yum "transaction check error"
I need help resolving a "transaction check error" when trying to 'yum install gtk2-devel' on a CentOS 4.2 x86_64 system. I have a feeling this is due to having both x86_64 and i386 libs? # yum list installed xorg-x11-libs Installed Packages xorg-x11-libs.x86_64 6.8.2-1.EL.13.20 installed xorg-x11-libs.i386 6.8.2-1.EL.13.20

Nothing loads in wine?
I thought that I would be able to use Wine to play TF2 in Fedora 11, so I used this guide to install steam: http://fedorasolved.org/gaming-solutions/installing-steam-using-wine Steam appeared to be working fine, so I downloaded some games (TF2 and CS:S), When they were done downloading, I tried to play one, and the "Preparing to launch TF2" box came up. So I waited for a few seconds and

evince not showing "greek" and "math" in *.pdf plots
HI I?aki,? That's interesting.? I may be wrong but I think it's the Symbol font that's got the substitution bug, not Helvetica.? ? fc-match "Symbol" StandardSymbolsPS.t1: "Standard Symbols PS" "Regular" Is what I get, but then in the Evince properties it's telling me that it's substituting Symbol with "Noto Sans Regular", despite the

wine-20050211 on SuSE 9.2
I am trying to install wine-20050211 on my second system, which runs SuSE 9.2. After much faffing around I finally managed to download and install bison, which allowed ./config to complete. A warning at the end advised me to install xlib-devel or xfree86-devel. Googling around I found the RPM for XFree86-devel for SuSE 9.1 so I downloaded it and started to install it. Unfortunately, a

Installing R on a machine with 64-bit Opteron processors
I have been tasked with installing statistical and other data analysis applications on a new Sun Fire X4600 M2 x64 server that came equipped with eight AMD dual core Opteronn 64-bit processors. It is running the 64-bit version of Suse Linux 9. I have read through the installation docs, and I guess I don't understand what to do, or even how to identify which version, if any, of this

fontconfig-2.1.93 considered more harmful
There is an ongoing thread "fontconfig-2.1.92 considered harmful" on -CURRENT. Because I have not moved to -CURRENT, I post this to -STABLE. Since I upgraded to fontconfig-2.1.93 (on Apr 14) a lot of ports start to complain a lot of "Cannot fork: Resource temporarily unavailable" errors. What resource ? I inserted top into my ports build script to notice that a lot of
