RE: FS: Cyclades PC300/TE2 Dual T1 Interface PCI Card For LinuxPC!
I hope this isn''t too far off topic. I did a little bit of pricing homework a few months ago on new T1 cards. The idea was to build a Linux based router/firewall. After all, Ethernet NICs are easily available for less than $10 today. But all the T1 cards I found cost a fortune. And about a year ago, I learned the list price for a complete Adtran Netvanta 3200 router with T1 card is

FS: Cyclades PC300/TE2 Dual T1 Interface PCI Card For Linux PC!
Hi. I have a Cyclades PC300/TE2 card that turns a Linux PC into a Dual T1 interface router. It is well made and high performance. I used it for a few years. It includes two T1 cables. Cyclades has gotten out of this business but the Linux kernel developer community supports this card so no additional driver is needed. It cost me $700+. I would like to sell it for about $300. Put this in a PC

centos on 64M 350Mhz pentimum II
All, I have an old computer 64M 350Mhz pentium II. centos os 4.1 installs on it fine. however on boot it says low memory and it kills certain processes. httpd or sendmail. I have a 2GIG swap and I did a chkconfig XXX off on a few things like xfs, nfs, httpd, kudzu. My old 2.4 kernel used to run in 4M with a swap... I had recompiled the kernel (took a while) to enable the cyclades module. Any

usb 3
I am trying to plug a USB 2 device in a USB 3 slot. Nothing is being detected in "lsusb". Is there something special I need to do? I am running centos 5.5 x86_64. I thought 3.0 was backward compatible. Nothing special about my device its an RS232 to USB device. It works in 2.0 slot. Thanks, Jerry

Question on kernel recompile 2.6.17.3
I downloaded the kernel from kernel.org. I did the following: cd /usr/src tar -jxf /tmp/linux-2.6.17.3.tar.bz2 cd linux-2.6.17.3 make menuconfig selected what I needed, saved the new config make bzImage make modules At this point nothing is compiled. All I get is: CHK include/linux/version.h Building modules, stage 2. MODPOST and a command prompt. I did make menuconfig again and it

Install on a usb flash drive
I all, I was thinking about installing centos on a usb flash drive. Perhaps a 4GIG. I dont need X or anything on this drive so installing should fit just fine. Are there boot issues with these flash drives? I'll be using a newer motherboard so the motherboard should be able to boot USB. Does this work? Have others done anything with flash drives? I am wanting this flash drive to be the

Question maybe off topic
Is there something in CentOS/linux that would take a single input in my case RS232 port and deliver that to two connecting network ports? So two devices can get the single port data. Thanks, Jerry

Excess Bandwidth
Hi, I''m trying to configure QoS on my linux in the following manner: I have a main link with 64K, so I divided it in 3 classes of 18K, 14K and 9K with an excess (not used for classified traffic, just to be shared) of 23K. This excess should be distributed proportonally among the 3 classes, that is, the class that has more rate should borrow more bandwidth. What is happening is

custom kernel build
Hi all, I have donwloaded 2.6.32.59 from kernel.org, extracted the source, did make menuconfig to select/deselect items then did make bzImage, make modules, make modules_install, make install and rebooted. first message I got was that ext4 was not supported. So I verified that ext4 was selected and it was. So I looked at the size of the /boot/initramfs* items. My custom one is really small

Question: anyone seeing excessive lost characters on SYSLINUX over serial port?
Hi all, I have a user who is reporting excessive amounts of lost characters when using SYSLINUX (PXELINUX actually) over a serial port at 38400 bps. What is somewhat bizarre is that he has a very high quality server with a Cyclades board, and yet he's losing characters in the PXELINUX->server direction. Has anyone else seen this? Thanks, -hpa

Data string for 2 instant commands to Powerware 9110
Hi all I was wondering if one of you kind gentlemen (or ladies) would assist me in finding the data string required to tell my ups to turn on and off. No more no less :) I guess it would be the actual string of an instant command sent down the rs232 port to the ups. I have no programming experience and have done a list search to no avail. Sorry to trouble you with this. I have a lan to

Wine + winebottler + azloader.exe + rs232 to usb adapter
Hello guys. I am new in mac world and in wine apps. I have this singular situation: I have a macbook with wine and winebottler installed. I want to use this exe app: azloader.exe. Ok, wine is able to load it normally. But... the problem is, my macbook has not the RS-232 port. So I bought a RS-232 to USB adapter. I've installed the correct "drive" to use that. I've tried that in
