Asterisk - first impressions
I'm still a newbie in Asterisk, just yesterday installed it for home use (so
I can call home while travelling). Using AVM A1 (BT Speedway) ISDN card.
Anyway, I find it very hard to locate supporting information for Asterisk.
User's Handbook is still a draft, this mailing list is not easily
searchable, and any info out on Usenet is scarce. I spent some 30mins just
trying to find out naming

MGCP with Cisco doesn't work
I'm trying to link up Cisco MGCP-enabled router (residential gateway) with
Asterisk, and it looks like some sort of protocol mismatch, could it be MGCP
0.1 vs 1.0?
Look at this (x.x.x.99 is the router, x.x.x.98 is Asterisk):

SIP & IAX behind NAT
I'm trying to set up * server behind NAT. The box is set up as DMZ in my DSL router, i.e. all incoming connections without explicit port mapping are forwarded to *. So far I'm unable to get this setup to work for either IAX or SIP (tried IAXComm & XLite softphones on public IP address). Data seems to come in fine (IAX/SIP debug shows message interaction taking place), but there is no

Extension Configuration Best Practice
Guys.
I would like to hear tips and tricks on extention config best practices, for
example, naming, etc. and most of all, how to deal with extention that have
a full time hardphone configured and assigned and then a softphone
connecting to the same extention, for example, one employee has its
hardphone on the office but sometimes when he travel, he uses his softphone
to work with, what happens

same extension on softphones and hardphones
Sorry if you see this message repeated twice. I would like to set up
hard phones and softphones with the same extension so that when anybody
in the company dials an extension, each user's hardphone and softphone
will ring at the same time. I've tried setting this up before, but I
noticed that the last sip device to register with the same extension is
the only one that rings when the

mgcp transfer takeback with ata186 (logs with comments - long post)
Hi,
in following of a recent discussion I got to work on MGCP with the Cisco
ATA186 again, and got it to work very nicely. However, there is a little
thing with transfers I would like to get comments on:
Call comes in from PSTN and goes to an ATA186 (MGCP)
Call is answered and then, using flash, transferred to another extension
If the extension is available, there can be an announcement and

One-way audio with H.323 --> SIP call
Good day,
I have a puzzling issue that people in the IRC channel recommended I
post to the list so here goes :)
I am trying to call a SIP softphone from an H.323 hardphone. The
hardphone is connected to a Definity Prologix R12 PBX with a MedPro card
and a CLAN. The Avaya is setup to send any call to extension 1609 down
an H.323 trunk group that is destined for the Asterisk server. When I

MGCP and Cisco ubr924
I've been trying to figure this one out for a while, but to no avail.
I have my cisco ubr924 setup for MGCP with Asterisk as the call-agent. I have manually registered the endpoint in mgcp.conf. When I pick up the phone, I get no dialtone and debug shows errors. IOS on the ubr924 is 12.2.
Any help is appreciated.

ShoreTel 210 MGCP phone drops calls with MGCP RSIP
I've got a ShoreTel 210 MGCP phone drops calls. My packet
capture indicates that the phone may be trying to renew its registration
with *, but reports Restart Method of Disconnected (frame 2), then *
seems to take that as a sign that it has lost the connection and closes
things down. The phone, meanwhile, seems to think it can continue the
conversation until a few ICMP "port

Asterisk crashes on special Transfer with MGCP/ATA 186
Hi all,
i am using CVS-HEAD-08/13/04-12:00:00-BRI-stuffed-0.1.0-RC4a with Cisco
ATA-186 3.1.1 atamgcp
We are used to make an special ;) blind transfer like

Then * crashes (see below) if the man in the middle is an cisco-ata-186-mgcp
If one waits until the last one rings, then hangup, everything is fine.

MGCP Transaction identifiers
I know this is not the most appropriated list to this, but I will try:
Does anyone know what is the criteria to the generation of the transaction identifiers in MGCP? I mean, are they generated by a randomic method?
I'm using Asterisk and MGCP eyeP Phone and observed that the RSIP and NTFY (methods created by the gateway) use high values in the transaction identifiers, while the RQNT, AUEP,
