External Dial-up Modem
I am having an issue with Centos 6 and an external USRobotics modem. We
use the modem as part of a last resort SMS paging system.
Across multiple Dell servers, different models, I can't not get the
modem to respond to simple AT commands while using Minicom. At the same
time if I connect the server to a console port on a switch I can
successfully access the switches serial console. So I

winmodem's) as FXO/FXS ports in * ?
what about external modems like the USR Sportsters?
Thanks in advance,

NVIDIA driver / internal modem irq conflict
Hi,
I'm having trouble with an IRQ conflict I can't figure out how to resolve.
I tried KDE (which is great), but this required the NVIDIA driver. However,
this driver conflicts with my modem. If the driver is loaded, then the system
locks up when accessing the modem. If I remove the NVIDIA driver from
/boot/loader.conf, modem works fine.
I tried moving the modem to different slots, but

Voice Modem + Soundcard Driver
The problem with using Voice Modems is that they fall into two categories:
1) Hardware Modems which only have half-duplex transmission of voice
2) Soft/Win/Lin modems which are proprietry and don't have asterisk drivers
Please shoot down this recipe before I waste any time trying to acheive it:

- the intel D945GSEJT mainboard (ICH7) has two serial ports with
onboard connectors which require a ribon cable to the external DB9
connectors in the case. I tested 5 cables, but none works. whereas I'm
not sure if it is a cable problem. this is what dmesg

but unfortunately this card doesn't have any CAPI drivers).
Every so often the ISDN just stops working (it neither dials out nor
