Asterisk sees inbound call, but won't answer
Good evening,
I am just getting started with Asterisk. I have it installed, and I believe
I am on the right track, overall, to get it working, but I can't get the
linejack to answer any calls.
At this point, all I'm trying to do is have Asterisk answer an inbound call
on my linejack, /dev/phone0, and play a greeting or tone. I figure, once I
am able to get asterisk to actually answer the

Using -Ocancel on dynamically allocated ports
Greetings,
So, the typical use of -Ocancel is quite straightforward:
> ssh -Oforward -R 12345:127.0.0.1:56789 user at remote
> ssh -Ocancel -R 12345:127.0.0.1:56789 user at remote
But this is not so good:
> ssh -Oforward -R 0:127.0.0.1:56789 user at remote
Allocated port 12345 for remote forward to 127.0.0.1:56789

Logging Asterisk console
Hi all, in witch way can I put in a log file the asterisk console?
I have tried with some settings in file logger.conf but the log not
contain the same debug that I can see with "asterisk -rvvv".
I need it in debugging purpose for tracking some bug.
Thanks Enrico.

hammering imap vmail storage
I've configured asterisk 1.4 to use imap storage for voice-mail and
while I'm happy with it generally speaking it really seem to hammer the
IMAP server. It appear, from the IMAP server logs that it's polling
the imap server every *second* for mailbox updates for the users'
voice-mail folders.
Is it really necessary to do this once a second? Is this tunable
anywhere?
Thanx,
b.

3rd T1 of quad card won't change signaling
Hello,
I'm trying to set the 3rd span of a new digium quad card as
a E&M T1 for Faxes to a Hylafax server. The 1st and 2nd
spans are working as PRIs. When I start asterisk, the logs
show a signaling error and chan_zap.c dies. I also get an
error that it can't read the gains but they are the
standard shown below.

asterisk -C option not honored 100%
Hello,
I am trying to get a repeatable build setup for asterisk. Part of doing
so involves using the -C option to specify the master config file. The
problem is that asterisk reads the config file location that i specify,
however it still tries to read two other config files, namely:
* /etc/asterisk/extconfig.conf, and
* /etc/asterisk/logger.conf
I have specified in my config file that the

NHW Project development
Raphael,
Some 15 years ago I implemented limited functionality Theora in our cameras FPGA (it took me 6 month of hard labor), and then gave up - it is a very crowded space and it is difficult to compete with more advanced codecs. And for our other work we anyway need almost raw image data, so we are using JPEG-based JP4 format (https://community.elphel.com/jp4) that we originally developed for

NHW Project development
Hello,
I know there is no community around NHW, but I would have liked to know
what you would like to see improved in the NHW codec.I know its results are
not perfect for now compared to high-end AV1/VVC codecs for example, but
could be ok giving its extremely fast speed.-However on high quality
images, I notably like its good results because of its neatness.-
Regarding things to improve, there

NHW v0.3.0-rc29 new version
Hello,
For those interested, I have released the NHW v0.3.0-rc29 new version.
I continue to fine-tune the nhw_kernel weights. This new version has then
more precision and a better visual quality.
I have made a "deeper" visual review at -q14 compression setting which is
"high" compression, and I find now that at this setting NHW has a
competitive precision with AVIF and VVC.If

NHW Project development
Raphael,
I do not believe it is possible to build a viable community around most hardware projects except super-universal based on very cheap/high-volume products like Pi or Arduino. We see the commercial benefits of Free Software/Open Hardware as it adds value to the hardware as users are ready to pay extra for the Freedom.
