besides, he did give him all the answer Luan was looking for.
