fixed point mec3
I've been working on a fixed point mec3 echo can. The old "mec3" which crashed a lot of peoples machines because it was floating point in the kernel is now available as "mec3-float.h". I'd appreciate any testing / feedback on the new fixed point mec3 echo can. Thanks! Mark

mec3 experiment
I was fooling around with echo cans today. I found that I could reproduce this problem regularly t400p adit600 for fxs mec3 enabled Two speaker phones side by side within about 8" of each other. Put phone 1 offhook with speakerphone Dial phone 2 Phone 2 rings and is loud enough to be picked up by the mic in phone 1 By the second ring the echocan thinks it's figured things out, but the

Experimental MEC3
I've got mec3 working at my house now. I haven't tested it on anything but my FXS ports. If any of you have echo issues and/or don't like the AGRESSIVE_SUPPRESSOR stuff, I'd like your feedback on the new mec3 echo can. Remember it is HIGHLY EXPERIMENTAL, but find me on IRC or contact me off-list with your impressions of it. Mark

An extract from extensions.conf is attached below. Is there any way to stop * even considering an incoming call on a line as a fax call? Iain bell] include => mailboxes include

Won't connect at start with Wndows 98 and storage of profiles
Hi list, I've got Samba 2.0.6 running on Yellow Dog Linux with a 2.2.14 kernel. When I start the PC, it displays the login screen (I have 3 user profiles) and I enter the username and login domain (ie the one operated by Samba). I get an error message stating that the domain login server can't be found. If I then cancel the login, go to the start menu and log off, then login there is

Back to front logging for calls placed through /var/spool/asterisk/outgoing?
I've just noticed that if you start a call by writing a file to /var/spool/asterisk/outgoing the cdr created on termination logs the call placed to the local extension - not to the destination in the PSTN. Hence there is no record of the PSTN number dialled. I guess most people want to log the outgoing portion not the local call leg? Anyone know of a setting that changes this? Iain

Sound Distortion using IAX?
Hi All, At present calls over IAX2 (ilbc) are good but they suffer from occasional distortion. The strange thing is that the distortion can only be heard by the calling party and not the called party in 95% of cases. IAX2 is being used with trunking enabled, using the ztdummy module as a timing source. Bandwidth shouldn't be an issue as there is more than sufficient plus we use QoS

Should Speex VBR Introduce Distortion?
Hi All, I've run into a small hiccup in encoding my audios with Speex. When I encode audience laughter and applause with 'speexenc' (version 1.0.1), the result is quite acceptable... until I enable VBR. Then it distorts horribly. My understanding of VBR is that it frees the encoder to vary the number of bits emitted to better maintain the quality requested, and so I would have

[Asterisk-Dev] Severe ISDN signal distortion in CVS-HEAD with octoBRI
BUG/SYMPTOMS: 1.Under certain circumstances, octoBRI (and most likely quadBRI) ISDN cards (Junghanns/CologneChip) severely distort certain ISDN payload. 2.Although these claims relate to the bristuff patch, the problem might not be limited to bristuff and in fact be rather asterisk/zaptel/libpri related. 3.Signal distortion is limited to the use of the CVS version of the Bristuff patch for

doublehash patch doesn't work in asterisk 0.7.1
Hello, I was using the doublehash.patch that Iain Stevenson had created back in August to change the transfer key from a single hash "#" to a double-hash "#". It always patches properly, but when I went from CVS 2004-01-12 to Asterisk 0.7.1 it doesn't seem to work anymore. I've attached the patch to this email and I use the following command to patch it: patch -p1

iax connection and 1 way distortion
I'm new to * and I have my * box connected to another * box located at my ISP via iax2. Using ilbc everyting works fine but with any other codec I've tried (gsm, ulaw, alaw) there is severe distortion on the sound going out of my box as well as a second or two of delay. The incoming sound quality is fine. This happens even if the outgoing sound is coming from the voice mail prompts on

one-line fix reduces distortion
Ok maybe it's just my imagination, but it looks like the one-line "duh" fix I committed from Andrej Vakrcka <ander@cauldron.sk> this week DRAMATICALLY reduces distortion in encoded files. Standard Sound Files Distortion
I've been noticing lately what seems to be some distortian in the standard asterisk sound files, used for voicemail. These files are stored on the local Asterisk system. When Asterisk plays them, I can hear some cracles and pops. I'd never noticed these until recently. I did a little test. This sounds fine... exten => 1000,1,Answer exten => 1000,n,Wait,1 exten =>

oggenc adds severe distortion
Hi all, I routinesly rips my CDs to WAV and then convert to ogg vorbis format for use in my car and portable player. I don't usually notice anything amiss, but on the last track of Mike Oldfield's "Music of the Spheres" album ("Musica Universalis", at the very end crescendo), the converted .ogg file exhibits terrible distortion (sounds like digital clipping). This

Distortion and block on analog lines
Hi listers! Have a problem with distortion in some analog lines. When some call comes in from PSTN the sound is really distorte, nothing can be understanded, but Internal calls work ok. Funny thing is that when I start/stop asterisk, dahdi, and wanrouter services eveything goes fine again. This is happening every week or so. I'm using asterisk 1.4.36, dahdi linux 2.2.0.2 and wanpipe 3.4.9

jspeex distortion playback issue
Hi all, I'm having a playback issue I can't eliminate. I'm encoding 16khz mono WAV files (voiceover recordings) to speex using a quality setting of 4. In any standalone speex player e.g. winamp or using speex frontend etc. the files play fine, but in a jspeex environment there's a subtle high pitched beeping type distortion, mostly on the transients. The sound is similar to
