Restart after crash
Hi, Is it possible do have fsck to run automatically [without operator intervention], if it was not a clean shutdown. Right now, somebody has to bring a monitor & keyboard and say Y, if not it will not run and verify the drive. This is for remote headless servers. -- Thanks http://www.911networks.com

pup problem
Hello! On May 28, I had a problem with pup and seamonkey. I was doing an update via pup and reading a page via seamonkey; seamonkey froze with a plain brown screen. I waited awhile, and then did the press-the-power-button-until-it-shuts-off. However, I don't know whether it was seamonkey or pup that actually caused the freeze, but apparently pup did not do its updating job correctly.

Intended behaviour of "add user" and smbpasswd
Hi, I'd like to upgrade my 2.2 samba to the latest 3.x stable, so I'm experimenting with the new features of 3.x on a RHEL 3 clone. I've run into some difficulty when using usrmgr.exe for administrating users. I've filled out the 'add user script' define with: add user script = /usr/sbin/useradd -g sambausers -c "Samba User" -d /dev/null -s

Rcmdr GUI goes into loop via alt+backspace under Windows OS
I'm using Rcmdr version 1.4-10 with R version 2.9.0 under Vista x64. A standard editing convention under Windows is that alt+backspace is a keyboard shortcut for "undo". I often find myself hitting the [alt] and [backspace] keys while editing scripts in Rcmdr. However, this causes the Rcmdr GUI to go into a crazy mode where the menu keeps flashing and the GUI is unresponsive.

Fedora Updates Hosed Wine
So some specs ... Fedora 10 (32bit), Wine (v1.1.15). I installed warcraft 3 and frozen throne expansion, when I did a clean Fedora 10 install with Wine 1.1.15. Things ran well for the most part, once in awhile war3 would throw up and error just after launching, all I had to do was relaunch the program and I was good. I was using opengl. The March 23rd some new updates came down the pipe for my

Pointer ownership with GECreateDevDesc/GEDestroyDevDesc
According to the "R Internals" document, for a custom device, I should create a pDevDesc structure that gets passed to GECreateDevDesc. ..elided... pDevDesc dev; /* Allocate and initialize the device driver data */ if (!(dev = (pDevDesc) calloc(1, sizeof(DevDesc)))) return 0; /* or error() */ /* set up device driver or free ?dev? and error() */ gdd = GEcreateDevDesc(dev);

abrt relevance?
I am trying to understand the relevance of the abrt program. It pops up automatically when somethings acts up, but I can't submit anything to RH, because I haven't paid their fees. It is a very bad user experience to go through the whole process of describing what led up to the problem and get to the end of the process and be rejected with an un-fixable error message (because I

Java Swing App
I'm rather new to Wine, and I'm trying to run a Java Swing application. I'm having trouble with it. Has anyone else gotten Swing-based apps to run? I have a test case, basically a swing "hello world" app, and I haven't been able to get it to work either. Here's what happens when I try to compile it: [dritch@twitch wine]$ wine -- c:/jdk1.3/bin/javac -g -d

Keys sticking
Hi, I have Ubuntu 8.04 beta and wine-0.9.58, and lately I've noticed after a while that my keys begin to stick after a while playing games in Wine and won't go away even after I close the Wine app (NB this *only* happens in Wine, nowhere else in the OS) The first time this happened it was the 'd' key, the next time it was the down key. The only way I could stop it (that I could

centos 5.5 on optiplex 745
Hi, we have some old dell optiplex 745 machines which have the Intel 965q chipset. The problem is, that they freeze as soon as the system tries to start the X system. It happens even before any log is written. This happens almost every time (for some reason it sometimes work, but 99% it fails). When i change the graphic driver in xorg.conf from intel to vesa it mostly works, but still i sometimes

openSuSE 10.3 compiz loads with white screen for 1 user
Listmates, I have an interesting problem with compiz on openSuSE 10.3. On a 4 user system, compiz loads with a blank white desktop. The desktop begins to load and you can see the desktop background, then it goes completely blank white. The mouse cursor is visible, but nothing else. You can spin the cube, no caps are present, but the mouse is non responsive otherwise (no right-click response or
